I hired Unique Reglaze to fix a chip in the bathtub at my house. When I initially called for a quote Mike was friendly, explained the entire process and gave me a competitively quote. After hiring him I had to postpone the repair last minute due to a family emergency that prevented me from being home for him to do the work. Mike was very understanding and got me back on the schedule right away. When it came time to do the work, Mike showed up on time and was very friendly. Unfortunately the epoxy patch didn't set right and started to lift on an edge. I brought it up to Mike and he immediately let me know the issue and got me back on the schedule for him to come out and fix it. The second time around the patch and color matching was spot on. Good communication and value. A little bit of overspray but they came back and took care of that. The tech unfortunately did not use blue or green tape, it was some sort of red tape killed off a bit the paint that had bubbled along the tile edge due to moisture. I'm not going to fault them for that since it could have likely peeled regardless of the tape used. The test will be how well it was prepped and if it lasts but very happy so far. Super nice guys but the work was sub-par, my tub had been epoxied previously and according to Mike that epoxy needed to be completely removed before re-glazing. That did not happen. So there were swales and pockmarks, the guy came back to "fix it" but just put another layer on top of the bottom of the tub. So now there's a distinct line and it's not the same color. Long story short, I spent $400 to repair a fiberglass tub that wasn't repairable in the first place. After two failed attempts to fix it, I got a second opinion and was told the tub was not repairable. The explanation was that if you push on the backrest of the tub where the cracks are opening up, it's very soft back there and the tub flexes into the space. This indicates rot behind the tub. When we went under the house for further inspection, that assessment was confirmed. The repair was never going to hold. When I told Mike about the issue, he got defensive and said there was no way they would know about this issue. It seems to me that someone who repairs tubs for a living should be able to push on it like the second guy did and figure out whether it can be repaired. But they didn't. Mike never came out to see the tub. I sent a few pictures, and he asked a few questions then told me could fix it. Also the guy Sergio who came to do the work didn't do an assessment of the integrity of the tub. He just jumped right into the reglazing. I did tell him that this seemed a bit like a scam to me. He has my $400 and I still have a cracked tub. He was super defensive and started going on about his background and how he hates contractors and that he isn't going to let this second person pass the blame onto him. None of which matters to me. What matters is my wasted $400. Fortunately, I had someone arrive at my front door and was able to end the conversation. Overall very disappointing that they didn't do better due diligence on the condition of the tub, took my money for a repair that was never going to work, and then got defensive about it. read more

I delayed this review because, well, I've been busy as hell at work, but also because I wanted to see how things held up after a while. My bathtub was refinished during MLK weekend, which was great because I was out of town for the 2 days necessary to let things set in. When I came home, my bathroom life changed. I don't know exactly when the bottom of my tub became hideous and unbearable, but I think a few little scratches eroded over time into haunting gashes waiting for me every time I showered.
