Universal, for the win! On my way from Austin to Houston on a Tuesday HOT July afternoon - my low engine oil light turned on. Panicked bc I assumed I was in the middle of nowhere but thank goodness Universal Automotive was just a few exits down. They literally looked at my car right away; got the Stelvio in a bay, checked & topped off the oil (with 0W30) and I was back on the road in less than 30 min, for $30 bucks. They also let me bring my two dogs inside while I waited. Super nice dudes. Grateful for shops that exist like this one! read more

Been coming to this place since we moved to this area. The brothers are very professional and friendly and have always given me honest prices and quotes. Which is rare because shops now days want to make the most $$. I have a newer Mercedes Benz and I trust these guys to care for it as I would. Worst place to get something fixed.... Went in, was told the problem was the compressor. Paid a lot of money to get it fixed, not even a week later, I take it back cause I kept hearing a weird noise. They then proceed to tell me that it's the compressor again. I know I did not pay a lot of money for them to "FIX" it but then I have to take it back for them to "fix" AGAIN and they tell me it's going to be over a thousand dollars again!!! They were supposed to fix it, which clearly they didn't and they want me to pay them all over again because they clearly couldn't do their job right. Not to mention that they have had my Truck for over a week and no work has been done to it!! read more

This shop is one of the best mechanical shops on the West side of Houston. Great quality work, honest, fair pricing, and most of all helpful. They service all my diesel trucks. I called them because I was having an issue bleeding my brakes (which they didn't install) I did it at home. Instead of blowing me off. They took the time to walk through what I had done. Helping me find the problem which was a wrong caliper. Turns out they were right. I was able to correct the problem at home. It's important to note they offered to get me in right away and bleed my brakes while I waited!! I'm a customer for life. read more

I am disappointed in the service at Universal Auto. I took my truck in for an air conditioner problem and for a noise in the rear end. The next day they call to let me know what the problem was and what it would cost. I thought the price was a little high, but told them to go ahead with the service. After 2 days, I went to pick it up, paid the bill and drove out. I turned around because nothing was fixed. I had one of their mechanics drive the truck and he said the parts they installed were defective. After another 2 days they called and said it was fixed. When I picked it up I was charged another service fee for the same work and questioned about some of the charges (a new passenger seat belt and buckle), they said it was because of the air conditioner. I ended up taking it to another mechanic and had it fixed for a lot less. I do not recommend them for more complicated vehicle service work you will end up paying more for service fees. read more

Where to begin, from my initial phone call with thee one and only "Jeremy" to the above and beyond outstanding customer service that was provided. Here I was a lonely sloth stranded on the side of the road. My engine in my transit van blew and I was lost for words to say the least. My 17 hour drive... all came to a halt. Thats until the all mighty mechanic Jeremy blessed me with nothing but extravagant southern hospitality. He did the honor of calling a tow truck and hauling this mammoth of a van along with our trailer over to his shop. Canceled all unnecessary production and immediately got someone on the diagnostics upon arrival. Within 10 minutes he diagnosed the issue and we came to a solution that wasn't only fair in price but on a mind blowing time line. This shop has set the standard high to all other mechanic shops in a 30 mile radius. If you haven't found a mechanic that you can trust and ensure quality work. Service at this shop has gone downhill significantly since 2019. Not only that by they were ripping me off with the estimate. I thought it was just the service and decided to go somewhere else, but a different mechanic shop I took the car to said the estimate I was given was more than double what it should have been. So this not good is about how they treated me in an unfriendly manner when calling to check on the car after it had been there for 4 days with no phone call and still told me a technician is working on it. I told him I did not appreciate their unfriendly customer service and was really disappointed in how much it has changed. Jeremy, the owner, told me I was a horrible woman. The mechanic in Katy I used to go to but tried Universal for convenience again as I have used them off and on but always found them pricey is purchasing a brand new part from the dealer and doing the work all in one day for less than half the price of Universal after they had my car for an entire week with no answers. Their only response as I gave them 48 hours with the car before even checking on it and then called every day, was 'a technician is working on it'. Same words every time. When I asked after 4 days, I was told that two days ago, are you sure? The response was, I don't know what you want me to say, I told you a technician is working on it. I will not return, and I recommend you not return either. In 2019, they were great, but not anymore. read more
