What an experience! Thank you Unison Coffee team for sharing this with us! I didnt know what to expect but I was blown away! We are typically always on the go when we get our coffee, this is a way for us to pause and actually enjoy coffee and conversation! There are four courses: and aperitif, filter coffee, slow brew and infusions, and digestif. We started off with a light and bubbly tea infused drink, it was light and airy, a perfect way to start the experience. Next came the filter coffee, this was a fermented coffee bean drink served iced, a bold flavored drink for sure! The slow brew and infusions was my favorite, servesd to resemble an old fashion( also on of my favorites) this was my favorite of the four. It was balanced perfectly, not too sweet and just the right amount of coffee flavor! We ended the experience with a digestif, a coffee drink with milk and hints of raspberries! If I had to choose one, I would choose number 3, a perfectly balanced drink! A one of a kind Omakase that everyone should experience!

Finally had a chance to experience coffee omakase and it was so worth the wait! We were greeted by the friendly co-founders who were very welcoming, warm, and attentive to each of us which made it an intimate experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I loved how they framed this as a way to really take a break and enjoy a relaxed experience, to be in the moment and make new connections.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was refreshing to also see suggested prompts for each coffee course to have us reflect while we enjoyed very unique and well balanced coffees. I loved learning about the process, flavor profiles of the coffee along with the journey the two founders have gone through to make this experience come to life. This is absolutely worth trying out, and I'll be signing up for a future experience again soon!

Fun coffee omakase experience! Made reservations about a month ahead of time. The whole experience takes about an hr and is done in small groups of 4. The omakase is led by JB and Aaron who you can tell are very passionate about coffee and know their craft. It was a little over $50 for two people which was a little high imo but I don't regret it since I was a fun experience and the coffee was really unique. It starts with a palate cleanser and small sweet pastry bite. Then moves to two drinks then a small savory bite. It ends with a sweet coffee drink. My partner was able to get his whole experience decaf which was really appreciated and also a completely different flavor profile which was fun to compare. They told us at the end that all the drinks together was about 4-5 espresso shots! Note: the entrance is from the parking lot behind the church and in the corner of all the shops. It was a bit confusing for us to find so plan ahead of time to give yourself some wiggle room.

The four courses! 1 tea and 3 coffees.

Omakase experience 5/5! We had a tea to start for course 1, then 3 courses of coffee. Great conversation with Aaron from beginning to end. He told us the description and origins of each drink. It was so neat to learn the inspirations of the drinks and about the different sources of local tea/coffee they get from around San Diego. You can definitely feel the passion and love for coffee through the interaction and drinks. Definitely recommend and will try again another month when the drinks rotate :)!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Definitely capture a unique speakeasy/omekase experience![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The baristas/bartenders(?) are very attentive and friendly like a sushi chef and the drinks are delicious and creative. You can tell there's a lot of a thought that goes into the drink creations as they have a lot of depth of flavors in them Would go back for the coffee experience as well as trying out their standard specialty menu too

Had the omakase experience and it was everything I had wanted and more! Adventurous and delicious, every drink was complex and well balanced with a variety of unique flavors. JB and Aaron were so warm and welcoming and you can tell they are experts at a craft they love. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The drinks were like quality coffee based mocktails (that tasted like cocktails) in a setting that has a speakeasy vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Looking forward to going back with friends soon!

It's tucked into a cute neighborhood near Logan Heights. We came around 9 a.m., and street parking was easy to find. There was already a line when we arrived, but it moved pretty quickly. The baristas were friendly and welcoming, and I thought the prices were really reasonable for San Diego. I ordered the black sesame matcha, and my husband got the Piloncillo. The matcha was creamy, rich, and not overly sweet, which I really appreciated. One thing to know if you're ordering matcha or a latte--they only offer oat milk, not almond milk. My husband loved his coffee and said the espresso was smooth, flavorful, and let the coffee shine without being overcomplicated. The shop itself is really cool too. There's an art installation inside, an outdoor patio with additional seating, and I noticed quite a few people picking up bags of espresso beans while we were there. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit and would definitely come back.

Artwork is very beautiful and fits the Barrio Logan scene perfectly. I arrived with nobody inside the business minus the workers, you had maybe 2 people outside enjoying the scenery and their drinks. Not greeted upon entering the business just gave me that stare with not asking if I had any questions. I dont recall his name but he was very skinny, curly hair or wavy and i believe he had braces, but not sure if he was having a bad day but something wasn't all there. I ordered 2 drinks, I forget the other but it had cinnamon on top. The drinks were just hand on the counter without saying which drinks is which, so i asked which one is which. Didn't hear me, so i kinda said again and he pointed them out not in a nice or rude way but the approach of how it was handled was not friendly. How can you have Mazapán without the Mazapán crumbles which are very iconic to the drink. I just found it super strange and did not care for it. The cinnamon based drink was good tho, which I'll give them that. Experience could have been better.

The same seating arrangement of the bar countertop and tables across from it was available if you wanted to hang out and chill. A sign behind the bar described the ceremonial grade matcha that was used with the region of origin and the flavors imparted to the powder. Five different matcha drinks were offered along with hot and cold coffees and lattes. The top three matcha choices were priced at $8 each. I chose the Ordinary Pleasure which was the first one. Pandan sticky rice milk and mango puree were added to the matcha and topped with a salted coconut foam. I wasn't a fan of the foam, but the matcha flavor was intense and contrasted by the fruity puree on the bottom of the cup. The baristas were very focused with measuring the exact amounts for each ingredient in the drinks they were preparing. The matcha quality seemed to be very good based on what I tasted so maybe it's why the price was $1 higher than what I have tried elsewhere.

The drink exhibited every core to the classic Thai dessert and there was really little room for improvement other than the ratio of rice to coconut blend could be evened out. The barista mentioned that it is on the sweeter side. When this was mentioned I felt like it would be a good pairing because the Thai coffees that I am used to having are typically on the strong side. I also heard from another customer that the Thai coffee had a slight mocha taste to it which I thought was interesting. I'm indifferent to powdered taro milk teas, although this one in particular, I did not enjoy. It was thick and sludgy, with an undertone of medicine reminding me of pepto bismol. The color was lovely, but not the taste. I wouldn't order this particular drink again. The drink I chose was medium size and it was only $5.38 (or 5.83, I can't remember & I don't think I got a receipt) ish which I can appreciate! The top portion of the drink was the Thai coffee and I really did like the flavor. Next time I'll get a different drink for sure! My friend tried the Green Thai Tea for the first time and really enjoyed the flavor of it. It had a floral jasmine + vanilla taste, a little bit on the sweet side-- but refreshing and delicious. The prices are pretty good (coffee and milk teas) and they also have smoothies (which can be on the more expensive side $9-12). Water cup is free upon request. They also have only a handful of seatings, but it's a nice area to walk around. They have umbrellas as well, but they do need a heavier stand for windy days as I've witnessed it fall into a car several times. Other than that, I recommend checking out It's Cafe Thai in Barrio Logan!
