We've attended 2 of the Union County Music Fests and they were great! A full day of music, fun; there were informational tables between the music & the carnival which are great for kids! Yes, there were a lot of people, but it wasn't packed. Even though we live right in Clark, we found the best way to get there was to drive to the U.C. Vo-tech in Scotch Plains and take the free shuttle bus ~ which drops you right at the entrance. The return buses came frequently ~ no problems! If you park at the site, you'll most likely have to walk quite a distance and you have to pay. I suggest you bring with you, a collapsable chair and a good size water bottle/canteen for each person in your group. Don't forget your camera! The carnival rides are very expensive ~ that's probably why it wasn't too crowded. We just watched and that was enough excitement.

Best Jerky around! Beer, Jerky, and Rock! What else do you need? A good way to end the summer and begin beer season

There were many vendors to check out and they had a nice selection of items. They also had a specific area set aside for the food vendors but there wasn't much seating. I only saw a few tables and chairs set up. As far as food they had a nice selection to choose from. I had a great empanada from Empanada Monster, some boardwalk fries, and your traditional twist soft ice cream cone. They also had the Cousins Maine Lobster Truck, and the Thai Food Addict Truck. I thought the prices were very reasonable. They were even selling cans of soda and water for $1.00 They also had a DJ to provide some entertainment and a bouncy house for the kids as well as some games to play. Very nice street fair...

We go to these events every year to see what was being exhibited. The bigger size of the fair, the better, since there would be a lot on display for the visitors to see and possibly buy. We were always fond of the fairs in Cranford and Westfield because of it's sizes, and this year, this fair is still big, thus giving me the chance to see a lot on display. This fair was located in the heart of downtown Cranford. Various food vendors were available, selling different kinds of meals and snacks, particularly fried foods. Other vendors were selling crafts that they made, like candles and tiny picnic tables which were meant to hold salt and pepper shakers. More vendors also sold classic toys and sports memorabilia. There were also different organizations and companies onsite for distribution of various services (like Vivint and FIOS). Some of the tables from those organizations had little "Wheel Of Fortune" games for the kids. I certainly remember playing those games when I was a little boy in the 90s at the fairs. Overall, I'd say all of that was interesting. If that wasn't enough, there were some classic cars on display on one little side street. There actually wasn't that much, but it was enough for me to look and enjoy what was being shown. Who doesn't like looking at old, classic cars? If I had a favorite out of what I saw, I'd say it was the Porsche. I didn't recall seeing those cars at the Garwood event a few months ago. As I walked around, I got overwhelmed by the smell of the oil that was used for the fried foods. I wasn't amused by that. That also left me wondering whether or not the oil was replaced recently prior to the actual frying procedures. The smells were obviously not too far from the booths where the actual frying was taking place. The big size of the fairs in Cranford will always make me a fan! :D

The Cranford Theater is an honorable holdout in the war against AMC nonsense, even more important because of its relative proximity to the nauseating Route 22. A ticket to The Holdovers was a reasonable $13.75, and it's delightful to see a place that avoided the pointless reserved seat bandwagon. The young guy selling tickets was quick and friendly. Fellow explorers of inner-ring suburbs should note that Cranford is closer than you might think and the theater is minutes away from the train station. (For my next coffeehouse open mic performance I plan to read the first two sentences of this review in the voice of the Paul Giamatti character from Holdovers).

In 2017, New Visions theaters took over and it seemed like it may have been a bright new chapter in the theater's history. However, in September 2019 the theater was unceremoniously shuttered and many fans of this wonderful downtown area in New Jersey were left to wonder if their beloved theater would ever play to audiences again. Fast forward to November 8, 2019 and the Cranford Theater has reopened! This time out it is owned by the folks who own the property. They did not just dust off what was there and open back up. Instead, the entire theater has undergone a renovation. New lighting, projectors, seats, carpeteting, a new concession stand and even a "mobile" box office station are all part of this treatment. The blue, gold and silver colors incorporated into the theater are intended to align with some of the colors that represent Cranford itself, making for a theater that truly wants to be part of the community. The theater is full of friendly staff and courteous, local patrons who all seem to know each other (I have watched entire rows of people chatting with each other like old friends). The new seats are very comfortable and have a nice high back. There are several screens divided in a space that once only showed one movie so this is not the place to look for an IMAX or Dolby experience. However as someone who goes to movies often I had zero problem with the screen size and sound quality. You may not want to see "Star Wars" here, but a film like "Joker" or "Last Christmas" is just fine on these screens. I am very happy Cranford Theater has made a return to the neighborhood and I have every intention of supporting it as much as I can.

I found these guys on Gig Master and really lucked out. https://www.gigmasters.com/brass-band/street-beat Jeff and the Street Beat Brass Band created the most memorable and joyous experience for our wedding party, guests, locals and tourists as they escorted us across the bridge and played for another hour at the wedding reception during cocktail hour. Jeff and his band were super-accommodating, discussing with us exactly what we wanted all within our budget. Moreover, having the Street Beat Brass Band as part of our celebration was, to us, what makes this great city of ours so unique and special--the delight on the faces of our wedding party, the NYPD, the Mr. Softee Ice Cream truck guy and all the people we encountered along the route over the bridge, in Dumbo and on the F and R train surpassed our expectations. Book these guys if you want to surprise and delight your guests at your next event and want to create a lasting impression.

I went to this show on a cold January Saturday night, the place was PACKED with ppl. I would have guess close to 500 ppl showed up. Lots of interesting looking ppl who look like professionals to ex Cons. . The show was action packed. Many wrestlers from the tri-state were active at the venue. NJ and NY wrestlers were heavily present. Several one on one matches including former WWE talent John Morrison and , a few tag team matches (Team Handicap - a one legged wrestler and a wrestler with a deformed hand beat the tag team champs, the Heavenly Bodies). They also had a 30 man Royal Rumble - each man is throw over the top rope and eliminated until one man is left ( winner get a shot at the Champ). The last match of the night was the Barbed wire match! Yep, they stripped the elastic rope for metal that pierces the skin and commands blood. Yes there were kids present during the match too. There really wasn't alot of blood, just a little across the forehead. One of the cool actions of the match was when the wrestler climbed the ladder in the ring, jumped off the top and landed out side the ring on top of his opponent who was passed out on a wooden table. The crowd exploded with cheers and the repeated chant of "Holy $hit!!... Holy $hit!!...Holy $hit!!.." Old school wrestling legends were at the event like WCW's Raven, ECW's Sabu, WWF Ricky "The Dragon" Steam boat, WWF The Rockers. Mr Subs supported the event for snacks and sandwiches. There were many souvenirs on sale in the back. From old school wrestlers, action figures, t shirts etc. For $20 tickets you can't lose. I had fun and would go again.
