I first noticed a taquero with a great, eye-catching set up while casually passing through a park, and the man staffing the grill kindly provided me a business card. Off top, kind and cooperative. When I needed a taquero for a party at a park, I reached out and got in touch with Melissa. She responded really quickly, and in my communications with her, she always provided quick and clear responses despite her busy schedule. She was also very transparent with us about what was and was not possible. Planning the menu and coordinating the invoice was very smooth. She even reached out to us to coordinate the color of their table clothes with our party colors (as close as possible). The day of, Un Taco Mas' crew (Hugo and Nelson) showed up early to our park site. They gave us a ring and were very cooperative in positioning the grill and serving materials with regards to the rest of tables we aimed to set up. We had great conversations with us throughout the event, and were very swift in dishing out tacos to our guests. I never saw a long line of people waiting for tacos, and people enjoyed speaking with them. I noticed guests grabbing their cards as well, given their positive experience. On the day of the party, we had an awesome crew of 2 (Andres, and I'm blanking on the other name). Our party location was a little difficult to get to because of the rules of the park we were hosting at, however the crew made it work, and were ready to serve the delicious tacos in time. We had Un Taco Mas cater for us for a private party with 30 guests this past weekend. I've experienced several different taco caterers in the past in the Bay Area, but none were as top notch as this one. From set up to quality of food to presentation, absolutely wonderful. Andreas and Johanna showed up around 2 hours before food was to go out to set up and cook the meat. Super friendly, very professional and accommodating, they handled everything seamlessly. Taco meats included carne asada, al pastor, and chicken--all fantastic. Rice, beans, salsas, grilled onions and peppers, and cilantro/onions rounded out the spread. Also highly recommend ordering an agua fresca or two, we got two, strawberry and cucumber lime and then left out an assortment of tequila and vodka for guests to add a kick if desired. Presentation is another thing that separates out Un Taco Mas from others. The food is laid out surrounded by tasteful decor -- you feel like stepping into Mexico under their purple pop-up tent. Her communication is very clear and she is very prompt. She arrived with a helper on the day of event with everything. We didn't have to worry about anything on the food front. They came with a canopy and set up the table so well! The food was served warm, meat was so delicious, well marinated. Elote was amazing as well. They also made quesadillas and they were a hit among the attendees. Once the party was over, Melissa cleared up everything as if they were never here! Everything! From being upfront with your charges to sending people too early before guests arrive (food was cold). After inquiring places for catering we decided to go with Un Taco Mas. Melissa text me the charge per 40 people but she forgot to mentioned the extra charges. When she texted invoice after sending my deposit of $300, I found out that she had taxes and gratuity included and shipping (she said that food was coming from San Jose to Pittsburg) that's how they worded it but everything was being taxed. Gratuity was being taxed, shipping was being taxed WTH! To top it off my deposit of $300 was NOT returnable. So basically I was stuck with them! I brought it to her attention and she removed some stuff and offered watermelon juice at no cost. The day of event came and her crew (2 people) came 2hours and 15 minutes early, people were supposed to come at 3. By the time people arrived food was cold and tasteless, tortillas were hard as rock Not Cool!!! I tried the tacos and had to throw them out. Food was not good at all.
