We come here all the time, either for happy hour, before or after the movies, or when we're heading to Hubble Bubble. There are evenings that simply become memories, and then there are evenings that become stories…read more Tonight was one of those stories. What began as a simple happy hour with friends became an unforgettable journey into the heart of the Caribbean at KATZ Restaurant in North Miami. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality was extraordinary. I had the privilege of meeting the owner, who graciously shared her vision for the restaurant's exciting future, including plans for an elegant new lounge. She personally gave me a tour of the establishment, making me feel less like a guest and more like family. Then came the food. I was introduced to the legendary Chef France, whose reputation as an executive chef to the stars is well deserved. I also had the pleasure of meeting his talented sous chef. Every dish that arrived surpassed the one before it. The evening's standout for me was the Haitian akra--crispy codfish fritters bursting with perfectly balanced Caribbean spices and flavor. Every bite was a celebration of culture and craftsmanship. A couple of glasses of Pinot Grigio paired beautifully with an endless parade of remarkable small plates, while the soft rhythms of Caribbean Afrobeat created the perfect backdrop. The music never competed for attention--it simply embraced the experience. The most remarkable part? They had no idea I was coming. There was no special preparation, no fanfare. Yet I was treated with a level of warmth, elegance, and genuine hospitality that made the evening feel truly extraordinary. KATZ Restaurant doesn't simply serve Caribbean cuisine--it transports you there. It invites you to experience the rich heritage, warmth, and soul of Hispaniola, the island shared by Haiti and the Dominican Republic, through every flavor, every conversation, and every smile. If you're looking for more than dinner--if you're looking for an experience--I wholeheartedly recommend KATZ Restaurant in North Miami. Some restaurants feed your appetite. The exceptional ones feed your soul. - Patrickism

My wife ordered a Grilled Salmon that was super pale and minimal taste. I had a milanesa with the tomato sauce and cheese. It looked super nice, the fries were good but the meat was tough and had plenty of fibers inside making it hard to chew. There were some pieces that I had to take out. I hope that this review gives you constructive insight to make your place better. They did give us a cannoli on the house to make up for the food problems which was nice. I will return in a few months to see the progress. They have been open for about 5 months only.

The vibe was very casual although many reviews say upscale. Once seated we ordered cheeseburger egg rolls ($21), brussel sprouts ($12) and happy hour honey jerk wings ($12) to go with our drinks. The best thing was the brussel sprouts. The egg rolls at that price was jarring, as they were so small. Appetizer, definable not the entrée label they were given. Also there is a service fee of 20% added to the receipt. Just an fyi. We had to ask for utensils, as out table did not have any placed. Every other table was given bottled Saratoga water, my favorite, but not us, just water from the pitcher. Our wait staff was lack luster but we also noticed we were older than most of the patrons. Not mad, just confused by so many missteps in consistency. I would definitely say this place is for those ages 21-25ish.

The restaurant is conveniently located right on the downtown strip with free street parking nearby, which is always a plus. The atmosphere was inviting from the moment we walked in. The host welcomed us and told us we could sit anywhere we liked, so we chose a quieter table away from the bar area. There is also a stage section that looked perfect for live music nights, although there was no entertainment during our visit. Overall, the ambiance was trendy, relaxed, and had a great neighborhood feel. They also appeared to have some very good happy hour specials for those who drink. Our server was very sweet and offered several recommendations. We decided to share the burrata appetizer and the skirt steak dinner. The steak arrived first and looked absolutely beautiful. The quality of the meat itself was outstanding and cooked very well. Unfortunately, there was a noticeable charred flavor from what seemed like a dirty grill, which took away from an otherwise excellent steak. It was disappointing because the quality of the meat was truly superb. The fries were also surprisingly good and almost tasted closer to sweet potato fries. At that point, we realized our burrata appetizer had been forgotten. Once we flagged down our server, she immediately corrected the mistake and brought it out quickly. Thankfully, it was absolutely delicious and ended up being one of the highlights of the meal. The fresh burrata paired perfectly with the heirloom tomatoes and tasted incredibly fresh and flavorful. Toward the end of dinner, service became difficult again. We were ready for more water, a box, and the check, but our server was nowhere to be found despite the restaurant not being particularly busy since it was still early in the evening. I eventually had to get up and ask the bartender for assistance. Overall, I really enjoyed the ambiance and appreciated the quality of the food. There were definitely some service inconsistencies, but the restaurant has a lot of potential and several dishes that stood out.
