Each starter had their own great flavor profiles and set our palates perfectly for what was to come. Be sure to meet Will who fully understands the menu and was quite fun to banter with a bit back and forth. Abbey was wonderful! She made excellent suggestions for our mains so we went with the venison, monkfish and lamb. Each was better than the last! Venison melts in your mouth! Monkfish was grilled perfectly and the lamb was pressed and almost like a confit!! Desert was just a awesome!! Raspberry sorbet with lemon tart, chocolate mousse and caramel as well as affagato using brown butter ice creme!! The experience was outstanding and the food was incredible!! Don't forget to get one or two Old Fashioned's from Matt who had been with the restaurant for 30 years!!! Don't miss this wonderful place on a quaint little alley on the west end!!

A Hidden Gem on Ashton Lane…read more Located on the fabulous and trendy Ashton Lane, this place is anything but typical. From the moment you step in, you can tell you're in for something special. The atmosphere is gorgeous -- a bright glass ceiling, lush plants all around, and a rustic stone floor that creates the perfect mix of romantic and relaxed. It feels ideal for a date night but also welcoming for families and friends. The food here is definitely on the high-end side, and while the portions are small for the price, what you're really paying for is excellence. Every bite showcases the chefs' skill, creativity, and attention to detail. The quality and flavor are absolutely superb -- the kind of dining experience you simply won't find anywhere else. We ordered the Pigeon Breast, Bramble, Chicory, Walnut , the Tenderstem Broccoli and the Organic Arran Leaf & Herb Salad with Mustard Vinaigrette, and both dishes completely blew us away. The flavor combinations were thoughtful, unique, and perfectly balanced. This is one of those special spots worth treating yourself to at least once. Whether it's a romantic evening or a celebration with friends, it's an unforgettable dining experience on one of Glasgow's most charming lanes.

The place was empty, but we certainly don't mind having the place to ourselves so early in the evening. We got a good seat by the windows. The menu was extensive and the waiter showed us which tapas were included in the 3 for £9.50 promotion. We ordered the sangria, which was delightful, and the waiter brought some bread slices and dip. I didn't care for the dip - as one reviewer said it's vinegar-based and was too strong for my preference. Our tapas were good! We shared 3 plates and both left full. The sangrias probably helped with that full feeling! The staff was attentive and we had a wonderful evening. We'll likely go back.

It was a Sunday, the 3 for £9.50 offer was calling. I'd heard a number of mixed reviews of this…read moreplace, but decided it was worth a gamble. The decor is weird, I've no idea what Spanish style books they'd consulted, but it was nothing like anywhere I'd ever seen in Spain. There are some nice individual touches, the belts holding the cushions, the pink adobo walls, but there doesn't seem to be a cohesive theme.. When I arrived it was just a little before 7 on a sunny evening, but tellingly there was only one person in the restaurant. The staff at first seemed disinterested, but seemed to perk up after a while. After ordering a glass of the house white, which was good, I looked over the menu and saw a lot of familiar dishes. I was a little bothered by the inclusion of houmous on the menu, it's not Spanish, not Moorish, not needed. Anyway I went for 2 of my Spanish favourites, goat's cheese, aubergine fritters & rolled the dice on the third choice of pan Catalan. The cheese was served on top of caramelised onions & was garnished with (a lot of) rocket. The cheese was soft, both in texture and taste, just the way it should be, but the onions were really tangy (sauce?) & the taste was strong, especially when served with the rocket. The aubergine fritters were crunchy & a bit overcooked. They weren't served dressed with honey, instead I got a comically large pot of honey set on the table to spoon it on myself. I honestly felt a little like Winnie the Pooh & was tempted to just stick my whole hand in. The pan Catalan was really just two slices of cut french loaf with tomato paste & little garlic chunks. I'd give the experience two, two and a half stars, but I enjoyed the wine, the staff warmed up by the end and I have to give the place the benefit of the doubt / food snob bonus points. I think I'd be happy to sit in with a glass of wine or a bottle (or ten) of Cruzcampo (yaaaas!) if not go back for the food. One of the benefits of it being quiet is that you could go in for a glass of wine & a chat (or read) without it getting too loud.

Yum! Came to Europe…read moreon holiday with my family and my sister found this place and insisted we go (because we used to love the cooking show 'Two Fat Ladies' - but note that the two are not affiliated). The restaurant was small but cute and we'd made a reservation so although it was crowded, we were seated right away. We started with a tomato soup (great) and a fig tartlet with goat cheese (amazing). The three of us then shared a fish dish (can't remember what kind, but it was good), scallops (really yummy) and prawns (SO GOOD!). The seafood was really fresh and delicious (and what they are known for). We also got a good kick out of one of the appetizers, "cullen skink," because we were being immature and it sounded funny.

Two Fat Ladies provides a dining experience of excellence in every way!…read moreI've lived mere moments away from this gem for 6 months and won't take its presence for granted again! The decor is so opulent and under the sea themed- like the Little Mermaid meets The Water Babies! The service is really friendly and non-intrusive as well as being super efficient. The pre-theatre is available until 7pm- among the latest cut offs I've come across and at £15.95 for 2 courses and £17.95 for 3 it's an absolute bargain for food of this quality. While we waited for our starters we were offered (and accepted!) complimentary bread and dipping oil and vinegar, and were offered and accepted seconds! For starter I had a beautiful Camembert filo parcel with lovely salad. This was melt in the mouth tasty and a surprisingly very large portion. This restaurant is renowned for fish so I ordered that for my main course- the fish of the day was sea bream with dauphinois with potatoes and tomato salsa served with vegetables. It really was jaw-droppingly good. Everything was perfectly cooked and the quality of the ingredients made this a meal to remember. We ordered a grand sharing platter of desserts from the a la Carte menu and were delighted to tuck in to all 4 full size desserts from the menu- Nutella cheese cake, sherry trifle, sticky toffee pudding and 3 ice creams from a selection (we went with Mint choc chip, vanilla and Dime bar). All 4 in my party have big appetites and couldn't finish! The tea was served in beautiful silverware - it's worth mentioning that the cutlery and crockery throughout the meal was a joy to use. We also got a whole plate of tablet left on the table. Really generous dining with copious amounts of food in generous surroundings. Excellent value for money- I can't wait to return.
