We were pretty full from our lunch, but upon arriving, our bellies were at once again ready to go! I'm more of a fruit tart type of gal, so I went for the Lemon Tart (6.8). The others had the Brownie & Passionfruit Chocolate Gateau (8.6) and the Hazelnut Millefeuille (8.6). We essentially shared our desserts, so I got to try all three! I loved the Lemon Tart, as it was neither too sweet or sour, and I love tart pastries! Although it's difficult to go wrong with a lemon tart - there definitely wasn't any added or artificial flavor that shouldn't have been there. The Hazelnut Millefeuille was also delicious, as it reminded me of a Ferrero Rocher. It was definitely richer, so it was difficult for me to have too much, but puff pastry always does it for me. The brownie cake was also really delicious, and was a good balance of all the flavors, especially with the layer of passionfruit. They do an afternoon coffee and dessert special for $9 that we should have done, but we didn't see it until after! The place actually reminded me a bit of a petit Le Bon Choix in Brisbane, but definitely with better tasting desserts and better service!

Little cake. Extraordinary flavors…read more A charming little shop located in a quiet alley of Little Collins. Upon walking in, I felt I had entered a high-end cake boutique. On display behind immaculately clean glass were dozens upon dozens of colorful and perfectly delectable French pastries. The Mister Green Tea (what a witty name for a cake) caught my eyes immediately. Absolutely enchanting with perfectly crafted raspberry jam and gold leaf on top of a faint green tea cake, it completely stole my breath away. Upon looking closer, the tiny pastries were made with black sesame sable base and green tea mousse. And as I bit into it, I found the center filled with luscious raspberry cremeux. Everything about it is a testament to perfection and deliciousness! I also got their Matcha Latte, and it was just as sensational as the rest of the desserts. That green tea was light yet rich, slightly bitter to counter the sweetness of the cakes. Beautiful in both presentation and taste! The price may be quite steep for such a small plate of dessert ($9.90) and a cup of latte ($6), but to find a rare gem like this certainly makes up for once in a lifetime experience.

If you are in Melbourne/Australia, you should definitely give Laurent a try!!…read moreThis is one of the best, and one of my favorites Bakery/Cafe I have been to. I tried their Hot Chocolate & dessert cake, called "Monte Carlo". It's a Chocolate mousse with cafe creme & chocolate biscuit covered with milk chocolate glaze. The glaze outside was shinny, smooth, and light, which is perfect for me. Texture, creamy, but not too sweet. Dessert was great, and Hot Chocolate too. Located in the city, 5 to 7 minutes away from Flinders Street railway station by train (Melbourne, Victoria). A cute, nice, fancy French bakery/cafe in the city, nothing can be better than spend a free day with your friends/love/family at Laurent. Services and staffs are great! I didn't have to wait for long, they take good order, and give you great recommendations, and ask for your opinions after. Customers will always feel welcomed, and happy when the staffs are always smiling. Overall, great place + dessert! Try it out, if you have a chance, definitely worth it. Love and miss this place.

Pleasant surprise - they serve a pretty large latte in a bowl (like those I recall from trips to Paris) rather than the thimbles served all over the city! I also tore up a delicious lemon tart. Woohoo - good times!

I've been to France on the odd occasion, and I must say that every time I was in a Parisian bakery I'd think to myself "Wow, this feels a lot like Blackburn." That's not entirely true, but Blackburn and France are joined with a wonderful bakery serving the most delicious french pastries and more. Wit both owners as pastry chefs, you wont find a better place in a good ten kilometres of here. The only problem I've had every time I go it "What to have?" which often leads to "What to have first?" Vanilla slice with delicious flaky pastry. Tarts. Meringues. Eclairs. Cheesecakes. Truffles. The list goes on. For those after a more savoury selection, there is also pasties, quiches and pies. All bits are made fresh daily on the premises, so the best time to come is mid morning for the best selection available. Come any later and you may miss out. The coffee is a wonderful strong addition to the sugary sweetness of the pastries, and all the energy will keep you going until your next meal.

Always fantastic food here…read more You wouldn't expect this sort of quality in an outer eastern suburb shop yet this shop never fails to deliver. From their assortment of Pies and Quiches to the mouth watering pastries. I always buy the Vanilla Slice and recommend it to anyone interested.
