This is not your typical playground. There are multiple sections of the park, which make it great for exploring. You turn a corner and cross a bridge and you're in a new space with new features! In the lower section, there is a water garden with misting fountains turned on during the warmer months. There are plenty of benches for taking a rest or snack time among the well-maintained greenery. I'd say for kiddos under 2, maybe even 3, playing on the pirate ship and near the slides definitely needs close adult supervision. The plank up the hill to the ship is quite steep, as are the two slides on the other side of the park. Definitely worth the trek into Seaport with your little ones!

D There are tons of abandoned (okay: "donated") toys left around - for the sand box and for kids to ride on, play in, etc. which adds to the play options. I love the access from here to the pond; it makes taking a walk around the pond before or after the playground a nice option. Not to mention all the shops and restaurants right on Center Street as well. There is easily accessible parking behind the playground - it is the public parking lot in JP behind Blanchards.
