The atmosphere is fun, the crowd energy is usually good, and it's one of my favorite spots in DC for comedy shows. Other than that, it's always a good time and I'll definitely keep coming back for more shows.

Amateur night had no cover but there is a minimum purchase of two items from either the drink or food menu. We ordered nachos and fries for the table, and the food doesn't disappoint. Highly recommend for a fun and funny night out during the middle of the week.

I recognize that the Magic Duel takes huge pride in 5 star reviews on Yelp, which I deeply respect. But I did wish that we had seen the show in a different venue. I am no stage expert, but lights and sound do matter a lot in delivery of a magic show for a skeptic like me, going because the significant other loves magic shows. With better lighting, things would have been more "magical" (thinking bottles.) I was also surprised that a bubble artist, as good as she was in her profession, was considered a magician. After some quick research, you will end up at Magic Duel in this genre, so please go to Dupont or Georgetown.

We decided to catch a show last minute and were able to get tickets! It was very crowded, and the…read moreshow started a little late, but I actually appreciated that because it gave everyone more time to get seated. I was initially worried that we wouldn't get good service since we weren't sitting at a table, but the waitstaff were incredibly organized and efficient. They clearly knew exactly what they were doing, and the service was timely and attentive, even with such a full crowd. Everyone was taken care of, and drinks were served without distracting from the show. I was really impressed with how smoothly everything ran--it made it easy to relax and enjoy the evening!

I attended the 9:30 p.m. show on August 2, 2026. Although the show was scheduled to begin at 9:30…read morep.m., guests were encouraged to arrive early because general admission seating was first come, first served. I arrived around 8:50 p.m., expecting to have plenty of time to check in and get seated. From the moment I arrived, the event was disorganized. A staff member checked me in and directed me downstairs to wait in the bar area until seating began. There were multiple groups of guests with different seating options, but there appeared to be no clear system for checking people in or seating them. The process was confusing and poorly managed. To make matters worse, one staff member became so frustrated that he began cursing at guests. Watching an employee lose his composure and direct his frustration toward customers was completely unprofessional. Guests were not allowed into the seating area until around 10:20 p.m., nearly an hour after the scheduled start time. Even then, many people were still waiting outside. It appeared the venue had oversold the event and did not have enough seating for everyone. Whether the issue was the promoter or the venue's management, the event was mishandled from the beginning. After waiting for so long with no clear communication, I decided to leave. I wasn't willing to waste any more of my evening, especially since the venue also enforced a two item minimum for food or drinks. Expecting customers to continue spending money while failing to provide a well organized event only made the experience more frustrating. I came to support a talented artist, but the venue's poor organization overshadowed the entire evening. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be returning.

I am so happy to see their show's only gotten bigger and better! Martin Amini, the host, has truly worked hard to get their show to were they are at now. They're so well known now that comedians fly in from out of state. My friends and I went to their show last night and did not stop laughing. Their head liner, James Davis AKA "hood adjacent", had us laughing so hard, the entire time that our stomachs, and cheeks were hurting by the end of the show. The comedians are great, Martin is an incredible and super funny host, and DJ Bo is like wow, just amazing! DJ Bo, who keeps the music running all night is INCREDIBLE! Every time I am there all I think is "where can I go to see this man spin beats???" You can also pay for a parking pass through their website but the lot only opens up an hour beforehand so be sure to plan your evening with that in mind. We ended up parking on the street for only $3 since we arrived early to grab dinner nearby. The entry line was super long and literally went around the block but it moved surprisingly fast. Staff was friendly and helpful at the door. The inside was dark when we arrived and it would've been nice to have some house lights so people could find their way around the venue a little easier. The AC was cranking and the temp was comfortable. Upstairs has standing room and some bleachers which provides a good view with less of a crowd. Their VIP area looks nice and I'd be interested in splurging next time for a seat and a better view. There's bars downstairs and upstairs and even some food concessions. Getting out of the venue from the balcony was a bit stressful with only one way out. It makes you imagine what would happen if you needed to get out in a rush... other than that, it's a good space.
