Do not book at The Shanty and The Shed (owner's name is Becky).
The owner - Becky, charged a $1,081 to my bank account prior to my husband and I even staying at her place. This is also a charge that she initiated when she had already been paid through VRBO.
So, I was charged TWICE and haven't even stayed there yet!!!!!!!!!!
When I contacted her and made her aware, she issued the refund, but it takes 7 - 10 business days for the refund to come back through, so, I literally am out $1,081 for 7 - 10 business days. Her only offer to reconcile the issue was to drive up and hand me cash in person to cover the charge until the refund was credited back to my bank account. I told her this would be even more of an inconvenience to my husband and I as we would then have to draw that money back out and give it back to her after we have already completed our stay with her. We live in Hillsboro, Mo, over an hour away. She offered to Venmo me money, I said no but instead, I asked for money off our stay due to the inconvenience to make things better and explained how our trip was already starting out on a bad note, Becky stated she was going to cancel our trip completely if she could find someone else to rebook for our days. This is after via text I told her I did not want to cancel the trip and rebook anywhere else. She stated that she would be canceling regardless but only if she could find someone else to rebook. If not, we will be forced to go on the trip or forced not to go on the trip, all dependent on whatever she decides and again, we are 3 days out from our trip waiting to hear if we are going or not going. We have taken time off work and now are just waiting around at her discretion whether we get to go or not go.
So basically, she wants to hold the reservation if she can't find anyone else to book on our dates but doesn't want to hold our reservation if she can find someone else to go. Meanwhile, we are sitting around waiting for her to tell us if we are going on this trip (again, 3 days away) or if we are not going. At this point, I want to cancel with a full refund and have nothing to do with this dysfunctional setup of a mess!!!
Please do not book through The Shed in Hermann, Missouri at all!!!!
I literally had to cancel my debit card and have another reissued to avoid her charging anything further on my account and we have not even stayed at this place yet!!! The owner will make unauthorized charges on your account and call it a mistake and then, when you ask for money to be refunded for the trip due to her mistake and inconvenience, she will cancel your entire trip and rebook with someone else.
Still waiting on the $1,081 mistake to be refunded!!!!!! You tell her how upset you are, and she will make things 1000% worse!!! VRBO has been contacted and I do not ever advise to stay at this woman's place after she charged my bank account an additional $1,081 on top of already being paid through VRBO.
Stay completely away from The Shed in Hermann, MO. This woman is a nightmare to deal with. I will never book with them ever again!!!! read more
