We talked to people who had used the businesses and we checked the better business bureau for complains. We chose Sun Decks because they only had one customer complaint and because they were a small local business meaning that our little project might be more important to them. They had a guy sit down with us and go over the specifications: what did we want, where did we want the stairs, color, type of wood, etc... He drew up the design and took care of getting the approval from the county and the home owners' association. Later they had some young men install the deck. Those guys worked hard all day into the evening and even on Saturday. We were very impressed with their work ethic. Now it's been about three or four years, and we've never noticed any defect or problem with that work. It's top quality work and very attractive. After seeing our deck, our next door neighbor had an exact replica installed.

However I did go with a different contractor that fit my needs. After that I received numerous calls from Charles to see if I needed any other work done. He stated that he was offering a special on leaf removal (3 visits total for $300 which included vacuuming and hauling away). He did come one afternoon around 2:30pm-ish. When he finished I stupidly paid him in full and specifically said I'm trusting your word that you'll be back for the final 2 visits. However, the following morning I looked out to find out that he'd blown my backyard leaves along my back fence line and not out at the curbside for them to be picked up (vacuum). I called to ask what the deal was as the leaves were still in the backyard. He said it had gotten too dark the day before so he'd have his guys come back for the 2nd trip on the Monday after Thanksgiving to finish it up. Well Monday came and went and not a peep out of him. I waited to see if he would get back with me to schedule a new day to come but I heard nothing. I finally texted him to ask when he was coming back to finish the job but I have heard nothing. I just want to warn anyone who is thinking of hiring him...buyer beware. I am totally disgusted at his lack of professionalism and honesty. Never again!
