These guys are very good at what they do. But there are many repair shops that can compete. But what other shops can't compete with is the honestly and trust with union line. If you have ever brought your car to another shop and you randomly have more problems than when you went in, this is the shop for you. If they think they are slick and try to pile on extra charges, union line is the place for you. Best customer service I've seen from a repair shop. Also very quick, clean, but thorough work. Very honest, even told me there are current problems that don't need to be fixed at the moment to save me money(when they could have made the bill larger if they wanted to). Even washed my car when they were done! read more

Cannot tell you how happy we are with Union Line Garage. Kyle and Jonathan are the nicest, honest, professional people. All of the workers are knowledgeable and do a thorough service. Union Line Garage - Union Line Garage Auto is the Hopewell, NJ area's choice for all your car repairs & service. - Auto Repair Near Me - Pennington, New Jersey

Several Bad Experiences - Lack of Accountability and Care I brought my car in for a major repair, spending over $3,500. Six months later, the same issue reappeared. When I returned, they claimed it was a "different component" and charged me another $3,000+. No ownership of the original work or offer to make things right. I left the car with them for 4 weeks while I was traveling--plenty of time for repairs. When I returned, the onboard computer system (which was working when I dropped it off) was completely dead. They insisted I pick up the car as-is and blamed water damage--despite the fact that the computer is nowhere near the leak near the rearview mirror. Their refusal to repair what they clearly damaged was unacceptable. Worse, I'm not alone. A friend had a similar experience--months of back-and-forth before getting a proper fix. This garage takes your money, refuses responsibility, and leaves you worse off. Avoid. read more

Jonathan and Kyle and their team provide good service and competent repairs. Rides are offered to and from your local home or work location, and the car is washed after being service. I understand that "recommended" services should always be suggested, and it's up to the owner to decide what should be done. However, I think it's important for Jonathan and Kyle to keep in mind the car owner's budgetary concerns about the age of the vehicle and how the vehicle is used by the owner. I also would appreciate more of a discount where a significant amount of work is being done. read more

Was looking for a company to do pre-purchase inspection on an expensive used vehicle. Car was in NJ and I am on West Coast. After talking with Kyle about the process and getting his feedback I decided to move forward with them doing the inspection. Car dealer dropped car at Garage. I had detailed (write-up and pic's) feedback next day. I could not have picked a better option for this service/capability. Has to be some of the best $$'s I ever spent. Professional, honest, fair... Not sure what else to say. I wish they were in my city.. read more

They got my car in right away to change the headlight and just charged the 22 dollars for the part. Now that's good customer relationship building! read more

I already reviewed Union Line last november, but I wanted to say that I wouldn't bring my car anywhere else. I now live in Neshanic Station (about 40 minutes away) and I STILL choose to bring my car to Union Line. No matter who I speak to, I get honesty and all the details I need to feel confident in spending my money there. I am more than happy to continue bringing in my vehicle and encouraging others to bring theirs as well! Overall, you are getting the best service, best value and you truly can't beat their customer service. read more

I have been going to Union Line Garage for years for all maintenance and repairs on my BMW. Service and work are excellent, any repairs needed are fully explained and what the cost will be. This is the best auto repair shop I've ever used... and I've used. Lot! First, and most importantly, they are 100% honest. They have always given me the truth, no matter how good or bad the news happens to be. Second, they take their time explaining what is going on, taking pictures, and ensuring I understand the situation. Third, their work is simply the best. High quality, timely but thorough, and always use the best available parts. Finally, they give fair and honest pricing. They are clear in what the costs are and why it costs that much. I have older cars. They have many, many miles in them. They fix them well. I sometimes ask if I should get rid of them since they are frequently in the shop. In some cases they say yes. In other cases they are clear about the quality of the cars and their expected life-spans. They always give sound advice. I trust them implicitly. read more

A friend recommended Union Line Garage to me. Unfortunately, I had to have a very expensive part replaced, but I was very happy with the job. I met Kyle when I arrived and he was very kind, friendly and easy to talk to. He explained everything in detail to me. I had to leave the car an extra day so they were kind enough to let me use a loaner. I also met Jonathan who was very personable. The car runs great and they even washed it for me. I have recommended a few friends already as I was so pleased with them and the work. Great garage!! read more

