I ordered two cubic feet of top soil. Upon delivery, the truck leaked hydraulic oil all over my driveway and even into the soil. After several attempts for cleanup, Dave and other employees never sent anyone out to clean up the mess as promised It as been almost three weeks.....message received. I ordered a cord and a half of firewood. It was supposed to be hardwood, 16-18" long. It was delivered with over a yard of dirt mixed in with the wood, which was frozen to many pieces of wood. I had to smack almost every piece of wood to get the dirt off. It was very time-consuming to do this and stack the wood. Many of the pieces of wood were 8-10" long. When the wood was all stacked, I measured the wood and realized I was shorted 1/4 of a cord of wood. I called the company and shared my concerns about the dirt mixed in with the wood, being shorted some wood, and the size of the pieces of wood. The owner came out, measured the wood I had stacked and got a different total amount of wood than I did. He gave no apologies for the dirt that was mixed in with the wood, for the extra work I had to do to stack the wood, nor would he compensate me for being shorted on the wood I paid for. read more

Last year I purchased half a cord of firewood from Underdog. Back then I gave them a 5 star rating and a glowing review. This year however was a different story. The half a cord of firewood delivered this week was not only mostly moldy and wet - a quarter of the load was rotting bark and chunks of wood in such a state of decay it was nearly wet mulch. What I could salvage and stack was nowhere near ready to burn. I'm not talking surface moisture, I'm talking soaked through and through. The wood has a strong odor of mildew too. Judging by the mud and stones that also came with my delivery, I would guess this was scooped up from the bottom of the bin. Such fun having to bag all that crap in several large plastic waste bags to be picked up by my trash service. I called their office and voiced my concern in detail but unfortunately did not receive any satisfaction nor an apology. I've been ordering firewood for nearly 30 years from an assortment of vendors and this is probably the worst load I've ever received. It definitely was not worth $220.00! On a positive note, the driver of the dump truck who made the delivery was a very polite and cordial gentlemen. I believe he's the same man who delivered last year. Also, what wood I could salvage were of the proper length - good for chimneas and fireplaces that I have. I would only purchase from Underdog Landscape Supply again if they could provide me with assurances that something like this wouldn't happen again. read more

Pretty disappointed . Had firewood delivery last month. Good quantity, ordered 1/2 cord and probably got more than that after I stacked it tightly. Unfortunately like other people posted most of wood was unusable, at least for this season. Most of it was wet and covered in mud. The few pieces I burned smoked out our family room and smelled horrible. Lots of popping consistent w/ wet wood. Now I have a bunch of wood I probably wont be able to use. read more

Last year I ordered a half cord of wood. The wood they delivered was full of dirt and pieces of asphalt! The wood was also caked with mud likely from the flooding that occurred in Conshohocken. So I am not only burning wood but also burning mud in my fireplace! It's outrageous that they would deliver wood in such a condition. I will never use them again. read more

I just called and spoke with Dave. I explained that the wood he delivered was wet and covered in mud and now it won't burn. It just smolders and creates smoke. It's crazy that I gave Dave $200 for 1/2 a cord and he dumped about 20 pounds of mud & dirt included with the wood. I asked him for help and he shouted some ridiculous nonsense about how his wood is seasoned and some other technical wood treatment jargon. I asked him if he expects to deliver wood that burns in the fireplace. He said "yes". So I explained that we have the same expectation and that his wood is not burning. He then replied "I think you don't know what you're doing!". After awkward silence he said "have a nice day" and hung up on me. REALLY!!!?? We have ordered some cubic yards 'top soil' in this Spring 2016 from Underdog Landscape Supply company, and we found the 'top soil' was totally made by mixed of stones dusty chemicals to glue them together! When rains washed everything away left only the stones, it was not soil! It sit up on my veg's garden beds killed my tomato's and other vegetables plants, as well as I new planted bare root Roses, even newly planted grass seeds can't grow, because they couldn't breading through the heave materials... Talked to this company and got very BAD response by a man said "We have no problem of the top soil..." This company has no costumer services, nor email address for costumer able to send pictures to prove their fake produces. They got the money, costumer got the bad fortune. read more

I ordered multiple times and was very satisfied but today I ordered 2yards of top soil mixed with 2yards of compost so 4 yards total was very disappointed when it arrived #1 it didnt look like 4 yards #2 it all came in Clumps and balls and looked like they didn't even mix it properly I phoned the office and the receptionist tried to make an excuse that because we had a wet winter is the reason and when they get their soil it's already mixed and told me that she would have the owner contact me I payed 200 bucks for 4 yards and I feel cause all the clumps only received half of that and they never contacted me again will never go here again read more

