This review is for the Dunwoody/Perimeter location: This salon is clean, bright, organized, and comfortable. I walked in on a Tuesday afternoon around 2:00pm. I looked into making an appointment, but I was already in the area and the appointment times were 2 hours out. The booking site also states that face/brow services are walk in any how. So, I don't believe making an appointment is necessary for facial threading/waxing services. There were a couple clients ahead of me and a few walked in after me. There were 3-5 clients inside at any given time within the duration of my visit. I like that the waiting area is nice and separate from the service area. There appeared to be two ladies working. I waited about less than 10 minutes. They had uncensored pop radio playing as I waited and when I got into the chair it was classical piano, which I really appreciated. (This was likely just coincidence but I was glad). I think we all would like our services to be relaxing and that definitely added to my experience. Service: I got my eyebrows, chin, and lip threaded by Nera. Nera has been threading for 2 years, and with a bit of guidance, she helped me achieve my desired outcome. I did spend more time in the chair than I expected because of this, but I was ok with that. The one thing I wish would have been more obvious is the sanitization of hands, especially since gloves are not worn. I had to ask for this to be sure. 4 stars because of this and the level of expertise. My brows are clean and shaped and my face is smooth and bright after my service. The pricing was super reasonable, I was charged $26 total. I received a $5 discount for being a first time guest. All in all, I would definitely come back again for threading services. read more

I really had high hopes for this place especially after my first visit. Unfortunately it is a HARD HELL NO for me after visit #2. I arrived for my 11am appt and was told it would be a few min wait. No problem but 20 min later I'm still waiting...(I should have left then but I had an event so I needed my face & brows clean. Once I got in her chair ( I believe her name is Rikki) I explained exactly what I wanted...detailing my brows are to be shaped up DO NOT ALTER MY NATURAL ARCH & thread my lip/chin/neck. She advised me it's better to wax then thread...we debated I explained I usually do not wax and asked if she could just thread as that is what my appt was for and that is what was done here at my last appt. Long story short...I relented allowed her to wax my face...attached are the photos 2 days post. She burned my face in 3 places and under my chin. I also had red bumps and a nice rash for the last 48 hrs. Not to mention my brows are uneven and the right one she totally botched the natural arch. I wish I had taken pictures yesterday but I really had no intention of writing this review. I just really don't want anyone else to go thru this. I just stopped by to say, after my first initial review 2 years ago, I still feel the exact same about Sugar Thread & Wax! I moved away from the Sandy Springs area and I still drive 30 minutes, just to visit the ladies here! During the pandemic they've handled things extremely well! 1. Everyone in the establishment is required to wear masks 2. Sanitizer is provided 3. They take your temperature & you have to log it in a book they have, when you sign in! 4. They had always sanitized in between waxing's, but they now sanitize in between every customer who sits in the eye brow chairs too. Unlike most places, the staff here always wears their masks OVER their nose! Their waxing and eyebrow services are very reasonable and they do an amazing job! The absolute truth! I was in need of a good thread spot and i stumbled on sugar thread wax. Located in a strip mall. Parking was easy to find. I walk in asking for Mel because the reviews said to ask for her. She proceeds to thread my brows and i tell you and i didn't have to tell her what to do. I'm actually sad to give this business 1 star because I have tried it 2 different times & it's less than a mile from my house. I went here both times to get my brows and lip threaded. The woman that threads is so kind, BUT she forces you to wax your lip every time. I told her I have been getting threaded for years and she insisted I do waxing. My lip hair grows back twice as fast with wax and I'm not sure if that's why she forces wax on everyone or what, but now I drive 35 mins to my old wax lady so I can actually get my lip threaded without being forced to do wax. I have given this place 2 tries and sadly I will not be back. read more

