Nice new Tex mex spot right in the middle of the Streets of Southpoint. Great outdoor seating when the weather is right. Guillermo was awesome and a credit to the franchise. They had very little for vegetarians and not sure much for vegans. That is a great opportunity for the business. Their salsa and chips are the best I've had! Some of the best tex-mex style food that I have had since living in Texas. The tableside guacamole is phenomenal and the fajitas were spectacular. The margarita selection was very impressive!! We got the chocolate piñata for desert which wasn't particularly mind-blowing from a taste standpoint, but that's not what it's supposed to be? This is the third time that I have been to this restaurant. All three times have been just Meh. It is way overpriced and as another reviewer stated, you would think the food would be extremely fresh and good. I can get better Mexican food elsewhere for about half the money. Fish tacos were spicy for my guest and we just basically had to pay the high cost to throw them away...disappointing. There was beef in my chicken enchilada and I had to stop eating after I saw that. Mediocre dinner with the family on Friday night. We made a reservation and had to wait 35 mins for a table. Hostess was unapologetic. Once seated, there was another 10min wait for the server to acknowledge us and take the drink order. Another 12 mins passed before the margaritas reached our table. While we waited for drinks, the table-side guacamole guy had to be flagged down too because he couldn't find our table (we were seated in the middle of the dining room). It improved from there somewhat, but by this point my experience was ruined. The food is nothing to write home about while their margaritas are pretty good. Although our server was trying to do a good job, this location is understaffed, which leads to (very) poor customer service. The only thing that arrived promptly was the check. We have been to UJs in Orlando several times and never had an issue with client/table service. Disappointed with management at the Southpoint location. read more

We were excited to attend the Crab Tree opening of Uncle Julio's Restaurant. Having eaten at the 5 Points restaurant, our family was introduced to this group of Mexican Restaurants in Arlington,Virginia. The new beautifully decorated restaurant in Crab Tree Mall offers food that is fresh, fresh, fresh, authentic and delicious. In house made tortillas, corn chips and salsa are great, light and zesty. The fajitas, chicken breast, hanger steak or shrimp are expertly grilled accompanied by ample servings of cooked peppers, onions, etc. All of the above is served with a dish of Guacamole, Mexican cheese, sour cream to put on your meat in a soft freshly made tortillas. Yummy! The dessert, if you still have room, is a ice cream ball rolled in coconut and pecans, covered in salted caramel. For a large family or group, treat yourself to a dark chocolate piñata filled with fresh fruit and other savory bits. If you love Mexican food, give Uncle Julio's a try, you won't be sorry! All pretty good, but Ceviche and the fish is Tilapia!!! WTF. When you advertise as a high-end restaurant and choose to serve Tilapia, that's kind of a deal changer for us. Mahi-mahi would be a good choice. The restaurant also pushes some Tequila that they most likely get a deal on. The bartenders say that their tequila is way better than Patron reposado or anejo. Nope. The table side guacamole is delicious and very well prepared. All in all, just OK. Noisy, fairly expensive ( 5 of us and some drinks/wine and dinner: $265.00.) Go for margaritas, I am a wine only customer and they have about 5 total either white or red. And they allow no corkage fee for wine brought in which is the deal breaker for us returning. Every restaurant in Raleigh allows a wine brought in and is charged a corkage fee. We had a good time, but all 5 said no need to return. read more

We were looking forward to trying out a New Mexican Restaurant and read good reports on the place. What a disappointment. First of all the place is very noisy. The waiters were attentive and responsive to our requests. The over priced drinks were nothing to write home about. The rice was not what I would call Mexican rice. The enchiladas were advertised as having onions in the cheese enchiladas but I couldn't find any. The home made guacamole was just so so. Very few vegetarian options. We were so happy to see Uncle Julio's finally make it to Raleigh, as we used to frequent them in Texas. This was our fourth visit to the Raleigh location, and it has not disappointed! As usual, the food quality is great, and you can't beat the made at the table guacamole. All the food is fresh, and the flavors are fabulous, no matter what dish we order. The only disappointment we had (well, my wife had!) was when the swirl machine was broken and she could not have her favorite drink. After 43 years living in Texas, I had taken it for granted that a hot plate of cheese enchiladas was always right around the corner. And then I moved to Raleigh. I'm not going to mince words: this is some of the best Tex-Mex I've ever had. Period. It's a bit pricey - $14 dollars for cheese enchiladas is a few dollars high, but well worth it. For $18 dollars you can get steak fajitas enchiladas (upgrade the beef ones - ask server) which are also fantastic. Atmosphere is nice, service is good. Parking can be a challenge at typically expected times. Note: you might want to consider the reviews from people that just don't understand Tex-Mex. It's rooted in traditional Mexican but is in many ways different, and of course I would say better. My wife and I have a reservation upcoming soon. Looking forward to a break from Keto. read more

