Because they were not on preferred list, State Farm made them jump through additional hoops for the estimate and payments, but United Collision Center made it transparent to me. More mini drama with insurance when I went to pick up. But United quarterbacked all the communication with State Farm and it got replaced with minimum fuss to me. The repair itself was terrific. The panels were fixed and the paint perfectly matched. The rest of the car was clayed and looked new. I had an unfortunate accident earlier this year with my M3. Given this is the most expensive car I've ever owned, and one that I want to keep in the nicest and most factory condition possible, and being weary of local BMW service shops not producing the best results, I did my research to find a body shop that would provide me the exact result I wanted. I was recommended United Collision in Mountain View by Edge Motorworks as they've seen the work they've done for their performance cars when they used to neighbor them, and I decided to go with them. From the get-go, I could tell Francisco, the front face of the shop, knew exactly what I wanted from the job and wasted no time in getting started on the repair. I insisted on only OEM, new or like-new components, and was willing to be patient for the final result. I have other cars I can drive around, so I wasn't pressed for time to get my car back until it was finished. The repair job took around two months in between sourcing components, dealing with insurance, and the actual job of repairing. The bottleneck was waiting for shipment and supply of parts, which is out of control for everyone involved. The end result knocked me off my feet. I have never seen my car be so clean, shiny, or well put-together as it was when I came to United Collision to pick it up. The paint was matched and blended perfectly, there were no mismatched or large panel gaps, and everything was straight. One month after picking up the car, I have absolutely no issues with the repair, and this is after driving the car spirited up onto the canyons a few times, in between the daily highway commute. These guys did a phenomenal job in repairing my M3 and I cannot praise them more for the job. I even came out with a warranty, which is one extra bonus I didn't have when I bought the car last year. I had a great experience working with Francisco and UCC. Mine was a minor repair--a kid in my neighborhood rode their bike up my driveway and scuffed the lower rear valance (the panel that goes BELOW the bumper, around the muffler tip)... and of course, rode away, leaving me with the damage and the bill. I called around a few shops, and they all seemed kind of shady until I found UCC. I baby my cars and am picky about whom I take them to. Francisco was professional, friendly, and responsive, and they ordered the parts as needed and installed them the same day. Because they were able to complete the replacement of the panel faster than anticipated, they adjusted the quote by a little bit to save me some $. They even polished out a tiny scratch for me for free, which was nice of them to throw in. :) Now, I did have to wait almost six weeks for the repair because they have a specific tech who works on higher-end cars, and also, my repair/replacement was purely cosmetic and non-urgent. When you call, and they are busy, be prepared to wait a while, especially if it is not a major job. That said, the patience is worth it, and the price is comparable to other shops in the area, slightly more, but the quality of the work sells itself. They accommodated my hectic work schedule, which I also appreciated. Wow, these folks were fantastic! I worked with Francisco on replacing my driver's side door, which had been backed into. He was able to locate me a replacement part for my older model Scion and have it shipped to the shop. Once there, they did all of the work in a single day, and my car looks as good as new! I was fortunate to have braked hard enough before I would have crashed through the guard rail and flew off a cliff. Immediately after calling Geico, I headed straight over to United Collision Center. I have worked with United before, and had great experiences with Jade. But my experience with Jade was eclipsed by the even more amazing experience I had with Oscar and Rosie. United is a rare place where they don't just pretend to care about you, they really do care and treat your car as it was their own. As worried as I was about my car, Oscar and Rosie always beat me to the punch when it came to calling to give me updates. And even then, they were amusingly apologetic about not giving me an update sooner! How he helped me: + Contacted someone in the car insurance industry who provided some facts about filing a claim in my situation. + Got the car rental company (Hertz) to pick me up at the shop so I could immediately get a rental car. + Assured me that the rental car would be covered, whether by my insurance company or by him if they refused to cover it. + Communicated updates to the claim and repair progress on a regular basis. + Displayed a great sense of humor while also being a good listener. Let me tell you how honest these guys are. First of all they did an amazing job - 3.5 years later and the paint still matches perfectly on the two parts of the car they worked on. Second I brought them a tricky insurance situation and Oscar did all the legwork of clarifying and negotiating with the insurance of the person who hit me. Third and most tellingly: I left the country for a year right after getting the job done, and the insurance company ended up sending them the check instead of to me. Finally over three years later I tracked down what happened and gave them a call. Anyone else could easily have pretended