Beautiful theater, excellent shows such as "Barber of Seville" and "A Little Night Music", not enough parking.

As someone who avoids large theater shows in Chicago due to feeling very anxious in tight crowds, I felt utterly at ease here. They do not allow water and will check bags (but not jacket pockets (*ahem). But otherwise the security scan was not stressful and I breezed in. The walls were decorated for the lion king which made even entering feel exciting. A long escalator leads up to another check point for tickets. The bathroom was small but when I arrived there was only one person ahead of me in line. A small concession stand sold alcohol, coffee, water, and lion king merch. I'd chosen an aisle seat on the floor in row N which was directly on the aisle to leave which made it easy to get to the bathroom at intermission. I had amazing sight lines to the stage but I suspect everyone did because the theater is stepped so well that it's easy to have full view of the entire stage. Lion king itself was breathtaking and stunningly awe-inspiring. I would definitely go back.

I've never seen anything like it. The creativity, the costumes, the music, the stagecraft ... it genuinely felt like watching art come alive. I left the theater feeling like a changed person and honestly... I'm now convinced I'll be a Broadway regular every time I visit New York. But the Minskoff Theatre deserves its own appreciation. The theater is beautifully maintained - clean, organized, and surprisingly comfortable for such a large venue. Everything felt well thought-out, from the smooth ticketing process to the easy flow of people entering and exiting. The restrooms were clean (always a good sign at a packed theater), and the seating itself was comfortable with great views of the stage. Right before the show starts there's a refreshment area. It's not an extensive menu, but you'll find the essentials - popcorn, chips, juices, and some cocktails. The nice part is you can take your drinks inside the theater with you. There was also a 15-minute intermission during The Lion King, which gave everyone a chance to stretch and grab another drink. If you're in New York and want to experience something truly special .. something that feels deeply embedded in art and culture... GO SEE a Broadway show here. The Minskoff Theatre delivers the full experience, and paired with a show like The Lion King, it's unforgettable. Highly recommend.

I saw this show many years ago, and I recently got to visit again, this time bringing my family along. I couldn't wait for my kids to see it. It was my son's first Broadway show and he was absolutely mesmerized. I made sure to get Orchestra aisle seats so we could see the animals making their way down to the stage for the Circle of Life and for other parts of the show. We were sitting right where the enormous elephant comes down and it was incredible to see. Speaking of the Circle of Life, it gets me SO emotional every time! I grew up loving The Lion King and this show just does it so much justice. The production value is to die for. The lighting, the scenery, the way they play with perspective. It's just all so amazing. And the singing? And the acting? I can just go on and on. I also love how they added "They Live in You" into this production, along with "Shadowland" and "Endless Night." It is so touching and moving. It's a great show to take your children to. I know it can be pricey, and there never really is a good deal per se, but if you are able to swing it and get tickets, you won't be sorry you did.

The Richard Rodgers Theatre sits on 226 West 46th Street (between 7th and 8th Avenues). It contains 1,319 seats and is one of The Nederlander Organization's nine Broadway theatres. It features the famous double-nested rotating stage (turntables) prominently used in the musical Hamilton to create dynamic, continuous movement and cinematic flow. This turntable at the Richard Rodgers Theatre is not a permanent part of the building's architecture, but was custom-installed into the venue specifically for the production of Hamilton for revolving sets. https://www.facebook.com/HamiltonWestEnd/videos/creating-the-room-where-it-happens/562075074810678/ It is a ornate theatre. The dome is divided into panels by lavish moldings lighted. The panels contain medallions in low relief which are very ornate and lavish. It bridges the past and present with its timeless relevance. There is no traditional stage curtain, but the show did start and end on time - on point. The theatre marquee signage prominently displays Richard Rodgers Theatre. There is one gargantuan flyer displayed against the theatre wall. The neon lighted "Hamilton" signage is displayed very prominently. The acoustic was good quality overall as the sound was balanced. Front Orchestra is raked (sloped), and Rear Orchestra rows contain stadium seating steeply. My seat was Rear Orchestra (one level above) which is surely stadium style as per Yelp reviews. From my seat, I had a full scale perspective view as I was equipped with my prescription eye glasses for distance. I always have a penchant to purchase my ticket in-person at the Box Office. The Box Office associate was very patient, and helpful. I explained that I plan to see "Hamilton" with me, myself and I (Power Of One) for one ticket. I explained that my credit card contactless credit card feature never worked and I do not use this feature, but I always have a predilection for inserting my card for usage as payment. Box Office hours: Mondays through Saturdays: 10:00am-8:00pm Sunday: 11:00am - 5:00pm (one show day) & 11:00am - 7:00pm (two show days) All bags will be inspected upon arrival which I have grown very accustomed due to a prior employer. Restrooms are located downstairs in the lower level/basement which are sufficient and relatively clean, but small for narrow in the width. There is one bathroom bouncer to monitor the queuing. There are minimal bathroom sinks. There are no restrooms on the mezzanine or balcony levels. After being settled in my seat half hour in the show, I was deeply freezing from the brutal artic cold air conditioning which I did have a sweater as defense. Snacks and alcoholic drinks are available for purchase at the concession stand. No comment as I did not purchase any. This theatre is accessible by MTA NYC Transit C and E trains to 50th Street, or A train at 42nd Street - Port Authority followed by a reasonable walk.

