    Welcome to Ulum!

My husband and I stayed here for four nights and loved everything about this place. Yes, the tents can be far from the main building and parking lot, but you're here to do some hiking anyway! And the staff is very quick to respond with a ride in their golf carts if you ask for a lift to/from your room. The breakfast and dinner options in the restaurant were fresh and amazingly delicious... by far better than any of the restaurants we ate at in downtown Moab. The dipping pools were refreshing after our days of hiking and paddle boarding (who knew I would love the cold plunge so much!). The overall vibe here is bougie upscale resort that one normally experiences at a high-end beach resort, but instead of staring out at the ocean you find yourself staring out at Looking Glass and the expansive, untouched beauty of the red rock desert during the day, and at night admiring the blackest of black skies littered with more stars than one knew existed. The bed and linens were extremely comfy. We did not have a single bug (or animal!) in our tent during our entire stay, and I felt utterly pampered. (We stayed in tent # 27)

The location is beautiful. It's about 30 minutes outside Moab which I wasn't aware of. Also down a dirt road. The main building is lovely. Everything is nicely decorated. It was quite a hike from the parking lot to our tent. No gym unfortunately. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Beds were comfy but pillows terrible.

An absolute wonderful birthday escape! The resort itself was amazing but the best treat was the spa…read moreexperience. From the moment we walked in, we felt completely at ease. We were greeted with a warm and attentive staff, the atmosphere was serene, and the massages left us feeling totally renewed. We had a couples massage which I highly recommend. Easily the highlight of our stay.

I stayed this past weekend at the Gateway Canyons Resort and Spa for a wedding. From upon arrival,…read morethe service was exceptional. When a front desk associate heard that I just had a birthday, she said that she was going to send champagne to our room. She didn't just send champagne - She sent chocolate, candles and bath salts! I was blown away by the generosity! Every employee we encountered during our stay was friendly and helpful. They assisted with things being moved and made multiple trips with a cart so that family members could transport items to and from their casita. The location here is just extraordinary. There are 360 degrees views of the mountains. Our second floor room in the Kayenta Lodge had a beautiful view. I'm guessing that all rooms have nice views! The room was large and included a separate bathtub in the bathroom. We had a balcony with chairs and a fireplace. If you are lucky enough to stay in a casita you may have your own hot tub, table/chairs and a fireplace. The atmosphere of Gateway Resort and Spa feels very New Mexico Southwest. It's peaceful and beautiful. There is minimal light pollution which means you can see the stars! There are so many things to do at this resort. There are free bikes, a pool, a spa, a restaurant (great food!), a game room and hiking trails + extras like a helicopter tour, ATV tours and horseback riding. I can't wait to go back!

Overall good experience minus the one MAJOR thing that was out of their control. The hotel is big,…read morein newer condition than most BWs, bfast was great, location is PERFECT for Canyons, Arches, and the cute downtown. The staff was super friendly (as I've experienced with most BWs) and we felt very comfortable and safe. Didn't love the tile flooring, but figured thats due to the sandy location. I would 100% recommend staying here....however my lesson learned/PRO TIP moving forward in booking any hotel is to ask for a non connecting room and/or to not be next to anyone. We had a connecting room with a dude, let's call him "Ralph," who came in REAL hot around 1030 PM amd proceeded to spend the next hour moaning right next to our door. We didn't know if he was having sex or pooping until he began to violently throw up. We tried to drown it out with the AC, but ended up calling the front desk to switch rooms. They were so accommodating and even tried to check on Ralph (lesson learned drinking and dehydration is a real thing). Moral of this short blib- walls are thin and I am a light sleeper. The hotel handled the situation perfectly... but from now on I will be requesting to be tucked away in a solo room away from the wild ones :)

Our room was spacious with a sitting area that included a comfortable sofa, and a chair and ottoman. The staff is incredibly friendly and jumped in to assist with any needs or inquiries. The breakfast was a hive of activity with staff that refreshed supplies as they dwindled, helped to tidy tables and made every guest feel welcome. Things to note: There is a large patio outside the breakfast area that is open to guests any time of the day. This space is a great spot to eat breakfast, watch the sun come up, to check out the constant parade of 4WD vechicles that come though town, to people watch, and to socialize at the end of the day; This location is perfect for walking just about anywhere in town; Numerous restaurants were a block or two away; Free parking at the hotel was plentiful; The pool and hot tub were wonderfully relaxing and were in a private outdoor space with some tables/chairs that were either under a roof or umbrellas that provided shade; A locked bike room was available; The coin guest laundry room was very nice to have on-site; The entire hotel was very clean and well lit. Will I stay here again? Most certainly. This area has so many places to explore. I can't wait to go back, and now I know of a great place to call my home-base.