Union Line Garage has been our trusted Go To Garage for years. Johnathan & Kyle will go into great detail explaining exactly what your car needs and why. No high pressure sales tactics used here. They both will make you feel like family and even if you know nothing about cars you can be rest assured that you will be taken care of not taken to the cleaners by Union Line Garage. The job will be done right the first time and all of their work is guaranteed so you can't go wrong. If you drive a German car I would not let anyone else touch it except for these guys. We have been fortunate to be using Union Line for many years for a variety of vehicles (BMW, Subaru, Honda, Nissan, Fiat). Unfailingly professional, courteous, timely and thorough. Kyle and Jonathan have gone above and beyond on numerous occasions to make sure that we have been fully informed, each and every step of the way, as to what repairs were involved and the corresponding cost. And the extra service touches have been great--even picking up and dropping off my car at home. Just a terrific, first class group. read more

BEWARE! THESE GUYS ARE FRAUDS! I have never once left a review for anything, but felt compelled to do so because this place is RIPPING PEOPLE'S LUNGS OUT! My Dad has gotten his Mercedes serviced here, so I took my 2011 GLK350 for an auto trans fluid flush. Apparently, my car needed way more work! The following is what they said needs to be done and what they are quoting: Front Differential Leaking - $2500 Upper Radiator Hose Leaking (flush and replace thermostat) - $650+ Auto Trans Fluid Flush - $460 Front and Rear wipers (Mercedes brand) - $90+ Exhaust Clamp - $65+ Cabin & Engine Air Filters - $100+ Total = $4k with tax I took my car to a local, HONEST auto shop for a second opinion: Front differential is fine, but the front axel needs to be replaced = $300 Upper Radiator hose is FINE Auto Trans Fluid Flush - $300 Exhaust Clamp = $30 Cabin & Air filters are maybe 10% used, they looked almost brand new (he showed me) - DO NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED Wipers - $25 from any auto store They claimed that my wipers needed to be Mercedes or else they will scratch the windshield. They didn't even look to see that it wasn't a Mercedes windshield - it was replaced by Safelite a couple of years ago. One exhaust clamp was cracked, but the service advisor tried to scare me and say how they will break and my exhaust will fall and it will be EXPEN$$$$IVE. He also tried scaring me regarding the front differential and how if I continue to drive on it, a replacement will be $5k+. I will never go to this place again. They are either morons or SHYSTERS who are committing FRAUD on their customers. They deserve to go out of business. They lost 2 customers (my Dad and I) as well as the ability to work on 3 Mercedes and 1 BMW. BUYER BEWARE!!!! read more

I see some glowing reviews for Union Line and they do a good job. However, if you are looking to save some money, do the research on your repair like i did here. They charged me $589.15 for a valve cover gasket repair that should have cost almost a third of that. And when i question them on this, the reply is well, we give you a 3 year warranty on the repair. Most garages and repair shops offer the same thing for warranties, so there is no value provided for the substantial cost difference. Valve Cover Gasket ReplacementThe average cost for a Jeep Wrangler valve cover gasket replacement is between $187 and $226. Labor costs are estimated between $140 and $178 while parts are priced between $47 and $48. Estimate does not include taxes and fees. View repair cost for a different car read more

I changed the battery which was old. The battery was changed while I waited. The garage changed the burned light bulb as well and charged only for cost of the bulb. All work was done very well and on time. Highly recommend for cars worth putting labor in! read more

I have used Union Line Garage exclusively for our two German cars for the past . . . maybe six years now. That is so helpful for busy professionals and families. Jonathan and Kyle couldn't be more courteous or patient. Give Union Line a try-you won't be disappointed! read more

