    Welcome to Ulum!

My husband and I stayed here for four nights and loved everything about this place. Yes, the tents can be far from the main building and parking lot, but you're here to do some hiking anyway! And the staff is very quick to respond with a ride in their golf carts if you ask for a lift to/from your room. The breakfast and dinner options in the restaurant were fresh and amazingly delicious... by far better than any of the restaurants we ate at in downtown Moab. The dipping pools were refreshing after our days of hiking and paddle boarding (who knew I would love the cold plunge so much!). The overall vibe here is bougie upscale resort that one normally experiences at a high-end beach resort, but instead of staring out at the ocean you find yourself staring out at Looking Glass and the expansive, untouched beauty of the red rock desert during the day, and at night admiring the blackest of black skies littered with more stars than one knew existed. The bed and linens were extremely comfy. We did not have a single bug (or animal!) in our tent during our entire stay, and I felt utterly pampered. (We stayed in tent # 27)

The location is beautiful. It's about 30 minutes outside Moab which I wasn't aware of. Also down a dirt road. The main building is lovely. Everything is nicely decorated. It was quite a hike from the parking lot to our tent. No gym unfortunately. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Beds were comfy but pillows terrible.

The horses on the property added to the whole feel of the place. The room was such a nice retreat from the Moab heat. Comfortable and exactly what you want after a day out driving and in the sun. Dinner at Ember was excellent. Great food, great drinks, and a nice atmosphere. The best touch is that they send you off with s'mores to enjoy at the end of the night -- the kind of small detail that turns a good stay into a memorable one. Beautiful property, thoughtful hospitality, and a setting that's honestly worth the trip on its own. We're already looking forward to staying again. Highly recommend.

Nothing special. Not worth the money. I won't be coming back…read more I was disappointed to learn that the two-bedroom riverside cabin I reserved was unavailable when I checked in. I appreciated the discount I was given to downgrade to a king riverside room. The gentleman that checked me in was incredibly professional, courteous and friendly; that guy deserves a raise without question. The room I was given was clean and the view was excellent. The TV worked intermittently (maintenance had to come reset the box at one point) and the quality of sound from the low-quality TV is horrible. The ceiling fan constantly squeaked and wobbled regardless of speed or direction. The control for the electric window blinds is wired wrong (the down button raises the blinds and vice versa.) The incredibly inconsistent service at the restaurant bar was excellent on Sunday evening, but very poor on Saturday evening. After being told at checkin that the pet fee would be waived for my dog, I received an updated bill hours after checkout with the pet fee reinstated; I had to call to get that reversed. In retrospect, I'm grateful for the downgraded room with the discounted rate; if I had paid the full amount for the cabin I originally reserved I would have been very unsatisfied with my stay. Given the discounted rate for the downgraded room, I consider my stay acceptable but, overall, definitely not exceptional. Compared to the Hilton Hoodoo (where I usually stay when I'm in Moab) this property isn't anywhere close to Hoodoo's level of quality, comfort, style and excellent bar/restaurant service.

When a front desk associate heard that I just had a birthday, she said that she was going to send champagne to our room. She didn't just send champagne - She sent chocolate, candles and bath salts! I was blown away by the generosity! Every employee we encountered during our stay was friendly and helpful. They assisted with things being moved and made multiple trips with a cart so that family members could transport items to and from their casita. The location here is just extraordinary. There are 360 degrees views of the mountains. Our second floor room in the Kayenta Lodge had a beautiful view. I'm guessing that all rooms have nice views! The room was large and included a separate bathtub in the bathroom. We had a balcony with chairs and a fireplace. If you are lucky enough to stay in a casita you may have your own hot tub, table/chairs and a fireplace. The atmosphere of Gateway Resort and Spa feels very New Mexico Southwest. It's peaceful and beautiful. There is minimal light pollution which means you can see the stars! There are so many things to do at this resort. There are free bikes, a pool, a spa, a restaurant (great food!), a game room and hiking trails + extras like a helicopter tour, ATV tours and horseback riding. I can't wait to go back!

First I'll start with the good: - The views are incredible and although we didn't hike too much because of the weather, the trails are plentiful. - My kids loved renting bikes around the resort which are included in the fee. -The highlight of the trip may have been the horse ranch about 15 miles away toward grand junction. The kids (8 and 6) got to learn about how to care for horses and ride a couple of ponies. - rooms are really spacious and comfortable. Having a hot tub of our own was an added bonus. -meals at Paradox Grille were huge and food above average to very good overall. - great massage at the spa. - nice gym and fitness area - friendly and helpful staff To improve: -we were here during shoulder season and about half our time the weather was nice and the other half not so nice which we expected. On the rainy day there really wasn't much to do. The movie theatre was shut down, there were no exercise classes offered at the gym, and the spa, while excellent, did not have anything that would keep the kids entertained such as mani/pedis. While I hate seeing reviews mention tvs as I believe you should get out and away from tv on vacation, when we wanted to watch a movie on the rainy day, we found the tv small and also couldn't hook up to stream Netflix or Hulu. - while as mentioned the food at paradox was above average, the menu is limited and it was the only restaurant open, so we got a little bored of the food by the last day. Overall a fun trip and time and I would return. With some tweaks to the offerings and experience this is easily a 5 star stay.

Location A+ I want to share the good first, so I will continue with that. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was quiet at night, everyone respected the quiet and guests were respectful. It was nice to have a pool (although they should really extend their hours and stay open later-8pm pool close is too early when the sun is still cooking. Now for the not so good- where to start :( The staff was never around when folks seemed to need them- I always saw people looking for someone who worked there. The women's bathroom was just unreal how gross it was. I truly think the only thing the staff did daily was empty the trash and refill toilet paper and one of the two paper towel dispensers. Never once cleaned or attempted to clean any of the three showers, sinks or toilet's. The little store they have closed nightly at 7, sometimes sooner. Which really wasn't convenient if you wanted a treat after dinner like an ice cream or adult beverage. You really have to plan ahead. We just went to town, but would have rather supported the camp ground and stayed there. Overall - this could be an AMAZING place. Just needs more staff, and a little more TLC- We would go back if we heard of improvements.

The breakfast was a hive of activity with staff that refreshed supplies as they dwindled, helped to tidy tables and made every guest feel welcome. Things to note: There is a large patio outside the breakfast area that is open to guests any time of the day. The only reason we are giving 3 stars is do to the friendly staff. Also we spent the night and morning listening to all the doors slamming shut. They need to fix this because people don't care to be quiet.

Our room was quite large w a big bed there's two night stands a desk area large tv on and dresser; another bed in an alcove is great for another person to have a bit of privacy w a night stand. The room had a microwave, fridge and coffee maker w a selections of coffee and teas. Bathroom was large and a great shower area w a nice shower head that had good hot water when needed. The amenities were awesome. The soap smelled great and had an amazing exfoliating seeds build in. The body lotion felt so luxurious on my skin. Towels and bed linens were perfect. She gave us banana bread to take and it was dense and great. We ate breakfast in the back garden which was pretty and peaceful.
