After accidentally getting in the wrong lane to turn, I initially pulled into the Uncommon Scents parking lot to turn around, but ended up parking and going in to take a look around because, what can I say? I love to smell candles. Turns out they have a lot more than candles! From soaps to a selection of Yala brand clothing, Uncommon Scents is full of things to help me unwind after a long day. I didn't have a lot if time to look around initially, so I decided to sample oils from their bath oil bead bar and come back to try out their scent bar full of essential oils and other scents. They have a bath bomb that smells exactly like Oregon rain, so I grabbed that, too. The oil beads add the perfect amount of smell to a bath and I'll definitely be restocking them regularly! For my second trip to Uncommon Scents, I arrived with a vague recipe my mom gave me for the blend of essential oils she used to mix and spray when I was a child. One of the kind women that works there explained how the bar worked and mixed the recipe for me. It was exactly like I remembered it to smell, even though my mom had forgotten the exact measurements. I have loved Uncommon Scents for many years. Unfortunately since they moved from 5th St Market I hadn't been in for years. Let's just say that was a huge mistake. I went there for Christmas presents and I'll be making return trips. Love their selection of soaps and candles. My favorite is they carry Jane Iredale makeup and color match. Amazing selection and I love the fact I don't have to order online anymore. I also was so thrilled they still carry their Jojoba moisturizer. I used it for years. I received the best customer service. I was looking for Boma lotus earrings as a Christmas present. The wonderful lady helping me, looked through all their Boma jewelry even stuff that wasn't out. I went to Uncommon Scents with my mobility trainer, Tim McLeod, in about 2016. The moment you step in there, it's amazing! Amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing! There's a paradise full of wonderful scents. I met Eva, the woman who I think is the store owner, and she's really sweet. She showed me some of the scents, and let me tell ya, it was such an aromatic experience for me! I've been making homemade fabric softener at home since at least 2015. Some of my favorite scents are lavender, eucalyptus, orange, lemon, chamomile, peppermint, vanilla, chocolate, coffee, and even aloe vera, and ocean breeze. That would be amazing if I could make an aloe vera fabric softener. I give this company 5 stars. I sure wish I could give them 1,000,000,000,000,000 stars! read more

I absolutely adore Uncommon Scents. I've been wearing the same intoxicating scent since I was in Jr High, simply because I get complimented on it all the time- China Night. They make their own soaps, lotions and potions. If you have sensitive skin you can get unscented items, which can sometimes be hard to find. Uncommon Scents seemed like the ideal place to indulge the latest "phase" I'm currently going through, which is searching for scented soap, especially orange and lime scented, so I was eager to check them out. The casual observer (of course) would not know how hard it is to actually FIND soaps of those two particular scents. . .but I DO know. Anyway, the store definitely has a lot of soaps, fragrances, cosmetics, to see and sniff around at. Everything was pleasantly displayed and well organized. . .and the place obviously smelled nice. The business owner, Eva, was very friendly and helpful and answered questions I had, and offered me different things to get a whiff of. She has essential oils of different fragrances and can create custom fragrances too. I did finally get a bar of fantastic smelling Lime Zest and a bar of "intoxicating" Orange Cream. Eva was even kind enough to also throw in a free bar of Cucumber scented glycerin soap. What a delightful shop! Great assortment of scented lotions, soap, bath products, jewelry, hair accessories, miscellaneous decorations and a small selection of bamboo fiber clothing. Some items can be personalized with one of US signature scents. This is a great place to come and browse for yourself or shop for others. They carry a wonderful assortment of imported soaps, including my favorite French brand, Mistral. Last time I was in, I fell in love with the display of Hawaiian scented perfume oils and was tempted to buy myself one of each scent, despite the fact I was shopping for someone else. Came in here to get a bath bomb for my hotel room. Everything is nicely laid out with different scents all around you. Although be careful when smelling them. I ended up getting some bath salt powder in my eye from one of the open sockets. The lady working was super kind in helping me wash it out. She explained to me the process of uncommon scents and how you can blend your own to your liking. I wanted a bubble bath and she selected a gel that was both for a bubble bath and shower (although when I used it the bubbles didn't last long). I chose rain water, green tea and peppermint. The scents blended nicely but you have to make sure the peppermint doesn't overpower the other scents. I chose it because of the properties the essential oil has. You can read about it in a display they have by all of their scents. Definitely a nice hidden gem. The free soap was great too. My bf enjoys it a lot. read more

This place reminds me of Garden Botanika back in its '90s heyday; I have to say, I was particularly pleased w/their litany of scents that can be blended as you will; it's one of those adorably unique little places that make Eugene what it is, and it definitely put a smile on my face! This common sense Eugene gal makes Uncommon Scents a part of her everyday routine. I've purchased a little bit of everything at this lovely shop: clothing, jewelry, hair accessories, lanterns, reading glasses, shaving soap for my hirsute man, and a variety of intoxicating perfume oils, soaps and lotions. My favorite item is the Ultra Massage lotion mixed with Frankincense oil. What a heavenly delight. I'm giving all my favorite people a bottle of it for Christmas this year. The soap selection rules and I suggest you start a soap card to earn a free bar. The ladies who run this place also encourage you to bring in your clean, dry, empty bottles for refill at a discount.
