Unfortunately, our experience with administration and leadership was very different. We chose this SNF because of the excellent care my mom received at CPMC's acute rehab years ago, but ultimately left feeling like we had made the wrong choice. There was little orientation or communication when we got transfered in which felt very in welcoming. My dad was transferred to his room, asked intake questions, and left waiting to meet his nurse. He was then moved multiple times during his first few days, which was difficult and uncomfortable for him. We also never met the case manager listed on his board. Communication continued to be a concern throughout his stay. During one therapy session, a staff member repeatedly said "tick tock" while my dad was struggling with significant pain, which felt dismissive and lacking compassion. The most disappointing part was discussing hospice. We were simply trying to understand our options and make an informed decision, but staff repeatedly treated our questions as though we had already chosen hospice. A referral was placed before we had made a decision, and a social worker came in that same afternoon said she needed a discharge date. We never saw her again which was very off putting and cold. We were repeatedly pressured for an answer despite explaining we needed the week to get all information needed and to talk to his doctors. At one point, a doctor even told my dad he was going home that night when no arrangements had been made. My dad responds best to patience and encouragement, but the more he was rushed, the more anxious and frustrated he became. We tried explaining this to the therapy team, but never felt anyone took the time to truly understand him or build a positive relationship with him. We understand this is a workplace, but for patients and families, these are life-changing moments. Compassion, patience, clear communication, and simply slowing down can make all the difference. Sadly, we did not experience the warmth and compassion we had come to expect from CPMC.

They are very understaffed and that's probably demoralizing the care team, and it shows in the way they treat their patients and patient families. Dont try to call the nurse stations, no one ever picks up and no one returns voicemails - their staff even said to us that vm won't be returned. Any time we asked a question of the care team, when we could hunt someone down, they didn't know the answer and gave us a blank look. I was speaking with one nurse and he ignored me and was filling out a form for someone else the entire time. You have to REALLY go in person and demand attention and advocate for your family member's needs. For the week she was there, one of the two elevators was down so we took the fire escape stairs (which staff recommended) since the only working one was SO slow. Obviously the patients can't take the stairs so the worst part was it meant there was no access to the whole 6th floor - which is where the physical therapy/rehab space is!! So ignore their pics of PT equipment and the pretty glass roof and view, it was blocked off for all the patients! It also meant they canceled all the communal activities! Also the food is terrible, so mom barely ate anything the whole time she was there. We visited every day and never saw veggies, and saw plain hotdogs (no condiments) and tots, dry gyros, etc., and cheap fake extremely sugary "fruit juice". Nothing healthy at all.

My grandfather was not properly taken care of. It is a run down facility and I would not recommend…read moretaking family here if you need anything more than the bare minimum. When problems arouse there was a prolonged delay in treatment, not enough nurses+CNAs to patient ratio and the CNA/students use patient rooms as their storage. If your loved one has dementia, do not take them here. They will not get the assistance they need for daily living. I will say Remy (nurse) and Ray (cna) were absolutely amazing and the only good thing from this facility

I was told lies by multiple staff as to the well being of my sister. My calls of concern were quickly disconnected. Most info was found to be untrue concerning bed sitters, feeding, bathing, and changing. After being told my Sister was bathed the previous day, I visited and found her too heavily sedated to even eat or drink, same socks and clothing from a week ago, dirty sheets, nails dirty and curled over, and mouth shriveled from dehydration. I used a q-tip end and scraped out large chunks of buildup under each nail. Hours before my sister passed, I had been hung up on 4 times in a row before being told they don't known if anyone showered her, and then just saying yes to all questions in an attempt to end conversation. I verified info with hospice and was told they probably hung up because they were busy doing rounds. Many uncontracted nurses told me I need to get my sister out of there before they kill her. She was left alone in a different town where she was suppose to receive comfort dignity and respect. She died in filth, starved and over medicated. She spent the 75 days prior to this move alert and awake in the hospital. One day here was all it took for them to make the decision that her behavior requires heavy sedation around the clock due to agitation. I am having a hard time even finding the words to express my disgust for my experience here. I couldn't get my sister out of there fast enough and now she is gone. Please look for a better home for your loved one.
