We spent our 43rd wedding anniversary at Whispering Oaks. Normally for the last few years we've gone to a resort in Sedona AZ but moved to Moab last year. The lodge in a lot closer and as nice as any mid-priced resort we've be to. Thanks Kathy (manage) for all your assistance. read more

If I could give a 4.5 star rating I would, because this place is very good but not perfect. We stayed in the Wildflower cabin in mid-April 2019. The cabin is what we expected based on the website and reviews and was great for a couple. Though the property is a way from town and the national parks, its nice to have a quiet place to relax at the end of the day. The private hot tub with mountain views is nice, too. Downtown Moab isn't super exciting, so if you have the time I recommend staying here. While we really enjoyed our stay, it would have been nice if the cabin had more spices than salt, pepper and butter. Olive oil would have been nice, and other basic cooking spices would have been appreciated. I even emailed about spices ahead of time but they couldn't tell me what spices were provided. It also would have been nice if the caretakers would have dug out our patio and outdoor furniture as it had about 6" of snow on it when we arrived. read more

I honestly don't even know where to begin! I am beyond grateful that we found Whispering Oaks and for all of Alex's help throughout the planning process. Coordinating was much easier thanks to her quick & detailed email responses to all of my questions. We planned a destination wedding from Southern California for a group of about 65 people. We rented out the entire property and held the rehearsal dinner and wedding on site. It was an amazing day and everyone loved it. Beyond beautiful but also relaxed, lots of space but perfectly intimate. Insane views. We filled the cabins with family and friends which meant lots of people on hand to help get everything done! Everyone was very impressed with the cabins - spacious, beautifully decorated and well-maintained. Everything was more beautiful in person than in the photos. The vendors that Alex recommended were all amazing and the day came together seamlessly. They all knew the venue so they were able to get everything done independently. I would absolutely recommend this as a wedding venue or as a fantastic place to stay! read more

This is a awesome place to stay. It's a bit far off in the mountains and away the Arches park but well worth it if you are in no rush. Be sure to get there during daylight since it's real remote with no cell reception and no on staff on duty after hours, staff is available on phone text after hours and very friendly and available. read more

We found this little gem on Groupon for a great deal. We were looking for a nice place to relax and get away for the winter and Whispering Oaks was the perfect fit. We were not aware it was high up in the La Sal Mountains originally and had rented a small car. It ended up snowing and we couldn't get out but one of the property managers, Sandi, helped us out by getting us groceries and even giving us some of her own from her cabin till the roads were plowed. We've never experienced such inviting hospitality. We definitely plan on returning. Word of Advice: Get groceries before heading up to the cabin and don't try to save money by renting a cheap car, definitely get something with 4 wheel drive if you're going in the winter. The short: If you want a wedding venue in a breathtaking location that will allow you to tailor everything to your own specific needs, this is for you. The long: Sleeping Arrangement We rented out the entire ranch for four days and accommodated around 65 people. This was surprisingly cheap, and cheaper than just one night for this amount of people at another area lodge. The amount of people did mean that couples had to double up in the rooms, but as everything was so spacious no one minded. Wedding Location When you rent out the entire ranch you get unrestricted access to all of its amenities. This also means the pavilion and the various ponds. The place is huge and some guests just enjoyed walking the grounds, while others went swimming in the pond. Moreover, the place is gorgeous and nothing short of breathtaking. Our guests did nothing but rave about the beauty of the location. Wedding Facilities For your wedding you get full access to the pavilion which comes with its own PA and catering station. Both of these were in good working order and we did not have any trouble with these. There were plenty of tables and chairs at the location so we did not have to go through an outside vendor to rent these. The only thing we needed to rent was all the other basics for weddings flatware, glasses, plates, etc. For our wedding the groundskeeper, Danny, was a miracle worker who stepped in at the last minute to help us out with every odd job you can imagine. Wedding Planning Planning your wedding here is probably a bit more time intensive than at other locations because it's not a "packaged" deal. This means you'll have to find your own caterer, florist, and rental company. While this might seem a bit overwhelming, Alex was there to help us out with every step along the way and was responsive seven days a week. One of the real advantages of having your wedding at Whispering Oaks is that you'll be able to customize your wedding the way you see fit, and you're not on a restrictive timeline. We could start the wedding when we wanted, do the catering when we wanted, and party till the very early hours of the morning. The other advantage is that you don't have to buy your alcohol through a caterer. You can just buy in bulk at the liquor store and bring it up to the ranch. This saved us a lot of money. Wedding Experience Our wedding guests loved the party we threw and I think everyone had a great time. This was in no small part due to the location. People could do what they wanted when they wanted. Of course, there were hiccups in our own planning but the nice thing about this location is that this was not noticeable with the "come as you are" attitude of this place. Wedding Advice There are two things people should keep in mind when planning a wedding here: weather and driving. The ranch is on a mountain, meaning the weather can change in a heartbeat. On our wedding day we had rain, which then turned into gorgeous sunshine. We got lucky. Still, if you are planning an outside wedding here, it's good to have contingency plan. If your guests are not used to driving in mountainous regions you should warn them to go up the mountain during the daytime. It's pretty dark on the mountain at night time and hard to find. read more

This was an awesome place to stay! It's a little far out if you're planning on going into town a lot but if you're looking for quiet and privacy it's perfect. We stayed in the Sagewood cabin. It was tucked away by itself which was perfect since we had our dog with us. She could wander without us worrying about running into people. The cabin also had a hot tub. Sitting outside in the hot tub with the mountain view was the perfect way to end a long day of hiking. The bed was comfortable and the cabin was stocked with everything we needed (except a pizza cutter!). We will definitely be back!! read more

This cabin experience was amazing to say the least. The ride up was very scenic and beautiful. The cabin (Grey Dawn) was right off the main road and provided privacy in an intimate space and property. We were pleasantly surprised to see the outdoor hot tub (which we used as soon as we settled in). We were also surprised to see a black and white cat approach our front door as soon as we pulled up. Later to find out that the property has 4 cats that are used to roam the area for mice. The cat (which we named Oreo) was harmless and didn't bother us too much (I am not a cat person, but it was nice to have a guardian of the cabin). The amenities in the cabin were great, good coffee choices, hot plates, griddles. A small downside was we had to wash our dishes (who likes doing dishes?). We had stayed at another cabin in Zion where the dishes were washed for us and that was convenient. The views from the second floor bedroom were amazing, as well as the view from the hot tub. I would recommend getting everything you need (food, alcohol, etc) beforehand, because its a pretty good drive to anything close. We walked the property a bit. The "ponds" that they have were not really that impressive (we only went to two of them), but the cabana area was nice (we didn't spend too much time there), You could read a book or just hang out if you don't have much to do. Its very quiet and scenic in the area. We didn't see 1 other person from the time we checked in (just right into the open cabin with the keys inside for us) to the time we left. Everything in the cabin was clean and up to date (as much as a "cabin" can be). They had Direct TV and an electric fireplace which was nice. The bathroom toilet was a little finicky but they warn you about that in the literature. Without having seen anyone from the property or talked to anyone on the phone, I still felt that the management were so helpful and accommodating. I received multiple pieces of literature about the property, directions, etc in my email prior to our arrival, and then when we arrived there was a similar packet with much more additional information right on the table when we checked in. It really made it feel like they wanted you there and that you were truly their guests. I would highly recommend this property and would stay here again without a doubt. If you don't mind a little bit of a ride (25-30 mins) down the mountain to get to Moab, then I would recommend you stay here, definitely worth the trip. I felt like i was vacationing like a King when I was there, and the cost was very affordable (for what you are provided with). Thank you W.O.R! read more