The servers were pleasant but it seemed extraordinarily long to actually receive the item. I get that it was Saturday night and the place was packed, but when one makes reservations for a specific time, that's when one should be seated. The food was okay, but it's still run of the mill Mexican and there are so many authentic, cheaper options around where one doesn't have to wait an hour to be seated. Service was way above average. I was there on Sunday and I had to wait about 1 hour to get my food, the service was terrible, I asked for ceviche but later they informed me they didn't have ceviche left, so I went ahead and order the bacon wrapped camarones, as a whole plate, and a side of guacamole, when they brought the guacamole over it was all dark (see picture), and didn't have any lemon juice nor salt it was so nasty, also the plate I ordered they got it wrong so they brought another plate that I didn't asked for, it's really disappointing since I go there almost every weekend. read more

I am sad to write this review. I have lived across the street for two years, been loyal before COVID, supported them via take out through COVID, eat there 2-3 times a week and now have to write my EXTREMELY disappointing review of my experience tonight. My boyfriend and I are bar enthusiasts. We asked to sit at the bar upon entry tonight, the individual at the door looked to see if there was available seating, said that they needed to clean the area ( I respect that) and asked that we wait oustide and put us on a wait list as they do not have more than one party in the lobby. I respect all of these initiatives. Where did things go astray???.... I stood outside while I watched parties of two being seating over and over again, multiple parties in the lobby at the same time, and entire party of multiple people allowed in with no masks. We wanted the bar and hey they were cleaning our spots.... what then occurred is they had seated two walk in parties ahead of us at the bar taking our seats? What happend to this promised wait list. I went in to inquire and the individual that was working the front said no, they were getting a drink (we saw them sit down) and then said someone else sat them there? She said no one told her the seats were ready. Ummm YOU were working the door and were in supposedly in control. I have to say, they will no longer be in my rotation as a food option and the person working the door is the one that has now impacted the wait staff that we took so very good care of. I respect the individuals immensely walking into a food establishment in our current environment, I ask the same for your patrons that are coming into your restaurant. There was a long wait to get in but it was well worth it! The guacamole was delicious as well as the carne asada! The cheese enchiladas were great as well, it went nicely with the Carne asada. The staff was very attentive, several managers stopped by to make sure everything was going smoothly. we did not wait long for our waitress or food once we got in. The two male waiters were very slow & should not be waiters if they do not even have training or experience or common sense, a buss boy will do for them. He never checked up on us or gave us chip refills or drink refills unless I called him out or called the manager bc we needed to be serviced! He even Ironically had a shift change in the middle of our sitting @8:15?... which we thought.. thank god!! Maybe we can get some refills for once! But nope! The second guy was horrible. Placing 6 refills of water on the table and not picking up the empty ones, no refills on chips or water or even a simple question of "how is everything" after the food was dropped to the table. I expressed this to the girl manager on duty TWICE that they should have prepared for this party and have two waiters on this table if they know one is horrible! & she was nice and she expressed how this isn't like them.... they were NO CUSTOMERS Other then one table outside. The table next to us left before the meal even got out.. I'm assuming because they had chips and NO DRINKS & waiting long for their waiter! I've been twice and the service can be hit or miss as with my experiences the first time the server was decent on my second trip not so much. We ordered the table side guac which took so long we almost cancelled the order-maybe consider more than one guac trolley. The salsa that comes with the complimentary chips was the highlight of the meal. It has a nice smoky flavor. The drinks were tasty but there was way too much ice for the cost of the drinks. None of us were particularly blown away by our food though the presentation is nicely done and no one took a to-go box for the leftovers. The fish tacos were quite bland. This was my second visit to Uncle Julio's. I visited during lunch this time and dinner for my first visit and they were both wonderful experiences. The chips and salsa are amazing. The food and service were above my expectations. I didn't have an opportunity to sample the table side guacamole service during this visit but I did during my first visit and I highly recommend it for my future visits. Our waiter was awesome and very attentive to ensuring that we had everything needed. He even continued to serve us when the shifts changed and he was reassigned to another area.
