A huge shout out to our Maintenance men Manger Juan and Xavier for keeping our building up to par, smelling good and keeping everything working in our facility! I would recommend union heights to ANYONE! Thanks again Xavier and Juan

Elevator has been down for months

I wouldn't recommend anyone come here. The building are ran down now. The east side elevator has not worked since March. The trash room has trash crawling outside the door. I've seen roaches and mice partying together in the halls. We do not have access to certain amenities like the basketball court. There's two buildings but only one concierge. The leasing staff is rude. Maintenance staff are unprofessional and really don't get anything done. Well, Juan was very good and professional. My work orders were only completed because I email corporate office. If the leasing office isn't handling the issues in a timely manner, I have the right to report it to Greystar. Yet someone in the office forgot to hit reply instead of reply all in an email and it appears that she was bothered that I email bob@greystar.com. Months ago I suspected that whoever was in charge of the ledgers for the rent and utilities, was doing something shady, I brought it to management and corporate but it was never addressed.I said I would wait until after I moved out to leave a review but that seemed cowardice after seeing all the other reviews for Union Heights that are 100% true. Let's see, the fire alarms are extremely loud, which is a good thing. You can wake the dead with those babies. The problem is it goes off in the middle of the night and takes up to an hour to shut off. Sleep ruined! The pools are supposed to be for the residents but the general public has access to them which makes it unsafe for the actual residents. There's always horse playing going on in the pool area which will eventually result in someone getting hurt or worse. The weekend concierge lady who normally works the morning an evening shift is wonderful. She answers the phone unlike the leasing office. The evening concierge guy is really professional as well. Them two go above and beyond for the residents. So will GG actually! As I sit and write this review, I'm contemplating on giving it two stars but then I remembered that some of the exit doors are jammed and cannot open which makes that a fire hazard. A lot of things good prevented with preventative maintenance measures. At this point, just hire me because ain't no way this would go on, on my watch. Oh then there the fact that you have to walk over dog poop in the hallways, walk through clouds of weed and cigarette smoke in the halls. The building is just aesthetically pleasing. That's it! I will say that since maintenance wasn't responding to my work orders when my air went out, it took for me to go downstairs since they screen the calls, Jasmine ended up bringing a portable window unit to my apartment and the sad thing is she had to take the long way because the elevator was and is still down. I've noticed that you have to be someone that the staff knows and likes in order to get fair treatment. Do I look like her? The owners should visit the property and walk floor to floor just to see the conditions. Send a decoy in to see how professional/unprofessional the staff is. Send someone here to "lease a unit" and see what a poor experience it really is. Have someone call and see how long it takes to connect with a person. The building is a haven for potential lawsuits by residents and visitors.

    Mice again !!

That would have been fine. But what really annoyed me was the application process. The management is not familiar with more modern ways to verify employment and income (such as third party service) and insisted on unredacted pay stubs - which is much less secure. The interaction as we went back and forth was rude and reminded me of scammers trying to get one to divulge information urgently (because so many people are interested in the apartment!) at the cost of better judgement. In trying to get more information from me they cited their "policies" but being unable to articulate why their policy insists on having the information I didn't want to share (like my pre-tax deductions) This conversation was not with some mid-level employee but what seemed to be the owner. I should hope he could articulate the reasoning behind his own policy! To me, this company clearly orients themselves to customer service of property owners, not renters. Which fair enough, but it doesn't mean I have to like it. To the reader/renter: Don't let these people bully you!

Prompt responses to emails, quick answers to phone calls, transparent updates throughout the process, and even reassurances to call you back if they are tied up at the moment (and they actually call back as soon as they can!) Since my roommates and I are all out of town at the moment, and unable to tour the property in person prior to signing the lease agreement, Hanna assured me that her assistant Johnny would send me a video tour the following day. And sure enough, the next day - Johnny had a detailed video tour of the home in my inbox. Any question I had about the property, Johnny was able to answer. We so look forward to working with Hanna and her team during the duration of our lease agreement. If the last week is any indication of how our experiences will be as Rent the District tenants, I very much look forward to staying at this property. Hanna and Johnny were both very friendly, and professional. I will recommend Rent the District to any of my friends who look to rent or have property management services in DC. Thank you again!