In preparation for my cruise, I visited this place after passing it often when dining out and doing research on alternatives to waxing. During my visit the salon was very clean and accommodated my appointment change without issue. I had 3 services done: Eyebrow threading, Eyebrow Tinting and Underarm Sugaring. I absolutely loved the tinting and believe I'll add that to my "beautification ritual". Pros (+): Super professional and accommodating. Walk-ins are welcome. My eyebrows & underarms were satisfactory. Cons(-): After my services I was asked to pay with cash to save credit card fees. I recommend they state cash is preferred when making the appointment or give a discount offer for cash vs. charge. Unfortunately I usually NEVER have cash. I am so happy! So let me tell you my rating is bias. Yes I really did say bias. Now let me tell you why. I used to go to another facility in The Vinings area and I had a wonderful person by the name of Sana that would make me feel very beautiful with the way she would do my eyebrows and my Brazilian waxes were great! I never had a complaint. Well one day over a year and under 2 years ago she had new life experiences to which she had to part. I was clearly sad and I have not been able to find anyone since she left to give the exemplary service she would provide. NEVER found one person that could get my brows natural and shapely and without nicking me. So today I decided I was going to try to find another threading facility that was close to the Brazilian restaurant that I wanted to eat today. I read the reviews for Sugar Thread Wax and I made up my mind to go into and ask for Ash as others have recommended in the Yelp reviews. So I had a little difficulty finding the location I called and the young lady told me where they were. FYI ..it is close to Sunflower Cafe in the plaza where Lowe's but closer to Hammond Drive entrance. Orange Theory is your other landmark. Ok, back to what I was saying.... I parked my car, walked up to the door, i look in before opening the door and guess who I saw?!?! I have been praying and wishing into the universe for her return. Today the universe led me to Sana! First visit to Sugar Thread Wax and I really loved my experience. Since relocating to the area I haven't found a salon that can thread my eyebrows. When I arrived I was greeted by a few women at the counter and I was immediately serviced by Tia. The salon is very clean and decorated nicely. Tia assessed my eyebrows and she made some recommendations about what type of services I should have to enhance my eyebrows. Unfortunately I do not have thick eyebrows and this is one of the trouble areas for me. I had just completed several months of waiting to see how thick my eyebrows still grow in. My eyebrows looked awful and I couldn't get the hairs to grow in evenly. Tia shaped my brows to perfection and then I asked her to tint them for a more dramatic look. When she was completed I was so amazed! I absolutely love the way my eyebrows look. You can't tell that I suffer from thin brows. The staff here was very rude and I did not have a good experience. I found out about this place through Groupon. I walked in this morning and was told to sign in, I mentioned I had a groupon. I have gone to Sugar Thread Wax since August of 2017 and have had fairly pleasant experiences. The very first time I remember them using a hard sugar wax. The following visits the sugar wax was different. I had no prior complaints except for my last visit which made me not want to return. I had no prior appointment set up, waited only a few minutes before the lady came out and nodded at me indicating my room was ready. After the Brazilian wax was complete she handed me the mirror to take a look. Before grabbing the mirror I noticed many hairs were still present (not a problem). But she told me she wasn't plucking them because I needed to purchase their products to get rid of my ingrown hairs. As I was checking out I handed her my credit card (which I've always used to pay). She asked me do I have cash instead. I told her "no I didn't know it was cash only since I've been here before." Her response was "this is a small business and we like cash better than card. I can give you 5% cash back if you get cash now. Just remember next time we prefer cash more." That was a very rude thing to say. It made me feel as though my money was not appreciated towards their business. My family owns a small business as well, and we never say that to customers! Posting a sign is more appropriate than saying that out loud in the front lobby. But don't ever tell customers ".....next time we prefer cash...." read more

I want to start this review by mentioning how well kept this place is. It's nice and clean and the decor is cute. I went here previously to get my eyebrows threaded and the lady that did them did a tremendous job! I mean best place I've been to thus far. However, I came back a second time to get a Brazilian and left unsatisfied. It has been quite some time between my last Brazilian and this time so my hair had gotten pretty thick. I just knew it'd be painful when I went so I was prepared. To my surprise it wasn't that painful at all. The disappointment comes when it's all over. The lady gives me a mirror to review her work and I can't help but notice all the places she had forgotten. Literally the only place she'd wax is the literal V area. Left the hair in between my thighs and right above my vagina. I politely ask if it's included in the Brazilian and she tells me no. I also still have a little hair at the top of my crack and it's just a horrible job done. I would never come back for a Brazilian and I would never recommend anyone to come here for it. First off, the interior is pleasing to the eye and everything was clean. The staff were super nice and knowledgeable. I wasn't even planning on getting my eyebrows threaded, but I was persuaded to do so and I am glad I did. I had never had my brows threaded before, so I was a bit nervous but it turned out to be an awesome experience. Threading gives a much cleaner look than waxing. Now, on to my wax. Malika was amazing. She was nice and friendly. The sugar wax didn't hurt at all and she made sure she tackled all my hairs. Additionally, she gave me advice about my acne and dark spots.
