Rustic sour dough

This is a wonderful little bakery. They have fresh loafs of sourdough, semolina, and other breads. I also recommend their pretzels and croissants. Parking can be an issue, and usually have to use the business across the street. They give their bread away to a local shelter around lunch time so definitely want to hit them up early!

We woke up early to make sure we were there right when they opened on a Saturday at 9 am. Looks like 50 other people had the same idea with the line down the street! We were focused on getting a Bronut the only make on Saturdays! Every time we come, they sell out! It is magical! Well, we got one!!! Plus, there are many other things to try. When they brought out still warm baguette- we snatched one. Saw the sourdough, so of course we had them slice for us to enjoy for sandwiches this week. The croissants- warning- you think you just want to take a small bite - NOPE, you will eat them over the kitchen sink, and just like that, it's gone. The Pretzels are always a good treat for later. Tried them all - all amazing! I'm super happy to see all the love for this local bakery. Way too many items for two people, but I'm not mad about it. Do not miss it!!! Well worth the trip AND THE WAIT outside in 34-degree weather!!!!!

Yum - can't wait to serve this to my kids!

Passing through on our way back home and decided to take a little detour to support both my…read morecaffeine problem and a local business. Always a great idea in my book! They have a drive through, but considering that it was my first time here, I wanted to get a better idea of the options/menu, so we went in. It gives off old school diner eclectic vibes, which is cool with me. The staff was friendly and greeted us after finishing up the drink they were making. We took some time to check out the menu & landed on an iced Turtle - one of those listed under "specialty drinks," which was caramel, dark chocolate, and butter pecan. I was a little nervous when I got it because of the amount of syrup in the bottom, so I gave it a good stir. Flavor was a little strong, mostly from the dark chocolate (which I'm not the biggest dark chocolate fan to begin with), but after a good mix, all blended pretty well. I enjoyed the flavor and would certainly drink it again, but would like to try another option to explore more of the menu. Definitely worth a visit if you're passing through the area.

They also have loose leaf tea jars that you can bring up and they will make a cup of tea for you. They have pastries, hand made crafts and other small items for sale. Staff were quick and friendly. Overall it's a cute, old fashioned little place that I would totally come back to next time I'm in town.

Delicious, juicy, crispy chicken!…read more As usual, we're always ready to try anything that's fried. After reading the reviews for HenDough, we had to make our way there. This little café serves delicious chicken biscuits, sandwiches and freshly made donuts. We ordered at the counter, grabbed our buzzer and headed outside since it was a beautiful sunny day. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available. Staff was warm and friendly and served with smiles. We waited maybe 15 mins before our buzzer buzzed. First of all, 10/10 for presentation. It looks as good as it tastes. Eggs, bacon, fried chicken, and a crème brûlée-filled donut. Every bite was delicious. I loved the jalapeño honey. It was so good, it even attracted some bees..lol. We truly enjoyed our meal here from beginning to end.

I'm choosing to take that as an encouraging sign, but unfortunately, I cannot review the donuts bc at this point they only exist in my imagination. I specifically had my heart set on an apple fritter, which I was told is a Friday-only situation. I wasn't there on a Friday, so apparently my plan had multiple structural problems. Anyway, I ordered the Nashville chicken biscuit, and about five minutes later I was walking out with the heaviest "road trip snack" I've ever encountered. Let's get straight to it: that biscuit deserves a Michelin star of its own. I'm not even a biscuit guy (if that's a category of person) but one bite had me reconsidering my identity. It gave me All Day Darling and Callie's Hot Little Biscuit vibes. Beautifully baked, soft as a marshmallow, and taste just like butter. Six out of five stars... yes, I understand the math and I stand by it. The Nashville chicken on its own was good, not great, but good. Mine was a tiny bit on the dry side, with a lightly crunchy coating. The seasoning brought some heat, probably plenty for the average person, but I personally wanted it turned up another notch. On its own, the chicken was closer to a three out of five for me. But if somebody could put Poppycox's Nashville hot chicken inside their biscuit, I think we could get nations around the world to stop fighting for a minute and appreciate what humanity is capable of. Overall, an easy recommendation. The biscuit alone made the stop worthwhile. Go early if you want a shot at donuts, and if you're chasing the apple fritter like I was, plan for Friday.

We were walking around Hendersonville, and stopped in at this very nice looking bakery. (Who could…read moreresist?) We ordered 2 donuts, a chocolate glazed and a Chocolate Bavarian creme. As soon as we got outside, we opened our sack and there was a chocolate glazed doughnut, and a little ball doughnut with no chocolate on it. Nothing else. No Chocolate Bavarian cream. Not even a napkin. Thinking this was no big deal, a simple mistake that could be easily rectified, we turned around and went back inside and asked to get our order corrected. They said we didn't use the word "boston", when we placed our order and REFUSED to fix the mistake. It seems to me, a good donut salesman should have realized that I asked for a "Chocolate Bavarian Cream" donut, and that the donut she just put in the bag had NO CHOCOLATE in it, on it, or around it. After all - SHE was supposed to be the donut expert. Not me! I LOVE a good donut -- but, the chocolate glazed donut was nasty and we threw the little ball thing away, as it was NOT what we ordered, or wanted, Seriously, (not just because they did us dirty) - the chocolate glazed donut was the absolute worst I've ever tasted and they are not a friendly business.
