I want this company to be my go-to for all and any work that needs to be done in my condominium. They restored my kitchen--or should I say, renovated my water-damaged, demolished kitchen. They installed new flooring, cabinets, and quartz countertops...and painted the walls and ceiling. Another well-known water restoration chain, recommended by my insurance, initially completed part of the demolition, but were not being very transparent in the restoration process. So I did some research and found Unique Restoration. Gus from Unique explained the entire process from this point on to restore/renovate my kitchen. He took pictures and measurements and worked with my insurance claim adjuster so that all aspects--countertops, cabinets, flooring, and paint--were included in the bid and subsequently approved. From that point on I worked with Shawn and Alex who were very patient with me and my family as we looked at all available options. This is my first and hopefully last kitchen renovation, so there were plenty of learning opportunities--quality and thickness of countertops, flooring options, cabinet colors, etc. But, again, I was truly thankful that both Shawn and Alex were helpful in suggesting what was best in terms of quality and durability, and within the budget. The company's crew--Carlos and Jeffrey on cabinets, Alfredo and Milder on floors, and Wilmer finishing with painting and caulking--worked diligently completing their work in approximately a month and half. When issues arose after work completion (i.e., with cabinet alignment, hole repairs, or caulking mishaps), a phone call to Shawn or Alex would immediately trigger a redo, re-patch, or repair by the crew to get it to the standard that I wanted. They stand behind their work and will take responsibility for necessary adjustments. I would highly recommend this company. In addition to being highly skilled in their field, every crew member and representative were very kind and personable, a business trait that is hard to find in many companies today. Hello. Another long review coming....... The crew from Unique Restoration (UR) were absolutely beyond amazing. They just completed repairing the ceilings in 4 areas of my home and I can't believe that I can't see a difference in on the areas that they repaired. Aside from the water stains no longer being there, I would not have known that they removed portions of the ceiling then repaired. After repairing, they painted the ceilings which made every room look refreshed. I know that they were definitely here but the work that they did is phenomenal. I used my flashlight to really inspect and there were no lines of demarcation or any differences in texture. This is A+++++ work. I am so grateful to my insurance company for recommending UR. You never know what treasures are out there until someone gives a recommendation. From the first contact through completion, UR was amazing. My family and I were nervous about having someone come into our home to do repairs because we have dealt with some pretty shady contractors in the past. Those experiences prevented us from allowing anyone to do repairs. However, UR went over and beyond to make us feel very comfortable and trusting in their company. Mayra (Office Manager) and Christine were my initial contact and schedulers who were great at keeping me in the loop with everything that was happening and to schedule times for when the crew could actually start the work. Kevin, Alex, Juan, Alfredo, and team did a nice job repairing our house after our AC unit leaked down through the ceiling and caused water damage this summer. Everything looks as it did before the water damage, including matching our various types of crown moulding exactly. We had good communication and responsiveness (including in-person meetings, phone calls, and texts) with all involved throughout the process. As a plus, Unique Restoration helped manage everything with our insurance company once they started the job. There were many elements to the project -- multiple rooms, ceiling, walls, staircase, gates, lighting, etc. -- and they completed all aspects, plus any touch-up work where I noticed any imperfections. When larger issues came up, such as realizing a pre-existing light fixture was now missing after the ceiling had been replaced, we worked together to solve. Unique Restoration was responsive to our concerns and requests. I'll also say for the benefit of anyone reading this in 2020-21 that we were nervous about having workers inside during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the vast majority of crew members were very respectful about keeping distance and wearing masks at all times while inside. I am not one to write negative reviews of businesses or people, in fact this will be my first. When I hired a contractor, who was not only unprofessional, unwilling to take criticism, take responsibility for his mistakes and rude to me and my daughter, I decided it was time. The contractor was Shawn at UNIQUE RESTORATON. I had a leak in my guest bathroom which lead to damage to my kitchen. Among the many repairs the leak caused was the damage to my newly installed flooring. The kitchen flooring all had to be replaced. Insurance was involved which delayed the repairs far beyond a reasonable time. I lived in a mess for close to five months. That's another story. In any case, Shawn came across as very nice and honest, however he way over promised and under delivered. He also refused to admit when the mistakes he made were his fault. To begin with, he purchased incorrect flooring even though I gave him a sample of what I wanted. I ended paying for his mistake. Once the correct flooring was obtained. Shawn began work and it was clear that the job he was doing was subpar. I live with my adult daughter and she and I pointed out problems with his work as I noticed them. Most were corrected, some I didn't even raise because I just wanted the process completed and the contractor was "not receptive" to my issues. Nevertheless, the work was finally completed and when I did my final inspection I noticed a tear in the flooring. I brought this to his attention and he told me it happened when we put the furniture back. The floor is extremely strong and durable and would not have torn in this manner. He proceeded to call my daughter a liar and said several other horrible things about her to me. I showed a photo of the damage to another flooring contractor who knew immediately that the damage done during installation and even the type of tool that caused it. After going round and round with the contractor over this issue (he claimed it was a full day of work) over and over, I told him to take a picture of it and take it to another flooring contractor. He did and only then (after days of arguing over and over)did I receive a text saying he would come by and fix the floor in two days. I never received an apology for the nasty things he said to me nor any acknowledgement of being wrong. He simply refused to accept responsibility for any mistakes. In the end the job was far more stressful, complicated and expensive then it should have been. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT USING UNIQUE RESTORATON! read more

