I have been waiting approximately three to four months for medical equipment ordered through the VA. Universal Mobility received most of the items but said they would not schedule delivery until the final item arrived. The biggest problem has been the complete lack of communication. I have called repeatedly, left multiple messages, and almost never receive an answer or a return call. Last month, I finally reached someone who blamed the issue on problems with their phone system and said it was being fixed. A month later, nothing has improved. The VA has now confirmed that Universal Mobility has all of my items and is supposed to contact me to arrange delivery. Interestingly, the VA can reach them at the same phone number without difficulty, but my calls continue to go unanswered and my messages are ignored. This equipment was ordered because it is medically necessary. Making a disabled veteran wait months while refusing to communicate is unacceptable. I would not recommend this company based on the delays, poor customer service, and lack of accountability. read more

This business takes Aetna insurance. Oftentimes, the insurance will just pay monthly for a rental here. But if you need medical equipment, it could be a 4-5 year rental. I saw all sorts of leg trikes, motorized equipment, as well as medical supplies. Krystal looked up our transport chair up & saw that it is a purchase with a $14 copay. She informed us that it's a $500ish buy!! [NB : sina qua non* medical equipment is pricy] So I'm here because my dad's wheelchair aka transport chair is defective. Every time you pushed it, the top part of the frame buckled. And it's heavy. I could hardly lethargically lift it to the trunk of their Prius, & definitely not into my trunk that has a lip. But we were able to borrow a different, lighter version until the new transport chair comes in a week. A week later, I was informed by text to pick up the new, summery blue transport chair. As you can see below, it has rests for your feet so no dragging. Thank goodness it is lighter as it took all my torque & mighty heft to hoist the previous one into the trunk. This has a 30 day warranty so the clock is ticking!! So far, it's been excellent & a main stay to push dad to doctor's appointments, grocery stores, musical affairs, & his favorite las vegas buffets!! *indispensable, much needed read more

took two days to respond to messages and only responded after VA rep contacted them. rep did good job of changing batteries fast in one chair and took other one to shop. he was set on his way and didn't seem to care that i mentioned the the problem most likely was related to the mercury micro switch being either loose or defective as clearing the problem had been done by school to the chair. i will add more based on the results when i get it back. read more

What I found out... This company has integrity, honesty, willing to go beyond expectations. I am amazed by their work ethics. Here is what I experienced.... The VA had authorized a scooter for me with a power lift. Although University Mobility no longer sells the lift I bought from them when they did. They even installed the lift for me. Well, I had taken off the lift from my truck. After a couple months we put it back on. Unfortunately, it did not work. After having a third party look at it for free they noted the fuse was very corroded. We contacted a different local disability scooter lift seller and they told me it was a resettable fuse. That it cannot be replaced. That I had to but the entire wire harness. Well 175.00 for diagnostic, 195.00 for harness and ???? for labor this was unbelievable. A resettable fuse should be able to be reset. So why the need for a new harness. I explained that battery terminal corrosion ruined the fuse and that all. I was informed their repair person said that not possible. YADA YADA YADA. I had my son drive over to Universal Mobility for a fuse. That's when we found out they no longer sell scooter lifts. However, their rep went to see if they had any of the fuses for my lift. She found two and sold them both for 10.00 YES 10.00 my son plugged in the new fuse and it works like magic. So much for a diagnostic and new wiring harness. 10.00 verses 375.00 + installation costs. If your considering purchasing ANYTHING from there I would look no further. PERIOD! read more

Amazing customer service with the initial ordering with Angie. Terrible delivery/pick-up experience with Tom. Three days we were given a window for final pick-up by Tom and were called 30 minutes prior to the end of each window, canceling. Three missed partial days of work. And the driver, Tom, was rude and actually yelled at me. When I called again to explain to his office what the situation was, I was told by an Angelina that a Tom didn't work for them and I had the wrong number! And that Angie & Sandy (Tom's supposed manager) didn't work there!! Even though that was the exact number they called me from to arrange the drop-off & pick-up. Hmmm, isn't Angie short for Angelina?! Full moon or terrible experience. Maybe both. Other than the above NIGHTMARE, the hospital bed worked great & was comfortable once I put an egg crate mattress topper and soft sheets on it. Used it for about 6 weeks following back fusion surgery. read more

If you go searching for reviews by me you'll not find much and I being an entrepreneur do support local/small business and would only take my time for something that to me wasn't frivolous. I never raised my voice or made any demands, all of my calls were a follow-up to obtain information that would help me live my life or to share information to help Universal do a better job. I have had more than a few interactions on the phone and during deliveries and am to the point where I wish I had been allowed to randomly choose a vendor and possibly have avoided writing this review. I prior to my personal experience had received a positive recommendation about the staff in spite of my having the right to select one of 5 government-contracted vendors without any attempt by staff to influence my decision or direct me to any particular contractor, and with there being two options for the same service on the same street that I live on and another being in my zip code and closer in distance than Universal Mblty to my delivery location the vendor that I was directed to by reference and information now considers my behavior in contacting them as un-Christian and my review as unfair All my deliveries get thumbs up with the exception of the delivery of a bed, which though efficient and professional was done not wearing a mask during the delivery and set up. I will not presume that each time it was the same female but one of the times that I was on the phone I asked for a Crystal and her tone that day for whatever reason reflected a poor attitude and she acknowledged herself by name. Forgiveness is in order, give Universal a chance they want to be the best serving the community and veterans. read more

Since the last time I wrote I have taken a very bad fall that put me in the hospital for several days. I am once again amazed at the services of this business as today they not only delivered but fully assembled my new hospital bed, complete with a overhead trapeze pull-up. Not only were they on time as promised but knew exactly what they were doing during assembly and (most important thing to me ) extremely friendly and informative regarding operating instructions and care of the unit answering questions with ease and taking extra time to make sure that I understood. Very bad experience in February 2016. My cousin from Denmark rented a scooter for one day. She recently had surgery and could not walk. The scooter was operating fine and suddenly the battery went dead. We were a number of blocks away from our hotel. Called Thomas to ask for assistance to give us a ride back to our hotel and pick up the scooter. He advised he would not do it unless we payed for a ride. He advised us to charge the battery where ever we could find a plug in. We did charge it for about 45 minutes but the battery was not taking the charge. We were able to leave it with a friend that evening and it charged all night. The next morning we proceeded to take it back and it went dead in less than 1/2 block. We ended up getting our money back for the scooter rental by way of our hotel. I would never recommend Universal Mobility to anyone!!! read more

This company used to be a decent place to do business. But it has been going downhill for a while and now they have hit rock bottom. I placed an order at the beginning of March and two weeks later nothing had shown up. Supposedly it had been handled by "the manager" herself who refused to talk to me every time I called and they wouldn't even tell me what had been ordered. The receptionist couldn't even look up my order. When stuff finally arrived at the end of the month about half of it was wrong. And this awful manager who forgets to place orders, who refuses to talk to the customer AT ALL ABOUT ANYTHING will have the receptionist tell you to just find another company rather than try to work out all the crap she's done wrong. I don't even know her name because she would never call me back or take any of my calls. Worst customer service I have ever experienced and they have left me high and dry without important essential supplies while I have to go through all the paperwork of starting a new account with a new supplier. They won't be in business much longer if this is how they treat people. read more
