This is a beautiful, clean, bright market. It has high ceilings, and a very nice selection of meat that was certainly overpriced. But at least the cheese prices were fair. Or maybe the cheese prices just seemed fair, because their exorbitantness* is offset by the tons of free samples to be sampled. I can't remember. Either way, I'm a sucker for samples. I don't think I could regularly shop here on my budget. But as soon as my get-rich-quick scheme** pans out, I will be able to buy all my groceries here. I probably still won't, but you never know. You can't predict the future. _________ *This is not a word. But it should be. **I'm not going to tell you what it is. This whole footnote is just a tease.

As far as selection and freshness is concerned, I would give it 3-4 stars. A bit expensive, though. What is inexcusable is the crazy idea to put every little piece of bread in plastic. WTF? Is there not enough plastic in this world? Do we have to deliberately and totally unnecessarily trash the planet even more? Unreal.

One of the bigger grocery stores in the Cobble Hill section of Brooklyn has a fine selection of meats, fish, produce and much else of what you'll need to stock up on. Having said that, prices are a bit too high to make this a regular shopping stop and the staff is rather brushoffish. It's good to come for a couple things but it's too expensive for basic items.

Having gotten burned at a couple of 'chain' markets in the area, we go to Union Market whenever we're shopping for meat, poultry, or fish. Price-wise - it's a bit upscale but the food selection is uniformly good if you are looking for a one-stop shop as opposed to hitting a slew of specialty grocers. But this isn't the place to find household staples like aluminum foil, cleansers, or sponges. The staff is friendly and polite, unlike some of the surly folks behind the registers at other grocery stores. The one complaint I have has nothing to do with the store actually. Word of advice to parents who have to bring their 'little darlings' in... learn to park your stroller so it doesn't block the aisles or leave it outside. Most of us didn't do hurdles in high school and we're not interested in mastering them in a grocery environment. And while you might enjoy little Caleb's spirited romping, it doesn't endear him to your fellow shoppers. So restrain him or leave him at home.

The Double/adjacent doors to enter and no entry are just dumb and ineffective. Just fine, more of a spot to browse and find things you might want to locate and purchase elsewhere for less. $2 Levelup credit for an overpriced chocolate bar: Transaction Amount $2.17 Credit Applied -- $2.00 Total Spent $0.17

Do not trust anything from here. It has a distinct smell of rodent feces/urine and bleach.

This is a convenient stop for me to grab coffee and (in cool weather) oatmeal for a mid morning break after taking the kids to school.

This is a brilliant little grocery with all the essentials and quite a bit of Asian variety…read moreavailable too, along with a small produce selection. There's a lot packed in there! It's a good choice for coffee, snacks, but also fennel, vegan food, kimchi, or eucalyptus cuttings (and, like many small grocery stores, some things are better deals than others). Importantly for the neighborhood, Bad Wife also sell live plants and flowers at very reasonable prices. In the spring and summer, they'll often have flowering plants available. I've always had great interactions with the staff here, and am a fan of the place.

Earlier today, I purchased several plants. In the evening, I returned to the store to return those…read moreitems, for a refund. I no longer wanted those plants. Mrs. Lee refused to accept the return. She referred to a sign that read, plants are not returnable. That particular sign was displayed at at the back of the plant section, on a high shelf. Interestingly enough, at the cash register, there is a sign that states, "Refund policy provided within 2 days receipt." It is mandatory for stores to visibly display their return policy at the cash register. 'The Bad Wife' failed to do so. Mrs. Lee's attitude was rude and dismissive despite being told return policies must be clearly visible by the cash register.