Things that do not exist here with this group, responsiveness or urgency. As parents we should not have to be included to ensure things get done, but her father and I have on separate occasions needed to interject just to get a response and results. I've only had a positive experience with Jamal, but with his promotion we are left with a guy who sits in the corner slouched down like his mom made him come to work and new employees who don't have a clue what's happening because they are too new so we cannot really fault them. My daughter said that Lucien is good, but I don't have personal experience with them so I cannot personally validate this. What I can validate is the location is good, but take note of these reviews when you are looking. If you can repair your own appliances, then you shouldn't have a problem.

First, there is no staff, there is only a manager. This puts a strain on the manager to just answer the phone. He cannot do this job alone yet, he is asked to. The office has not remained opened for over 40 hours since I moved in. 1). There are little to no weekend open office hours (beyond October, there will be no weekend service). If you work 9-5, because on very few occasions someone is answering the phone, you will not be able to reach anyone in the office. I have sent emails, and no one responds. I have to take an extended lunch to talk to anyone in the office. 2). There is a security door that makes a loud noise whenever opened almost guaranteed to wake you up in the morning so if you are a light sleeper then you will wake up or will be disturbed when attempting to sleep. 3). A gift card was promised 30 days after move in however, after 30 days, I still do not have one. 4). The walls are so thin until you hear almost everything your neighbors do. Im certain you know where this is going. 5). There are no plugs in the kitchen so you can't plug up your blender or any other kitchen electronic device without improvising. 6). People will sleep right outside your door and the management says, they can't do anything about it. 7). There are only 3 washers and 3 dryers for the whole apartment complex. The best thing about this place is its proximity to DC. Please check out these things for yourself, because I don't know how much would have changed by the time you make your decision. Talk to the residence and talk to more than one.

I do not recommend H Street Link Apartments…read more My experience with the property management team, specifically Melissa Kopecky (Property Manager) and Ralph Obamogie (Assistant Property Manager), has been extremely disappointing. Communication has consistently felt dismissive, defensive, and unprofessional. Ralph Obamogie personally leased my unit to me and was fully aware that I had a guest staying over. Despite being told by my guest that I was not home, he continued to interact with them regarding my lease and unit matters. I found this highly inappropriate and a violation of basic tenant privacy. After raising concerns about building issues, I experienced repeated interactions that felt intimidating and retaliatory in tone. Both Melissa Kopecky and Ralph Obamogie were often rude, spoke over me during conversations, and failed to handle concerns in a respectful or solution-oriented manner. As a resident, I did not feel heard or treated professionally. The building advertises itself as smoke-free; however, residents are regularly seen smoking on balconies, and enforcement appears inconsistent. This policy was one of the reasons I chose the property, and it has not been upheld. As a pet owner, my dog was injured on the rooftop by what appeared to be a sharp object. I reported the incident immediately and provided documentation, but the matter was minimized rather than properly addressed. There was also an issue involving a missing Walmart delivery package. I have video footage showing the package being moved from the front desk area into the management office. After reporting this to Melissa Kopecky and Ralph Obamogie, I did not receive meaningful follow-up or resolution. I also escalated my concerns to upper management via email and received no response. Additionally, my in-unit washer has been malfunctioning since move-in, is connected to my closet, and has developed a foul stench. Despite multiple complaints, nothing has been done to repair it. Circuit breakers are also a concern -- running the dryer while my TV is on causes everything to shut off, which is unsafe. I have tickets and photos documenting these issues and will continue to update them as needed. On another occasion, Ralph Obamogie came to my unit accompanied by an MPDU officer who was not in uniform, did not show a badge, and did not state the purpose of their visit. I was not home at the time and only discovered this after returning. As a resident living alone, this felt intimidating and completely inappropriate. The amenities and resident events do not reflect the rental pricing. Even small hospitality details, such as lobby coffee service and removal of disposable cups early in the day, reflect a lack of resident-focused management compared to other properties. Overall, I did not feel respected, supported, or valued as a resident. I have documentation and footage supporting my concerns. Do not lease here -- lease elsewhere. Prospective renters should carefully evaluate all factors before signing a lease.