Ever been in my position and been worried about who to take your car to because you weren't entirely sure you could trust the staff? Concerned about getting swindled or deceived? Concerned that your own questions and concerns will be ignored or dismissed? From the moment the gentleman at Union Line answer the phone to the moment you're getting your keys and heading off of their property, satisfaction, comfort, trust, and respect, are the impressions you will walk away with. These guys are as honest and straightforward as they come and the integrity of their work speaks for itself. In my personal experience I felt like Jonathan and Matthew always made me feel incredibly welcome and allowed me to feel comfortable in sharing all of my questions comments and concerns. No matter how many times I called! And I can be pretty persistent! They will go out of their way to make sure that you're taking care of even if they are not going to gain anything additional from from that effort. I brought my car there for repairs knowing that it was probably going to be the last investment I made on that vehicle before selling it and Jonathan even went so far as to suggest I call him in the future to run ideas past him with my hunt for a new car. They bring it to a personal level and that feeling you get knowing that this wasn't just about your car but also about connecting with their customers, cannot be overstated. It is so very rare to find people that take this much pride in what they do and also in the service they provide to you as a person. Although their work is impeccable, the most startling aspect of the experience really lies in their ability to make you feel secure, taken care of, respected, and cared for. Even when there's nothing in it for them they will go out of their way to help you out. That's just the type of people they are. Give them a try and you will not be disappointed. read more

Very happy with outcome! What great customer service and I felt that an update to correct my previous review should be done. So right after the review I received a call from the owner (Brett) regarding the concerns I wrote about. I never expected the owners to call or contact me so this was a surprise. He explained in detail what they did to the car after looking at my file and discussing with the mechanic and service adviser. He even called a BMW dealer to compare the price of the battery and ibs cable and yes UL price was less expensive. There's not alot of businesses that go above and beyond and Union Line Garage does just that. I really appreciate how they call and connect unlike the big box garages (your just a number). I am now a 100% loyal client and highly support and recommend them. read more

Union Line Garage.. knows what customer service is about! From the no pressure interactions to the knowledge helpful staff, they get it. They offer a courtsey shuttle service to get you to home/work as well as timely updates on your repairs. As a female, service shops often try to put one over on you including Dealer Service shops. Not Union LIne, they thoroughly explain as well as recommend options. They don't up sell repairs rather do what's necessary. Kyle was excellent... who couldn't have been more pleasant. Finally, the getting a auto repaired doesn't feel like going to the dentist! read more

My daughter's VW Jetta had a timing belt failure. A friend of mine suggested I take it to Union Line Garage. Had the car towed to the shop. Upon my arrival I met Service Manager Jonathan. He detailed me on everything that would be done to correctly diagnose the problem. I felt very confident that I was in the right place. The very next day, Jonathan called and explained what what discovered through diagnostics as well as visual inspection. He also explained the game plan on what repairs would be required to get the car running again. The next day he called with GREAT NEWS, that they got the engine running. We were thrilled to say the least! The following day I received a phone call from Kyle who told me that the car was ready ant that they had completed all the repairs that Jonathan had told me about. There were no other surprises. I felt that the price of the repairs and work done was very fair. We will DEFINITELY be returning to UNION LINE GARAGE for all of my daughter's VW maintenance and repairs. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this fine business to anyone who might be looking for a new garage that they can trust the staff and workmanship!! It was my pleasure doing business with them! read more

I had taken my wife's Range Rover Sport SC in for a routine service, oil/filter and air filter change. In doing a check of the vehicle, the tech noticed the bushings needed to be addressed. They called and asked if the truck was under warranty, which it was, and instructed me to bring it to the LR dealer for the replacement. The dealer looked at the vehicle and said the bushings were fine as is, so I didn't do anything more. On the next service, I got the same call, only this time asking why the bushings weren't replaced. I said the dealer informed me they were fine. The tech at Union Line asked for the rep's name at the dealer, which I gave. It took about 15 minutes before the dealer called to schedule an appt to take care of the bushings and some other items. Seems the Union Line tech called and subsequently emailed him photo to prove the work needed to be done. Yes, they're more expensive than other shops, but they have definitely gone above and beyond to make sure my wife's truck is safe. read more

BMW 328i 2008. Starter change cost over $900. I asked same job to 2 other shops, the quote came back around $500 below. I was on the road and no choice but fix the car in the area. I don't understand why they are charging almost double as what the normal cost should be. read more