not to know what happened or made things difficult, but Oscar and Francisco remembered me right away, looked up the accounting, and asked me to come right over to get a new check from them. These guys fixed my driver door after an accident. I had to go back twice to get minor issues corrected after the initial repair, so why am I giving them 5 stars? Because of the UNBELIEVABLY courteous and professional way they handled it each time I went back. Their service in general is really as good as it gets. They treat their customers like old friends--both in terms of the warmth and friendliness they show and in how far our of their way they're willing to go to make sure customers' needs are met. (Read on for examples.) The door had to be replaced and, after the initial repair, it looked perfect. Paint was blended impeccably; you'd never know it was repaired. After taking it home, I noticed a very subtle vibration in the door every time I closed it; it didn't sound as solid as the other front door when it closed. I went back to the owner, Oscar, and showed him. I half expected him to tell me he couldn't hear any difference--I really was being picky. But he did the opposite: he immediately acknowledged that he could hear it too and had a guy work to fix it. I was feeling sick that day and, when the work ended up taking more than the 45 min he had estimated, he offered to DRIVE ME HOME HIMSELF and come back and get me when it was done. When I picked it up after that additional work, I noticed a couple of the door controls weren't working right (auto up-down on the driver window and side mirror controls). I was on the way straight to the airport from the shop so I just called to tell them. They were deeply apologetic and said I should just come in when I got back. I wasn't really up for losing another couple hours of work to go back to the body shop so I asked if they might be willing to come pick the car up at my work, repair it, and then bring it back to my work. Without hesitation, Oscar said he'd be happy to. He showed up yesterday morning, as promised, took my car to the shop, fixed it, and brought it back a few hours later. The car is only a few months old and I'm pretty picky but I can say without reservation that the car is perfect now. Not only do these guys to absolutely top-notch work, their courtesy and professionalism is unmatched in my experience. My Lexus IS200t desperately needed several major fixes (huge dent on the driver's side front wheel panel and a very mangled looking front bumper) before I returned the car at lease end. I had a few major concerns: paint matching (I had spoken with a couple other body shops before choosing United Collision Center and my specific color of Lexus was too hard to match or they couldn't get the iridescent flakes in the paint, which I totally understood), cost, and time for repairs (I went in 2 months before my lease end date to be sure I could get an appointment). I went in and met with Oscar and he was SO helpful. Not just "Oh yeah nice guy", but literally broke down the cost and explained what he could do to help me save money and walked me through submitting my claim so that insurance would cover the main things that I needed fixed. He told me they had great experiences with Lexus and their paint colors (phew) and the car could be ready in around 10 days and I could bring it in to time nicely with the date Lexus wanted the car back (SO FLEXIBLE). In terms of the insurance claim, I went through the process and found out I got a really small amount, but when I called United Collision Center, Oscar was AGAIN so helpful and asked me to send over my claim so that they could help me save more. I booked my appointment and brought my car in a week later. Francisco had ALL of the paperwork ready for me, and I just had to read and sign. A week and a half later, I get a call that my car was ready and I picked it up the next day. Francisco had the paperwork ready and a copy for me. All I had to do was pay, and I paid a fraction of what I was previously quoted and the entire team was SOOOO amazing when it came to helping me save money. But let me tell you, the car looks amazing AND they detailed the interior (so sorry for the people who cleaned 2 dogs' worth of hair, but the end result is amazing). I have never seen SUCH an exact paint job in my entire life and I couldn't even recognize where I had damage. Had a really positive experience here at United Collision! I came to get my bumper fixed after a rip and was able to come in and get an estimate right away. Oscar was super helpful and informative throughout and helped ensure the process went smoothly. I didn't feel pressured to commit to anything and was even encouraged to look at all my options before deciding which I appreciated. After bringing my car in, an issue came up with the dealer where they had to have the parts redelivered but Oscar contacted me to keep me in the loop and gave me the option of taking it back or leaving it in the shop for the weekend. He then let me know that if I did leave it, they would get to work on it as soon as possible and have it finished by the end of the following business day. I decided to do just that and lo and behold my car was ready for pickup by the end of the day they promised. I was very impressed with the quality of the work. Really spot on, and no hint of any flaws whatsoever. They matched the paintwork to a tee and I honestly thought it looked better than the day I drove it out of the dealership, but that might have partially been due to the fact that I was just thrilled to have my baby back. They even cleaned it for me, inside and out, and saved me a trip to the car wash :) Overall, customer service and quality of work were phenomenal.
