This is a really beautiful place for a walk. I've only walked a couple of miles of the full route so far - it stretches from the Falkirk Wheel all the way to Edinburgh - but what I've seen is fantastic, especially on a sunny day.
Aside from walking there are canal boats tours, cycling (with a few places you can hire bikes along the way), fishing and even segway tours which start from the Falkirk Wheel but which, I suspect, don't run quite all the way to Edinburgh.
There's a lot to see along the route or nearby to it, from the Wheel to the Kelpies, the Falkirk Tunnel, the Slateford and Avon Aqueducts, and Linltihgow palace. If you're a better cyclist than me you could probably do the full route in a day but I think it would be a shame to rush it.
Personally, I think it will become one of my favourite walking places (and maybe cycling too when I get a bike) and I'll explore new parts of it whenever I can. read more