This was a couple years ago but came across the little packet of mints they give you in my junk drawer and it reminded me to write this. My mother and I have pretty much the same vehicle which had a recall that was paid for by the company and there was limited places to go to get the work done. I brought mine in, they did the work, no problems. My mom brings hers in and they give her a list of things that the car "needed done" which totaled to over 6,000 dollars. I suppose they did not expect her son was a reasonably proficient "shade tree", if you will, mechanic. Me and my friend went over the car and looked at everything they said was wrong and the only thing we needed to actually replace was a leaky O ring on something to do with the power steering or braking or something, to be honest I forget exactly what it was at this point it was so inconsequential i forget by this time. One of the kickers is they said it needed a new rear shock (which on that car is quiet expensive just for that part alone) but I took it off AND had a busted one that was actually busted from the same model from a car that isn't even mine that I had replaced to compare it to. The shock on my moms car was not leaking whatsoever and full body weight pushing down would not give.... put it back on and its been fine for several years now and 10s of thousands of miles. I don't even remember at this point what all the other extraneous BS they said the car needed but it was a joke. They were trying to take advantage of what they perceived to be a single woman with no car knowledge. And I also have to wonder if they would have actually even replaced the parts they claimed to be broken or not. Maybe they would have ordered the parts and put them on even though they weren't broken. And then what happens? Probably pop those good but used parts onto some else's car? Complete scam. Never bring your car to this place. I actually feel fortunate that this recall allowed me to realize what a ripoff artist this place is before I had a problem with my car I didn't feel like dealing with in my unheated garage or driveway in the middle of winter without a lift and made the mistake of bringing my car there. Also to chime in on what someone else said in these reviews about wondering why there's 5 star reviews and suspecting they are fake/family/friends: just glancing through several of these great reviews they read exactly like the kind of generic stuff you would put on the website of your own business. "conveniently found off I 95" "union line is the place for you!" Give me a break. That stuff just reads like an advertisement. I could be wrong but I doubt it, Edit shortly after posting this: I glanced at my records and it was a vacuum pump seal that I replaced that they wanted to charge a complete replacement for, I have to assume at this point of their dishonesty they would have just done the gasket and charged for the whole thing, because how would that 50 something woman know the difference? And they said it needed rear pads AND rotors. The pads had probably 10k left on them but I replaced them anyway while I had the car but the rotors were absolutely fine, and still are to this day. Also the rear shock I mentioned they said was bad I looked and they wanted to "replace" both of them. Self leveling shocks at 800ish bucks a pop even before whatever upcharge they would tack on. Shocks that have absolutely nothing wrong with them. But to be fair, you guys are right, the front axle seal does have a small leak. And has for a few years. And has not been an issue whatsoever. read more

We feel we're a little late to the party that it's taken us five years of living here to realize what a local gem our town has in Union Line Garage. We've always opted to take my 2014 Mercedes E-class convertible to the Mercedes dealership for all needed maintenance and/or repairs, even after it was out of warranty. We had a couple relatively minor experiences, however, which made us question this decision - an oil change that wasn't necessary as they had just done one a few months before, a damaged tire that they neglected to tell us about, etc. - but we stuck with them, thinking they knew my car the best. Recently, however, we noticed the inside lining on the convertible roof seemed to have become snagged in the motorized mechanism. We took it into Mercedes who charged us $200 to look at it, only to tell us it was more major than it appeared and advised us to take it to a company that specializes in convertible tops. They also said we were possibly looking at having to replace the entire top for about $20K. Needless to say we were pretty shocked/surprised/disappointed that they were handing us off, not to mention the fact that we'd be facing such a major expense/repair on a 6 year old car that's been as well cared for as mine has been. We tried researching local convertible specialists, to no avail, and ultimately decided to reach out to Union Line to see if they could help us. They fit us in immediately, took a look at the problem, and were able to fix it for less than $500. And it has worked flawlessly in the four months since. They were courteous, professional, and most importantly of all, extremely competent. Mercedes Service Department has permanently lost a customer, and Union Line has gained one. We couldn't be happier or more impressed with their service. read more