Say it with me people - FLAKEY! We tried these guys because we got their information from our insurance company.... they'll be hearing about this one. While the people who actually did the work did a decent job (remove giant tree that fell over in wind storm and replace foundation wall), everyone else was flakey even for contractors. Strike one was when they said they would be there early and didn't communicate that they would be late costing me 2 hours of much needed sleep. Strike two was cutting and capping a plumbing line without testing it before they left. Strike three was promising a plumber would be there to restore water to my laundry room by end of business - the guy was on his way at 2:30 and was still "on his way" at 6:30, so guess what? You're done. Newsflash - You are only as good as the people who work for you. Instead of letting them mishandle the rain gutters and fixture repairs that we originally hired them to do - we got our personal plumber here to fix the line and our regular people to take over the job. Over the weekend they left a HUGE pile of cement mixing supplies in my driveway, taking up over half of it and blocking the walkway to my front door. They tried to bill us for a new fence when they made the repairs with the existing one. The supervisor was supposed to show up and inspect the job and collect payment between 12 - 2. At 3:00 there is still no sign of this guy and no communication. So we call Frank to tell him we will email the pictures and where should we send the payment. All Frank could say was "Sorry". I own a condo in the valley and water from the neighboring unit flowed into and damaged some areas in my apartment. When I called my insurance company they sent an adjuster out the same day and another person whom I wasn't sure what he was doing there at the time. However, this was a contractor that had been called by the Insurance Company to assist with the claim. His name was Frank, from Unique Restoration. The first meeting that day, I didn't realize at the end of the adjustors inspection that he would have the contractor out, and it seemed assumed that I would just go ahead and sign a contract there without a good explanation of why this company. I asked for another name, but in the end and because I'm so busy, I just decided to go ahead with this contractor. The problem with this setup, is that the Contractor doesn't really feel that your the customer in this case. Really your just a third party - the ones that they really care about is and the person whom they really feel is their valued client is the Insurance Adjustor who has the power to bring them to situations like this where they can walk into no bid jobs. I really wished that I had the time to interview other companies, but I didn't and that's it. As far as the work and the timeline. They told me that it would take about a week. Instead it took almost a month to complete the work. During this process they used a hallway to make cuttings for the wood floor that was installed. By cutting it in the hallway, with the noise and such, it caused a stink with my buildings HOA. This in turn then forced me to spend a Saturday with my HOA apologizing for them doing this in the hallway etc. My main gripe with this company was the following: 1. They made me feel like a number, not a client. 2. They didn't finish the work anywhere close to when promised. 3. One of there supervisors, Johnny, was downright a Pain In The As. Couldn't get straight answers from him, difficult. 4 The Price! I knew that they would be outrageous in the price and I wasn't surprised. They had to install about 1100 Sq. Ft. of Wood Flooring. This would have cost me about $2000.00 Painting in the downstairs about $1000.00 Repair of Drywall about $500.00 Installation of about 300 Sq. Ft. of Carpet about $1000.00 If I used a contractor that I've used in the past it would have been below about $4,000.00 including everything, start to finish and the job would have been completed in about 7-10 days. They charged the insurance company way over $10.,000.00. As far as I was concerned the quality of the coordination and the price, I give them only 1 Star. This kind of work, especially a very minor project like mine isn't complicated. In fact, many years ago I owned a Government Carpet Contracting Company in Washington DC. I even carpeted the White House several times. I know what this work involves, including the drywall and painting. The insurance companies get high bills from these guys at Unique Restoration and our Premiums (yours and mine) go up. read more

A month ago we had a sewer line fracture at our home causing flooding and exposure to mold. They did a pretty good job on redoing my apartment after water damage. They went out of their way to add extra elements to my kitchen that weren't there before like a built in spice rack and Lazy Susan in one of the cabinets. Unfortunately, you can tell the work isn't the best quality. Some of the cabinets doors are not installed well so they don't line up correctly and catch on the cabinet itself and the other door. The spice rack is not installed properly and is very hard to pull out. When I brought this up they said I just needed to use it more and it would fix itself. My biggest problem was in regards to my belongings. I was out of town and away from the apartment when the accident happened so I was told I could rely on them to let me know what was damaged. I received no pictures and was told everything from the countertop down was ruined along with my bed frame. Unfortunately when I got back some of those water damaged, moldy items were packed up and left to rot in boxes. Other items that I wasn't told were damaged, such as my box spring, Roku, Chromecast, TV antenna and Christmas lights are all missing. I've brought all of these thing to the company's attention and was told they would get right back to me. I haven't heard back since. I personally wouldn't recommend their services, but if you do use them make sure you know what you have before it goes missing. read more

It was not the least expensive quote I received, BUT it certainly covered the most. I had a leak behind my refrigerator in my condo that had been going for days without us noticing and caused a LOT of damage, most we couldn't even see. Chubb (amazing insurance company, deserves a shout out here) immediately sent UR to my place, I assumed they'd have to assess the damage and then come back to start work the next day. Nope, they immediately got to work that day after identifying the problem areas and explained exactly how they were going to fix it. They worked fast, efficiently and were very friendly. The repairs were extensive but after estimating a 2 week process, were finished in 1, good as new. They even fixed a few cracks in my paint that weren't part of the damage and threw in replacing my hard to reach light bulbs as a nice favor. Had the entire kitchen remodeled, they did a great job. A few minor dis-connects here and there but nothing that was an issue, as an architect I know there can be minor bumps in the road when having to do a major remodel but their guys did great work and the final outcome is a beautiful new kitchen.
