Absolutely do not waste your time here. I called four hours ahead to book a 4:30 appointment. I showed up on time and sat there past 5:15 over an hour and never got seen. Not a haircut, not an apology, not even an update. Only two barbers working, both slow, both clearly overbooked. Nobody came over to explain the wait or give me a real timeframe. When I finally said something about how long I'd been waiting, I was told "if you don't like it, get out," and then they started cursing at me. I left without getting my haircut at all. It's simple: if you make an appointment, you honor it. That's just being a man and owning up to your word. If you're running behind, pick up the phone and tell your clients before they make the trip. Instead I got attitude and cursing thrown at me for pointing out that I'd been sitting there for over an hour for something they confirmed themselves. That's not how a business is run that's childish gameplay. If the owner can't handle basic accountability without cursing out a paying customer, that says everything about how this place operates. Rude owner, rude experience, zero professionalism. Completely unacceptable. Would not recommend to anyone. read more

Randy was the one who cut my son's hair and he was sharp and did exactly what my son wanted. I knew this was the right place as soon as I walked in. I was greeted and welcomed by everyone there. A little backstory, my cousins have been coming here for years to get their fades. I myself have been cutting my hair for the longest time with a self cut system, an Andis T outliner and Andis masters clippers with the fade blade attachment. I have saved a pretty penny over 10 years, but recently I have let my hair grow out and it can be pretty tough to maintain and fade by myself, so I called my cousin and asked him do you know any good places for a fade around here, He said yeah Unique Reflections call and speak to Kevin, tell him Carlos sent you. I did exactly that and I am so glad that I did, I went to a couple local places but they were not good at all, but they tried. This place takes me back to the city, awesome smell goods, witty banter on popular topics that everyone can chime in on, there was even people their not getting cuts, just visiting. Kevin and his team of Big Phil and Monty, sorry if I forget anyone, use the most quality hardware, I'm talking the gold Babyliss clippers and pro FX trimmers, I didn't' know they come with a tool that lets you zero gap them?? They produce the best fades in my opinion. More importantly I over heard many times the beautiful words of our lord and savior Jesus Christ being spoken and that was the cherry on top of this Haircut sundae. I've found my new barber!! Called the shop and sit up my appointment with Kevin at 2 pm. When I arrived he was waiting on me and gave me a warm welcome to the shop. I was getting married and needed a haircut with a beard clean up. I found this place and decided to try it out. I was not disappointed! Wow I never had my hair look this good before!! The lady Cathy who cut my hair did a really nice fade for me and trimmed my beard down the the T. I didn't even have to do any touch ups it was perfect the way it was. Mr. Phil or I think Big Phil is an excellent Barber!!! That is the short review. However just to share I'm a very detailed person! I'm a nurse so details and customer service mean a lot to me! 1. We I went in I got in the chair immediately. 2. When I showed him what I wanted, there was no complaints or issues about what I was requesting even though I worked my hair which created some scarring and certain areas of my hair is very thin. FYI. You would never know it with the way he cut my hair!. The details on my hair is so on POINT even my son said where you go for that! He took his time and to be honest it looks better then the picture! I will definitely be going back on a regular for my cuts which is good because I thought I was going to have to travel back to Woodbridge, where I lived before Covid-19! Noise level loud that is expected, price not pricey at all. The barber lacked attention to detail in giving my cousin a haircut as a result my cousin suffered as the photo depicts plus his hairline was cut back about an inch. I love Unique Expressions. Big Phil has been my son's barber since he was 4 years old. My son was terrified when he was going for his first hair cut. Phil spoke so nice to him & taught him how to sit in the chair. Gave him his first big boy handshake and sweetened the deal with a piece of candy for good behavior. Little boys need to be in a shop with men modeling how to be gentleman. That's why I love Unique Expressions. I have been going to Unique Reflections for a year and I am soooo grateful for this barbershop. Everyone has amazing vibes especially my barber, Big Phil. Big Phil is humorous, kind and an extremely skilled barber. I moved to the Reston area a year ago and was nervous with finding a new barber and Big Phil was aware of my anxiety. But when I displayed my nerves unknowingly, he put my worries to rest with his jokes and warm disarming demeanor. And when he finished my first cut, i felt like the most stylist women (aka baddest b*^ch) in Reston. Big Phil has been my barber ever since! Also, a side note, the barbershop environment of Unique Reflections feels like you are coming to a summertime family reunion where everyone is vibing, enjoying music or cracking jokes on fellow barbers. Probably the best barbershop experience of my life. Called to ask if I could get in for a cut on my lunch break, I was told Bruce could see me right away. Everyone was friendly, the place is nicely decorated, and most importantly, Bruce had a steady hand and an artists eye. Definitely the cleanest cut I've ever had. Also plenty of good conversation and fun to be had. Great atmosphere. I'm a white male, with straight hair. I know other white dudes aren't sure if they can get their hair cut at a predominantly black shop. It's no issue, this shop is open to all and any barber will likely know how to cut all types of hair. If you're thinking about getting a modern high and tight cut, like I did, before you go to some overpriced salon and spend $70, think better of it and go here instead. To start off, the staff members were polite. However,let me tell you about how bad of an experience this was. I'm new to the area and wanted to try a new barber so I wouldn't have to travel hours to see my old one. I went to this shop due to raving reviews on Google and even on Yelp. This was a mistake to say the least. I asked for a simple fade, don't touch the top and don't line up the front. None of my requests were followed. The Barber ended up taking off plenty off of the top with his little scissor trick. I asked him where the patch of hair came from and he just said "I'm just shaping you up man, trust me." So I continue sitting there for a long hour and a half and to end it off he starts rounding off my hairline in the front. He then says, "Ahh man, I definitely forgot that you said you didn't want the front lined up. I'm going to fix it bro." I don't think anyone sitting in a barber's chair wants to hear "let me fix it." Anyway, at the end I am shown the mirror. Instead of me getting a fade, he gave me a high and tight. Completely shaped my head like a Sesame Street character, cut the top of my hair down to about a three, the left side was higher than the right side, didn't blend in the attempt at a fade, the sides of my head were completely bald, hairline was pushed back, and more. Now I don't even want to say like I'm really harping but this was a thirty two dollar haircut. There are no single blades to make the line sharper or anything. Then to top it all off, they don't take card. They have options like cash app and venmo. I didn't create a commotion even though I should have. I grew my hair out for months just for all of the hard work to hone my curls to be thrown out in just one hair cut. This was my worst experience at a barber ever. So bad that I had to shave my head bald and wear a hat everywhere. I would not recommend and I really wish that I could get my money back.