Got one load of topsoil and it was fine. Needed a second one and it clearly wasn't screened, as it had golf to softball sized hard clumps in it. Took me hours to break it apart before I could use it. I called and simply asked for a discount--it seemed only fair--and was berated by the owner, who told me that all the soil was the same. I asked if he would like me to send him pictures, and he said, "no, just send me my money." Zero courtesy and customer service with this company. And product not as described 50% of the time. I called for two yards of dirt to be delivered. The driver called to tell me he could not deliver the dirt where we wanted it delivered because his truck was too big. He said he would call me back once he talked to his boss to see if they could deliver with a smaller truck. I never received a call back, was ignored when I called numerous times to check in, then when I called the company line, I was first told they would get back to me. They didn't, so I called back. A man answered and said the same thing I was told over the phone five hours previously and then hung up on me. Incredibly rude and unprofessional. I accept the fact they were having trouble but I attempted to find a solution and was met with incredibly poor customer service. I do not recommend them. read more

Underdog sold me a cord (128 cubic feet) of firewood for $280 (delivery distance: 5 miles). What I got was the following: 100 cubic feet of firewood quite a bit of which had an inch of rot on the surface, 14 cubic feet of kindling, and 9 cubic feet of debris including sawdust, painted wood chips, and rocks that I had to scoop off my driveway and into the trash with a snow shovel. I called Dave, the owner of Underdog, to explain what I had received as perhaps a careless employee was responsible. Dave told me he knew exactly what I was sent and he would stand by it. I have never submitted a bad review for anything but the low quality of wood, the debris, and smaller volume than promised at a high price was disappointing. I have since read other poor reviews of Underdog firewood so clearly I should have done my due diligence and ordered firewood from someone else. read more

i had to get 8 cubic yards of sand delivered for a project at work, and Underdog came through in a really good way. they were prompt about communication throughout the ordering and delivering - gave me a quote over the phone and then quickly faxed it over, we set up a time for delivery (they were very flexible on the times, as i ended up changing it twice to fit around all sorts of activities going on at work). they called at 9 am the day of the delivery, told me the delivery window would be between 11 and 12. they called again at 11, saying they would be there in about twenty minutes. they arrived right on time, the sand was ejected from the truck, all was well. the truck driver had to end up waiting about 15 minutes for a check to be drawn up, in that meantime he began helping us shovel the sand into wheelbarrows and move it to its final destination. not necessary, but really nice. prompt, reliable, nice folks. The topsoil they delivered was supposedly enriched with a high percentage of mushroom compost, and good for growing flowers and veggies. What I got: dense, non-aerated, nutrient poor, weak grey, topsoil full of pebbles. Despite heavy rains recently, the surface is always full of desert-like cracks. I've been gardening for years and this is the first time Ive had only about half of my seeds sprout. I suspect they can't get through surface. The woman who answers phones is friendly and efficient. She very politely listened to my complaint, but her managers have never called me back. read more

I was very excited to have a full cord of wood delivered the next day, before a snow storm. The wood I received was a nice size. Half was great half was cut extremely large. I called to have someone come back to cut it to a regular size for a home, but they refused. I then wanted to return it and he refused again. Got into a heated argument about it. I called Underdog at 8:30am on a Saturday highly motivated to get a hold of some 3/8" crushed red rock and finish off a month long yard project. The lady that answered the phone (Jo) was extremely helpful and got back to me with pricing within 10 minutes. After some consideration and a few more phone calls to make sure it was what I wanted I was ready to make an order. I really wanted the stuff delivered same day so she looked in to that and they were able to get it over to me in a little over an hour. I don't know if this can be done for other areas, but I live in Conshohocken so it was close and they were very accommodating. The guy that delivered the stuff was great too. I had a very negative experience at this place. Showed up with the wrong delivery. When called for a re-delivery, the owner was completely rude and hung up the phone complaining that this re-delivery would cost him more money. To add to his stellar performance, he directed profanity my way before hanging up a second time. One cubic yard of "screened topsoil" was ordered and delivered to my client on time. However, my many years as a landscaper tell me that this is not screened topsoil. It smells strongly of composted sewage sludge, contains wood chips and appears to contain a substantial amount of subsoil (as evidenced by the clay content). My client called them and was told that it contained mushroom compost and composted cow manure (no mention of the wood chips). Composted cow manure does not smell - this definitely does and it is not cow. Absolutely do not recommend. read more
