I tow a 38' fifth wheel RV, plus an equipment trailer loaded with my 12,000 pound tractor, this shimmy issue made towing impossibly unsafe. I had taken my truck to a Ford dealer in Santa Rosa, where I bought it. The service advisor booked it in for a 2 day inspection. The dealer advised that I had a major issue with the transfer case, tie rod ends and two tires. Their estimate, $7109.80. It just didn't make sense, so I declined. I took it to Lakeport Tire. Their service advisor knew immediately what the problem was. A stability bar as part of the front suspension. The estimate was, and accurately $1200. Which included a host of other services. The repair was done timely, totally cured the issue. My truck drives fine now, even towing heavy loads. I am very pleased with Lakeport Tire, their knowledge base and customer service. I'm so pleased that next up is my C8 Corvette in for yet its own perplexing issue. I trust they'll handle the repair as well as my truck.

Then I remembered that I had taken my ole Chrysler Caravan to them back in around 2004 or 2005, and that many of my (smarter and more frugal) neighbors went there too. Now, I don't know why it took me so long to reach out to others for a suggestion...imprudently independent, maybe. But, better late than never, and I'm so glad I did. I called at 4:45pm on a Friday (yeah, I'm that genius), and Mr. Young was as kind and patient as he could be. I described the problem and he said that a rock had probably just gotten into my brakes, and that he'd be happy to look at it in the morning. When was the last time a car mechanic tried to save you money and not exaggerate the problem to justify their rates? And especially if you're a woman? Mr. Young sounded like an honest man and a straight shooter on the phone. When I showed up without an appointment two days later at 4:30pm, he was just as kind. He said he could look at it in the morning, so I left it overnight. He replaced the rotors, calipers, and pads and was done by 10:30 the next morning. His price was very fair. He also said that I should only drive on surface streets until I could get new tires because the tires showed threads. He was actually concerned for my safety, which I really appreciated. He gave me a quote for tires that was very competitive. I'm about to schedule tires. I don't recommend people casually, but I get a really good feeling about his outfit. At the risk of making him too busy, I thought the public should know that there's still an honest mechanic out there.

Here's my experience with the current owner... I brought my car in because the brakes were sticking. Brian quoted $2,600 for brakes, a battery, and tires, including $800 for the tires. I declined the tires, but he said they were unsafe and would not release the car unless I bought tires from him or had it towed. Without AAA coverage, I felt trapped and pressured into purchasing them, leaving me unable to afford the brake repair. He told me verbally that the car was ready Thursday. I returned Monday because he was closed Friday through Sunday. He then claimed I owed storage fees starting Thursday, despite providing no written notice of the start date, daily rate, or required statement of charges under California Civil Code section 3068. I even offered to pay for Monday's storage because the lot was busy and because he had worked Monday rather than Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, which I believed would have been a fair compromise. He was unwilling to compromise. Instead, he threatened to charge about $900 in retroactive storage fees if I did not remove the car by 6 p.m. Monday, including days when he had the car for repairs and was not available for me to retrieve it. When I requested a written invoice, he refused to provide one until I paid. The attached invoice was provided only afterward. When I disputed the charges, he essentially told me to take him to court. I felt cornered and pressured to pay disputed charges without documentation. I later noticed that about 80% of his reviews appeared to be from men, causing me to question whether gender-based assumptions influenced his conduct toward me as a woman.

If you do ignore the warning it is on YOU... I took my four year old pickp to them for non start issue. Had it AAA towed. Called S&K when AAA informed me it arrived there. Talked to S_ _ _ _ on the phone and didn't offer a work was needed. My 1st mistake. AAA gave S&K my key. I went later in the day and discovered the drivers door had large dent, Window was down and it was raining a serious downpour. I tried to talk to the two owners but they were busy closing up for the weekend. My key was locked up inside the office and they were gone. Now the rain poured into my leather seats and dash all weekend. So dented door, water damaged leather seats and electrical under dash. I ended taking it to dealership for the fix. The dealer said my ECM under the dash had shorted due to rain and fried my fuze box and damaged the finer things like radio and TCU and some smaller circuits. The repair of drivers door, replaced seats, ECM and other items as well as the reason for non start, the ( oil pressure sensor ) and the tiny paint chips due to the other cars parked to close at S&K ding ding ding warning Warning WARNING !!! The simple $90 job to replace a pressure sensor was a $9648. plus towing. Now the CarFax showed damage and it reduced my $52100. truck to $38800. Warning, this place is a grease pit that is so f_ _n bad that the grease killed the shade tree. OH yah, they took my new K&N air filter and put in an old dirty paper filter.

Needed a simple Power steering line installed. These morons were unable to replace the line…read morecorrectly. They broke off brackets that held the original line in place. Then bent and twisted the new line and re-routed it over the topof the engine, where if I need to work on the valve covers I would have to remove the power steering line. The line is now in a very hot dangerous place with out proper insulation. save your time and money and take your work somewhere else.

I had multiple problems but Raul only charged me the bare minimum of less than one hour when he spent half a day on my vehicle. I have never ever been dealt with so professionally and wonderfully by any mechanic! He may be the most honest and generous mechanic in the country!