Initially, I had reservations about visiting Link Apartments due to the neighborhoods perceived rough reputation. However, after a week passed without attending my scheduled tour, I received a call from Link. Unlike other places I'd missed appointments with, they reached out to reschedule, piquing my interest. Most places will just spam you with annoying emails. Approaching the tour with an open mind, I was pleasantly surprised upon stepping into the building. Guided by Ralph, who demonstrated genuine interest in my preferences, I explored various options that not only met my criteria but also fit comfortably within my budget. Having toured nearly 20 properties across DC in the past month, Ralph stood out as the only salesperson who made a lasting impression. Throughout the tour, Ralph's attentiveness and personable demeanor made me feel valued, unlike a mere statistic. He patiently addressed all my concerns regarding the location and answered every query, ensuring I left with confidence in my decision. Despite not applying on the spot, Ralph's diligent follow-up, including a recap and a subsequent phone call, underscored his commitment to facilitating a seamless experience. From the swift application process to the effortless move-in, Ralph remained proactive in keeping me informed at every stage. Despite my initial hesitation about the neighborhood, my nearly week-long stay at Link Apartments has been devoid of any negative experiences, thanks in large part to Ralph's guidance. I wholeheartedly recommend Link Apartments, with Ralph as your go-to contact for a personalized and hassle-free experience. His exceptional service and genuine care played a large role in my decision to choose Link over other options. Don't miss the chance to work with him--he truly is a standout in the property management field. A GOAT. The building is beyond lit, and I love my unit. I also feel very safe and secure here despite my initial hesitance to apply. Don't judge the building by the neighborhood as you're only doing yourself a disservice, and missing out on a great potential next spot to call home! From application to move in the entire things has been seamless. I love it here! Ask for Ralph!

Do NOT, and I cannot stress the NOT enough, rent at Rhode Island Row. If your experience here is…read morehalf as bad as mine - then you'll still be miserable. It started with the leasing process back in spring of 2024. My fiancee and I were trying to get our paperwork in order and every time we called to ask for clarification, we got different answers about what was acceptable from different people. It took over SIX WEEKS to hear back from the assistant manager, who had been on vacation and apparently didn't leave a sticky note or any sort of instructions to the person next in charge. She said that she didn't know how the online forms worked because she "had never seen the website before" -- this will be a common theme with her as she didn't know how the payment page on the website worked either. Ten days before we were supposed to move in I got a call: the apartment that we signed for had been inspected and was - in their words - "Unlivable and uninhabitable." So instead they were going to move us to a different unit down the hall. We got a shoddy video recording of the place, and were assured that it was a nice apartment unit. What the people of RIR "forgot" to mention was that this unit is DIRECTLY UNDER THE GYM IN THE BUILDING. So now my fiancee and I get to hear people running on treadmills, dropping weights, jumping rope, punching/kicking the sparring equipment, and more - at all hours of the day. Let me clarify that we would NOT have agreed to this unit under normal circumstances, were COMPLETELY unaware that we would be under the gym, and if they had told us about it before rushing us into a new contract then we would not have signed. There are small display stands outside of each unit door that you can put decorations on, many people do. My fiancee and I put a small painting on ours, and it was ripped up and destroyed by another tenant within 48 hours. Wish that I could say whoever did it was caught, but there are no cameras in the hallways - so anything could happen out there and no one would know. The parking garage connected to the building is owned by a separate company that will charge you hundreds of dollars per month to do a shoddy job making you feel like your car is secure: we hear car alarms going off nearly every morning or night., and they don't seem to mind the homeless people just laying about the place. The CVS at the end of the block is a joke, the shelves are never more than 25% stocked, and people steal things from there constantly. This also goes for the Giant up the street - seems convenient on paper, but you'll learn how badly run that store is too. The main elevator to our building goes down seemingly every other week, and the most recent time that it did it was down for about three weeks. Communication is piss poor here. You can call the concierge desk about something and the person working there will constantly interrupt you and just try to get through the conversation as quickly as possible without a resolution. If they say they're going to follow up with something, it turns out that YOU have to be the one who follows up or you'll never hear from them again. Apparently Buzzuto hires temps for a few weeks at a time, because the faces of the desks change constantly and no one seems to know how anything works here. For example the pool closed the first weekend in September, and we were still getting emails about the pool closing "soon" mid-way through October. Your mail and packages will not be safe here. We've had multiple instances of ordering something, getting the confirmation email that the package was delivered, but no one at any of the desks have any idea where it is. One of my most recent packages was lost for over a week - and when it was found it had been shoved in the back of the mail room with our unit number crossed out and a different one scribbled on the side. There is more, but I'm at my character limit. Let me just say that the best part of RIR is how close it is to the metro station, so you can get away from here quickly. We cannot wait to move out.
