We hired El Compa Cali for our daughter's first birthday, and they were amazing! Alan, the owner, along with another team member (didn't catch his name), were so friendly, professional, and easy to work with from start to finish. The food was a huge hit with our guests, especially the quesabirrias! They were perfectly crunchy with a nice cheese pull and so much flavor. We received so many compliments on the food throughout the party. The street tacos and the agua frescas were also so good! I can't recommend El Compa Cali enough!!! Would love to hire them again for future events! Thank you Alan and team! read more

We just had our 3rd family event catered by El Compa Cali and I have a feeling it will not be our last. We had a baby shower with 85 people and everyone left full and satisfied. The quesabirrias were a hit and my personal favorite was the Cucumber Lemonade. If I could, I would order a jug just for me once a week! They are so easy to work with, quick to respond, punctual and great chefs! They literally have everything you need which takes such a stress off when planning a large event. My guests are still raving about the food and we can't wait for the next event! read more

I booked El Compa Cali for a college graduation party. They replied quickly regarding their availability for the date. Their customer service was great and price for 70 people was reasonable. I ordered beef, chicken and shrimp. Two aquas were horchata and watermelon. All the food was delicious and our guests gave wonderful compliments that the food was delicious. I will use them again for my next event. It was great working with the staff that served us. Great job! read more

By popular demand, we had El Compa Cali cater our annual company picnic in Redwood City. We've had them cater for us before, and our team enjoyed them so much that they were specifically requested again this year. The food was fresh, flavorful, and plentiful, and the service was outstanding. Davian and Angel were absolutely awesome--friendly, professional, attentive, and a pleasure to work with. They made everything easy and helped make the picnic a huge success. We received lots of positive comments from employees, and we would happily have them back again for future events! read more

Full disclosure: I didn't actually get to experience El Compa Cali's services; unfortunately the logistics of my event were not conducive to their operations. I want to, however, commend their honesty and professionalism. They easily could have accepted my booking, however they were transparent and declined, prioritizing integrity over profit. That level of candor and customer care is rare and worthy of recognition. Thank you again, Alan. I hope I will have the opportunity one day to try El Compa Cali's tacos. read more

We hired compa cali for our son's 1st birthday! We had the perfect experience. Comps cali is very good at communicating. When I sent out my request for a quote he made it very simple with a few package options. Everything is written out clearly. The food and set up for the salsa bar was beautiful. Everyone loved the food. To me, aside from the food being delicious,is that compa cali is very trustworthy. I'm sure anyone would understand how stressful it can be to make sure people you hired showed up, compa cali ALWAYS quickly replied to any message I sent. He showed up on time and was very professional at the event. He even nearly set up everything afterwards for us to take the food home. Definitely a great business with great food and people you can trust! read more

I went to a graduation party last evening and the presentation and quality of this food was top notch. The meats were very tasty and made amazing tacos. They set up a table with rice, whole beans, cilantro and onion, jalapeno, carrot, and onion mixed, and chips and salsa. They had watermelon juice and pineapple juice. Everything looked very nice and tasted good. The staff was very friendly and quick to serve. read more

10/10 recommend El Compa Cali!! I reached out literally 5 days before my twins' first birthday party, and Alan responded right away and made it happen. They showed up on time, super professional, and the setup looked amazing, but the FOOD... next level. Everyone at the party would not stop talking about how good it was. If you want your guests raving, this is your sign to book them. You will get nonstop compliments. Bonus: they packed up all the leftovers into to-go containers for us, which was such a nice touch. Huge thank you to Alan and his team, already looking forward to the next party with them! read more

We hired El Compa Cali for the Grand Opening of a new affordable housing community in San Jose. It was a complex event with many elected officials and high-level city and county partners in attendance. They were incredibly accommodating when our guest count jumped from the original estimate of 80 to 215 just days before the event--and then another 100 unexpected guests showed up! Alan handled everything like a true pro, assuring me every step of the way that his team had it under control. The food was absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and made hot on site. The setup was professional, efficient, and perfect for serving a large crowd. We received countless compliments from attendees about how great the food was. I highly recommend El Compa Cali for any event and will definitely be using them again! read more

El Compa Cali Catering absolutely delivered for my corporate event! From start to finish, the staff was incredibly courteous and professional -- they made the entire experience seamless and stress-free. You could tell they genuinely cared about making the event a success. And the food? Outstanding. The birria tacos were a total showstopper -- rich, flavorful, and gone within minutes. The shrimp tacos were equally impressive, and we loved that they also offered a vegetarian option so every guest was taken care of. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and our guests couldn't stop raving about it. We had more than a few people asking who the caterer was before the night was even over. If you're looking for a catering team that brings both amazing food and top-notch hospitality to the table, look no further than El Compa Cali. Highly recommend! read more

