Brought in one of my cats for the past year because of allergies. They could not determine without further expensive testing but I could not afford that, so bought two bottles of Atopica over a period of months to try to alleviate her discomfort and end the problem. After months of administering - Unsuccessful. Brought her again and they voiced expensive testing. Bought a $55 bag of subscription food but to no avail. Brought her back and they suggested another steroid shot and checked her sores and skin. Got her another steroid shot. Each time they would check her fur all over, not just around the sore spots. Nothing. Suggested again expensive testing. I finally had to surrender her a couple weeks ago to one of the employees because I could not afford the testing they said was the last resort and they could then do the testing. Better than putting a less than two year old cat to sleep - which was the only alternative. She was miserable and uncomfortable. I could not keep her feeling this way. I called today and got a very accusatory tone from the individual I talked with as she told me numerous times that the cat was very loving and sweet and the problem was fleas and worms which they remedied. So, that is all the testing they had to do. All my animals are on flea prevention ALWAYS! They had checked this cat for about a year and could not find that in all that time? They never suggested testing for tape worms and I would have known if that was the case since I was always the one that cleaned up after her when she would poo on the cat room floor.
That solution I could afford - dewormer, flea prevention (which she was always on), testing for worms, allergy meds and the examination.
I would still have her if they would have done their job correctly.
