We've been debating on which self defense class we wanted our kids to join and we're SO glad we went with BJJ at Sektor. Our boys started in September and on their first day/trial class, the boys were really intimidated but Alba made them feel comfortable, explained everything and kept reassuring them. As soon as the boys saw other kids playing on the mat, they joined them and now, they ask to go everyday. The coaches are just amazing. You can tell they just want to teach and guide their students. Love that they try to make it fun while teaching and we can definitely see how much our boys have learned even in the past 6 months. Spencer and Andrew and all other instructors who help during the kids class are very patient and are very skilled instructors. The kids class is M-F from 330-415pm it has been growing and is also available on Saturday mornings. This Jiu Jitsu gym is very clean and has a lot of seating space for you to sit during practice. Love this place for my kids! So happy they also accept charter funds! The mixture of instruction, listening skills, and life lessons is great during my kids upbringing! He was not used to being someone in his space let alone being choked and submitted all at once. We stuck through it until he didn't want to come back and went on hiatus for 2 months. However kudos to Albert and Spencer who continued to follow up and check in on us to encourage us to come back and affirmed us that it's normal for kids to have their first experience and feeling helpless. We decided to take him back and with Spencer's coaching and help, my son learned the ropes and is now thriving. We've been coming here since August and my son just loves to train at this gym and the comradery that he has developed has been a community for him. Best move we've ever made. We have been bringing our girls here for almost a year. Albert and Spencer are not only great instructors, but they also know how to make it fun for the kids. They do a wonderful job teaching the moves in simple, smaller moves, which come together as a whole. The girls have made a lot of nice friends and are learning how to defend themselves as well.
