I am a first time home buyer. Also the first time shop for a home inspector. I did my homework about home inspection, such as what are the standard items to be inspected and what needs to pay extra attention. I did not use the inspector recommended by my agent because I don't want potential bias (if any) involved. I called about 10 different home inspection companies and finally chose Universal Inspect. I spoke to Brett, the owner for a while and felt he is very knowledgeable in this field. He answered my questions patiently. We discussed about the services I needed. I then called Brett again after I studied Universal's website. Brett answered my questions and later we exchanged some text messages. Brett took his time to educate me and finally make me feel comfortable to use Universal Inspect. I am glad I chose Universal Inspect.
First, Universal Inspect has an ultra-professional team. The manager, the inspector and office staff I dealt with all held themselves with high level of professionalism. It makes me feel the business is well managed and staffs are all well-trained.
Second, Diligent and thorough work. Darren was my inspector. He showed up on time and started the inspection right away. Unlike traditional home inspection companies, Universal Inspect uses advanced technologies to conduct inspections. Darren brought a drone to inspect the roof. The drone came back with detailed pictures showing areas that humans could not reach. A couple hours later, Darren walked me through different areas and pointed out issues, followed by solutions recommended by him. As a buyer, you want your inspector to be specific, be able to notice the smallest issues in the house or issues potentially could come up in the future. Darren did that. Darren really knows what he is doing and what he is talking about.
Two days later, I got my report. The report was prepared in an organized, professional and detailed manner. The report not only points out issues but also gives clients a good amount of educational materials, which I found very helpful as a home owner. Both my agent and I called Darren with some further questions. Darren answered with full knowledge and great amount of patience.
All in all, I am very satisfied with my home inspection experience with Universal Inspect. They really know the business and really take care of their customers. Because I ordered a premium package, the cost is on the pricier side. I know most people I talked to only get the general home inspection. I decided to go with the premium package. My theory is I'd rather spend a little more having the house thoroughly inspected than finding problems later after closing. I am happy that I chose the full package and learned many more details about the house.
I'd highly recommend Universal Inspect to all home buyers, especially first time home buyers. Make sure you check your contingency period and confirm with the inspector when you will get the report. After all, good communications before and after the inspection, high quality of work and well-trained team. read more