The women's line snaked through the theater but staff was everywhere directing people including someone literally holding an "End of the Line" sign. I'm happy places like this still exist and that live theater is still thriving. NOTES/TIPS: ** No outside food or drink allowed but they don't really check. **They have concessions. **It's right next to the Marriott Marquis, which has food and drinks on the 8th floor, plus tons of other places nearby. **Just a couple of subway stops from Penn Station. (I love that legend Andre De Shields smiled and made eye contact with me.) Yet another Shubert property, Broadhurst -- named after playwright George Broadhurst -- was built in 1917. The little I saw of the facility wasn't as impressive as other theaters. There's a steep stairway into the basement where the restrooms are. Not adequate for all the theater-goers, though I believe there's a small bathroom on the main floor for those with mobility issues. Staff distributed fans to everyone waiting to enter, which was very cool when used for applause. The "Jellicle Ball" is lively and fun, with spectacular dancing, singing, costumes and makeup. Though I had no interest in the original production of "Cats," my interest in this was piqued when featured on CBS's "Sunday Morning." BTW, if you're eligible to join TDF you might want to look into it to reap deep discounts. If you're visiting from out-of-town, Sardi's, a Broadway institution is directly across the street. Needless to say we did not make it for curtain call. However, through Telecharge, we were able to get our tickets reissued via the "no scan" policy. Thankfully on Wednesday, 6/11/25 we made it. The "parking Gods" were on our side because we lucked up on parking and had ample time to stop for a bite to eat. The Broadhurst Theatre is a Broadway theater one of many in the Theater District of Midtown Manhattan. Opened in 1917, the theater has 1,218 seats across two levels and both the facade and the auditorium interior are New York City landmarks. I have seen multiple musicals/plays at this theatre the last in Sept 2023 - The Neil Diamond Musical: A Beautiful Noise (courtesy of Yelp). View from seats (orchestra and front row balcony) was great. With the typical tight seats and minimum leg room, I always find the tight seating perplexing, yes people are generally larger in size now than in the 1800's and even early 1900's. However, at that time the arts were exclusively for the elite and wealthy. Historically speaking the women wore dresses with an abundance of layers and excess fabric. Not to mention huge petticoats under their skirts. How did they sit??? Nonetheless, I digress. Now for the show... Betty Boop is a cartoon character, whom originally appeared in the Talkartoon and Betty Boop film series, which were produced by Fleischer Studios and released by Paramount Pictures between 1930 and 1939. Betty Boop based on and inspired by a Black jazz singer named Esther Jones, also known as Baby Esther. Jones's unique "boop-oop-a-doop" style and stage presence at Harlem's Cotton Club were the primary influences for the character's signature vocalizations and overall persona. While Helen Kane, a white singer, who also claimed inspiration from Jones and even sued the studio stating that Betty Boop was modeled after her. The musical goes between the fictional cartoon world of the 1930's and present day. Addressing topics of acceptance, belief in one's self & creative abilities and love. An enjoyable show with great musical numbers that are very kid/family friendly. Just A Note: -Final performance was 7/13/2025 -"No Scan"policy - if you have tickets to a show that you miss. As long as the tickets were never scanned you can contact the box office for tickets on a future date. Provided that there are available seats.

Tastes like sour green apple. Front row was a plus because it gives insane detail. I was able to catch micro facial expressions, the costume details, and even the performers sweating. It was super immersive, and I even made eye contact with some of the cast members!! But the seat was also too low and extremely close to take in the full stage. Before the show started, people in the first two rows were already discussing that they can't see the dragon overhead, and they're right. From super up close, you miss the big picture of how the show is fully meant to look. Moments feel fragmented instead of cohesive, and you can't take in everything at once. It felt a bit more like individual moments than one big production. The stage is huge with far sides and a high upper section. So it's better experienced from a more panoramic view a little farther back. But I'm still glad I got to experience Wicked from the front row.