El Compa Cali catered a graduation party with ~70 guests and they were stellar! I set everything up with Alan via text and he was always quick to reply and thorough. Noah and Jimena were the ones that worked at the party and they were courteous and friendly. We had chicken, al pastor, and veggie tacos and the strawberry and pineapple agua frescas and everything was delicious. Multiple people commented on how good the food was. We had a healthy amount of leftovers, but also not a ridiculous amount. I would hire them without hesitation for future events and give them my highest recommendation! read more

We just used El Compa for our baby shower this past weekend and they were such a hit with everyone at the party. I have a lot of friends including myself that are very picky with Mexican food and El Compa really delivered! We had their combo package of tacos (carne asada, pastor) and quesabirria w/consumè and all the sides etc. the quesabirria was my favorite along with the carne asada tacos and I'm usually an al pastor kinda girl. My fiancé loved it just as much. They were very friendly with all our guests came and set up and cleaned up in a timely manner. A lot of my friends want to use them for future events. I 100% recommend! This is the second time we hire El Compa Cali for our company events. Alan, the owner and his team give the best customer service. The food was absolutely delicious (wish I was eating a quesibirria right now, my personal favorite). The presentation is very colorful, organized and beautifully setup. He included everything needed from the tacos, consome, rice, beans, grilled cebollitas & chiles, cilantro, onion, limes, plates, napkins, cutlery, cups, 2 aguas frescas, and salsa. Very well priced for everything he includes and the flavor in the food is the main reason we rebooked in the first place! I will absolutely be booking him again!! read more

12/10 recommend El Compa Cali! I hired their services to cater a worker's union party for 65 people last month, and everyone was raving about the food. One of the main reasons I chose to work with El Compa Cali was because of how much was included with their packages, which made it well worth the investment. I went with the largest option which included two types of taco meats, quesabirras with consume, rice, beans, salsas, two types of agua frescas, my choice of color for the tablecloths, as well as cups, plates, and cutlery. Also, they have a beautiful set up with vibrant decorations and display signs, it just took everything to the next level. I communicated with Alan, who made everything really easy and was very responsive. I had reached out to El Compa Cali very last minute for this event which was being held outdoors up Highway 35 on a very cold night, and I greatly appreciated their willingness to take on our request! They were very professional and friendly, and I really appreciated that their final invoice included gratuity so that I didn't have to think about it on the night of the event and payment was taken care of in advance. I can't say enough about the food, everything was DELICIOUS and if you can upgrade to add the quesabirras for your event, DO IT! The quesabirras were easily everyone's favorite, and I had gone with carne asada and chicken for the taco options which folks loved as well. The sides were tasty, all the fixings were fresh, and at the end of food service they packed everything up for us to keep. I really can't say enough good things about El Compa Cali, and I will definitely be hiring them again in the future! read more

Been seeing them on IG but never ordered due to schedule conflicts. I saw that they are located in South San Jose off of the 101 side which I'm rarely in but this morning I was determined to try. They are very responsive... I ordered this morning and asked for noon pickup (the time they open). I don't like to eat lunch late as I'm an early riser. Today I woke up around 5:30 to answer some work emails (I log off at 3:30 today), clean, and workout. Picked up Gavin from my parents and headed straight to here. Come on time and message them when you are parked at the visitor's spot. The gentleman wore gloves and a mask at delivery. He was also very friendly. W/ one look at each other, Gavin and I knew we couldn't wait 13 min. to get home to eat. We decided to sit on the sidewalk to devour our lunch. I'm so glad that they provided some napkins! The box was packaged neatly w/ the consume, salsa, and orange sauce yearning to be enjoyed. They offer: ramen, keto tacos, tacos w/o the cheese, party trays, and quesabirria tacos. Their special is 3 w/ a cup of consume for $12. I ordered one for me and one for Gavin. Sadly, he ate his so there were no leftovers for me to eat. Not greasy, non-gluttonous portions, and I must say that their orange sauce is killer. Delicious lunch. We finished it on the sidewalk, not a crumb leftbehind. Oh, they accept cash and Venmo. Don't forget to tip! read more

We hired El Compa Cali to set up a Taco stand at our festival wedding in Pescadero in Oct 2024. All our guests were raving about the food! The birria tacos were so good that they were gone in a snap - my groom sadly missed out on them which was a pity. Perhaps it was because I was coming from abroad, so communication with the team wasn't always as responsive as I would have liked, leading up to the big day.
