Buying a handicapped van at this dealership has been the worst car buying experience in my entire life. The van was sold to me with THREE factory recalls that were not disclosed. And the Braunability Under Vehicle Lift was defective and malfunctions after 60 days. The UVL slid out while the van was in motion which caused an accident, damage to the van and complete and utter destruction of the UVL, which has an estimated cost of $34,000! Then, the sales person, Bob Monahan refused to take any responsibility whatsoever, he said it was the driver's fault! How does a paralyzed person deploy a lift while driving when he has to use one hand to use the hand controls and the other hand to steer? AND, the remote is attached to the post in the rear of the van????? This dealership is despicable. I would not recommend anybody to use this place, they are rude and do not stand behind their work. I cannot comprehend why the UVL was sold to me with the safety functions not working. Stay away from this place. Buy from another dealership, such as Mobility Works. read more

Jason FTWin! 08DEC2022 Visit Had to pick up my mobility scooter as I was not available during their scheduled delivery time. About a week prior to my visit, Jason came over to my house for repairs on my scooter. Rodents had gotten into and chewed up the wires in an inaccessible place. He ended up having to order a new harness and taking the scooter back to the shop with him. I spoke to Jason on the morning of the eighth after he called me to set up a delivery time. I wasn't available during that afternoon, but really needed the scooter for a medical appointment the next morning and i asked him if I could pick it up instead. He had me meet with John and made the transition easy for me on the pick up. This is a great group of people that truly work hard for their disabled customers enabling them to live fulfilling lives by helping them with much needed assistive medical devices. Only issue I have is I just bought a wheelchair from there or the VA gave me one and the left hand. I was looking for a collapsible cane for a blind homeless gentleman I met the day prior. I was in the neighborhood working with Levy Production Group, a few doors down. Ability Center didn't have any in stock, but Charmaine, one of the directors at AC, knew exactly where I could find a folding cane instead of me having to wait for Amazon to deliver one. On Monday morning, I arrived at work and transferred from my rotating driver's chair to my wheelchair. I tried to rotate the chair back into position and it stopped working. It was totally dead. I called The Ability Center and spoke to Jeff. I asked if they have any mobile mechanics who could come service my van. He said they don't but he suggested a tow company they regularly work with to get my van to him. The van was towed to the shop. After investigating the problem, Jeff called me and informed me that my driver's seat had a lot of parts that had gone bad. We talked through several different possible solutions including one solution that would cost several thousand dollars and would put my van out of commission for three weeks. One thing we tried was taking the driver's seat completely out and seeing if I could drive from my wheelchair. I came into the shop to try it but my wheelchair was too tall. It was looking like I would have to go with the most costly option. But then on Thursday, Jeff called and said he was able to fix the old driver's seat and was only going to charge me 4 hours of labor. Keep in mind that Jeff and his crew had put many more hours into this throughout the week. They did not charge me for any parts they replaced. Additionally they gave me a ride home (free of charge) when my ride fell through. Every interaction with Jeff, made me feel very important and understood. He dealt with me kindly and professionally in every way. When I picked up my van, he even apologized for this issue taking so long to resolve. I told him that he had earned my exclusive business. I used to go to another modified vehicle dealership in town but not anymore. In fact, when I called the other company first when I discovered the issue, I was directed to a voicemail. Late on Monday evening the other company texted me to see if I needed something and I told them that The Ability Center is taking care of me. read more

Couple years ago I had Failed Back surgery which left me with weakness to Bilateral LE My husband became very ill & i had to find a way to get around independently. I was referred to the A.C by my doctor . I needed to have Hand control device installed in my Toyota SUV The Sales Reps from the ability Center were very kind & informative & polite however since I was not familiar with anything, but regular mode of driving they advise me to have their Occ.Therapist to train me. She arrived at 3;20 PM, asked multiple questions,never explaining what's involved ,billed my Credit Card something like $ 350 . This lady told me at 4 :25 to get behind the wheel,again I have never been in a car with Hand control modes,which was overwhelming to say the least. she told me to hold the Knobs,not the steering wheel,push ,pull drive ,slow down, brake = all while not explaining in details what is the hand mode operating car. I am very small person, could not see the road above the S.W ,The car window was not very clean, there was already bad sun glare ,driving West on busy road was terrifying for someone who has no idea what exactly the wheel knobs & the side lever do. She then took me briefly to the Park, where little kids are running in & out from the cars to the side walk, people walking their dogs ect. Expected me to" JUST DRIVE Safely" . She became agitated & Short with me, telling me that I have too many excuses . : the windshield is dirty, I cant see the road,I am not comfortable in the Driver"s seat. not confident behind the wheel ect ect. I will need at least 10 hours with her as there is no one else in LV to provide instructions or maybe one other person on the East Side . Its not the Ability Center's fault, but they need to make better recommendations. Here I am ,going on 2 years I am homebound.stuck at home with Valid Dr.License ,SUV getting older. She wrote a Poor Letter to my Doctor, he could not believe that she wrote about the same person,whom he knows for 15 years, who took care of his patients ,as I am Retired Home Health Nurse & not used to depend on Uber,City Transit Bus, because according to her I am " too crazy " to safely drive . She took my independence & confidence away After 1 Hr. & 45 min of doing lousy introduction to Different 2 -Hand Modes of driving ( which I have never seen before & don"t understand ) It takes Introductions to the Devices,Explanation on what each part represents,Detailed Instr. & not first 5 min,while sitting in the Driver seat & Say "Just start & drive" , while she is sitting with Pen & writing Pad & Yelling " too Fast, Too Slow, You are Jerking, Don"t touch the Floor Brake or Foot Pedals" So very disappointed & sad, crushed not by the AC,but their recommendation of this person ,with whom they work so closely . I purchased a used wheelchair van here last December. Since I purchased it, quite a few problems arose. They stood behind their product and repaired it in a timely manner. Took it in on May 7 2014 for my" Free " Service and adjustment. While there, they noticed a worn part in the ramp mechanism. I was told to use it and expect a call when the part comes in. As I was ready to leave they told me that they were covering both parts and labor for the repair. I'm sure they weren't aware of the repairs needed on the van, but they turned a lemon into a peach.Used vehicles are normally sold as is and if I purchased a van off of the internet or classified, I would have had to pay for the repairs myself and would have not been a happy camper. I recently had occasion to use this company twice. First to rent an accessible van for a visiting disabled relative. The van was a newer model, clean, well equipped, and worked like a charm. Everything was thoroughly explained. The price was comparable to other accessible van rental companies in the Las Vegas valley. My second need was for a way to fit and transport two mobility scooters for my husband and me in our Prius V. We had been told (by other vendors) that it would be impossible. Two scooters would just not fit in that small a vehicle. Well, Joe at Ability Center had just the thing, a swing arm lift that allows us to get both scooters into and out of the vehicle easily.
