You can tell when someone really takes an interest in making your event perfect versus just providing a service. I've been to other events there as well (social functions, work functions, etc), and have heard similar positive comments from others who booked Zilker Lodge. We actually got married a month prior in MA, but needed to celebrate the occasion with all our friends who live here with us in TX. This event space was perfect for a party on a budget. The view- I mean, come ON, was just incredible, and the backdrop for everyone's photos! People could not stop talking about how phenomenal it was. The process of getting the place was a bit tricky, as I could not navigate their government website to select the date and missed the cut-off time before having to do the lottery. Luckily, not a lot of people were begging for dates in August as the venue does not have air conditioning- so the heat was a bit brutal (but that's Texas!)- but we got it no problem! I ended up calling and the person I spoke to was very helpful. Speaking of air conditioning- or lack-there-of- we ended up renting some swamp coolers (huge cooling fans that run off of ice- but a LOT of ice!!) to help with the heat. There are ceiling fans and a few industrial fans included- but those don't help too much in August! I had a hard time figuring out what exactly we needed- so I'm going to add a quick "plug" for Preferred Climate Solutions our of Hutto, TX. They worked ZPC before and knew how to set things up. Brett even had an extra swamp cooler from an earlier event he let us use. Moving on- because this place doesn't require use of specific vendors- it made it that much affordable. We hired Slab BBQ to cater and Pixster photo booth for fun. For drinks, we filled out the necessary paperwork (some cheap $10ish permit? I can't quite remember) and we're able to just bring in a few kegs and boxes of wine from PartyBarn. Everything went off without a hitch! Good to note- the place provides a bunch of tables. Two huge round ones, a few smaller round and rectangle ones, and some nice cocktail tables we used on the patio. (The cocktail tables and one rectangular were good enough condition to go without tablecloths- the rest require coverings.) For lighting- it was definitely important to us to get string lights on the patio. I realized last minute that getting a few hundred feet of lights was going to be trickier than I initially thought- since I had to consider ones that connected and could manage the power of 300 ft of lights. I used Americanpartylights.com- it worked out great! They included zip ties which is important since it's against the park rules to use tape (holds better anyways.) I found a great diagram of ZPC patio for the light arrangements and measurements (photo included.) It was a perfect celebration and I HIGHLY recommend this space for any event! It has such a cool vibe even without decorations, your set up can be minimal and still look amazing. Plus... that VIEW!

The oak trees were stunning and there were so many cute little spots to take photos, and in such a great location. They were very easy to work with and flexible, and we were able to come visit and walk through any time we wanted before the wedding. 2 things to keep in mind: 1. There is no indoor space that is big enough for chairs and tables (unless you have a very small wedding - I think maybe it was under 50?) so you do have to have a rain plan. They only work with 1 tent vendor, Monarch Event Rentals, so you can't shop around on prices. We actually had rain and had a pretty good experience with Monarch, but it was an extra $3k - consider that possibility in your budgeting. 2. Our wedding was about 100 people, and that felt really like the most tables you could possibly cram in that space. They say they can hold up to 150, but to achieve that you'd probably have to put people uncomfortably close together or put tables in weird places. I know they say something like it's best suited for under 100 but can go up to 150, but I would consider your absolute max like 110 at this venue.

There are walkways paved with marriage bricks from donors, hidden corners to explore, and even a wizarding academy that both of my girls immediately wanted to join. I had to remind them, "That is not what we are doing today. What we are doing today is making sure your sister has an idea of how we're going to decorate for her wedding day." But honestly? My girls did not want to leave. One of them had pickleball at 4:30 in Austin and completely missed it, and my very pregnant daughter had already skipped her nap and still hadn't had lunch. I kept saying, "Don't you need to go play pickleball? Don't you need to go take a nap and eat?" Nope. They still didn't want to leave. Yeah. It's that kind of spot. There was something to find around every corner. There was beer being served at 1 p.m., and the whole place felt so relaxed and joyful that my very pregnant daughter almost considered taking a drink. Even the door had a door sign. Which honestly? Perfect. It's a sign. On a door. About doors that are signs. I saw the signs, y'all. You should definitely book here. It's free, beautiful, and you're never gonna wanna go home. I also had the chance to watch a bride and her family trickle in, and it was truly magical. The chapel itself is beautiful, but the whole experience felt bigger than the building. It felt warm, human, peaceful, and full of story. That day, I also met both Ana, a photographer connected with Chapel Dulcinea, and officiant David James Nutter, and both left an impression. Even though I didn't watch Ana actually photograph the wedding, I did get to watch her set up and talk about the chapel with so much care and warmth. Later, I looked at her wedding photography online, and her work is breathtaking. Truly. It has the kind of beauty and tenderness you would expect from someone who is not just talented, but deeply caring. She also offers her services at a very decent price, which honestly says a lot about her heart. Her work looks like luxury, but her spirit feels generous. I also met officiant David James Nutter, and hearing his story was incredibly moving. We spoke about how he grew up in the Orthodox church and how that journey shaped him into someone deeply committed to serving people from all walks of life. His warmth, kindness, and openness stood out immediately. He listened thoughtfully as I shared parts of my own story and even followed up afterward with supportive messages. That kind of care is rare. We arranged for a non-traditional chair set up (they have really much white chairs that don't really need anything) and for the gas lanterns to be lit for the ceremony, and the set up was completely flawless when we arrived. The views are stunning pretty much any time of year, just perfect for amazing Hill Country photos, and you don't need a whole lot of extra decor...nature has it covered. We brought in only 2 black metal lanterns donned with candles and florals and perched them on the wood stumps on either side of the bell tower door at the front the for the ceremony, and it was perfect in every way. We highly recommend this location for a small wedding-you won't be disappointed!

Star Hill Ranch looks like a little cowboy western town. Something straight out of a western tv movie. With little buildings, a small church, and a gorgeous back drop. Some used cheese that I've never heard of. Some using my personal favorite cheese and some of the most inventive toppings. Flaming hot Cheetos, green onions, pickled onions, pickles, just so creative outside the standard mac & cheese. No Kraft box in sight at this event! Event itself was very well organized. A speaker came on a few times and asked how everyone was doing, getting the crowd of people pumped up. Making sure everyone was informed throughout. A lot of crew members walking around too to answer questions and guiding people to the right areas. There were some tables overlooking the gorgeous back drop of the mountains and stage. Everywhere was a photograph moment. I would absolutely go back next year. I would probably get the VIP tickets verses the general addition. The VIP gets you into lounges and an hour earlier into the event.

After googling drive through weddings in Austin trying to find something similar to Vegas, I came across this little white chapel. The photos are just as cute as in person and the couple who officiate are the absolute sweetest. They make the moment special but also light hearted and friendly. We upgraded to go in instead of drive through and I am so glad I did. She took great photos with our phone (you can also upgrade that too, to professional photos). There are several packages to chose from with even more upgrades if you like. They are adding on to the back and it is looking super cute if you want an evening wedding with lights outside etc. The airstream they have is super cool too. Overall such a wonderful experience and I am so glad we found this little treasure hidden in the hill country hills.
