I am an experienced English Bulldog owner with nearly 20 years of continuous bulldog ownership. I purchased my female puppy from George and Kim in September of 2025, so she is now 9 months old and has been with me for approximately 7 months. I cannot say enough superlatives about the quality of this amazing dog and the phenomenal experience of dealing with Ultimate Bulldogs. They are truly one, if not THE BEST, breeders that I have dealt with in the course of nearly 50 years of dog ownership. This bulldog is absolutely incredible. She is healthy, happy, smart, active and continues to amaze me with her level of intelligence and extremely obedient behavior. She goes with me to work in an office building everyday and the amount of compliments that I receive with regards to her is off the charts. I have kept in touch with George and Kim to keep them up to speed on her growth and progress and have no reservations whatsoever in telling anyone who asks me where I got this truly stunning bulldog from. Ultimate has been the best overall experience on every single level. They truly produce some of the healthiest and most beautiful bulldogs anywhere in the USA. More importantly, they provide all the guidance, support and community that any bulldog owner could ever ask for. When you get a bulldog from Ultimate, you are not just getting an ordinary dog. You are getting an amazing and loving companion and becoming part of an extended family. I could not recommend these tremendous people with any higher confidence or even begin to say enough kind words about them. The are trustworthy, kind and friendly. I cannot wait to get a second dog from them when the time is right. FIVE STARS ALL THE WAY.

My experience with Ultimate Bulldogs has been fantastic. George and Kim were very helpful from our first initial phone call to staying in touch currently. Our bulldog, Theo, has had no health issues and is the best looking, most ideal bulldog we could imagine. He is a constant show stopper and can't walk outside without getting compliments. Nothing but great things to say about our whole experience with Ultimate Bulldogs.

If you're looking to adopt an animal, I highly recommend Heritage Humane Society. They have a good…read morewebsite to help you get started. We adopted our first dog from HHS last year and wanted to expand our family, so we adopted a second dog about two months ago. We encountered the same staff and volunteers during both visits, and they were thrilled to see our first dog when we brought her with us to find her a brother/sister. Their facility was modern and clean, and there were several play rooms and an outdoor fenced area to interact with the animals. For safety reasons, I waited outside with our first dog while my husband and staff discussed possible candidates for our family. They brought out a few dogs one at a time until we found the perfect match for us, another older female. They screen their animals and potential adopters for suitability, and their fees were moderate (we payed about $200 for our second dog). It covered their shots and spay/neuter, if applicable. We were sent home with a small bag of dog food, a goodie bag, and a volunteer-made blanket. FYI, several area vets offer a free medical check-up one week after adoption.

I came here with a close friend. We were looking to adopt a dog or a cat as we were both about to…read moremove to a new place and we wanted a companion to help with nerves of a new place and being away from family and such. We spent almost an hour looking at all the animals and asked to visit with a little kitten named hector. We gave the lady helping us all the details about our move and that there would be another cat living in the home, ect. Everything was great. We met the cat, we loved him. He was shy at first but opened up be very quickly and we had a great connection with him. We talked about it and started to fill out the adoption paperwork and then all the sudden this woman at the front desk asks who we are filling out paperwork for, I say hector and her exact words were "oh we are going to have to think about that." At first I thought she was joking around, no she was serious. She claimed that hector a 4 month old kitten had become bonded with his kennel mate and she thinks if we try to take one without the other we will have behavior problems. I asked "what behavior problems?" She claimed that the kittens had gone to a foster home after they got fixed and were separated and supposedly acted "depressed". So an animal acted depressed after a surgery in a new place? Okay? That's very normal and not an accurate representation of the animals behavior. She should know that. She then became very firm saying "I can't let them go separately." So she started out with a maybe and then changed to a definitely aka story changing aka bs. Not to mention she would not look me in the face while giving me her "reasons" as to why we couldn't adopt him. We brought up the idea of foster to adopt which allows us to see his behavior and if he is truly depressed we would not adopt him and her response to that was that we were out of the range to foster. I live in Surry by the way, a town over. Here's the thing animals being bonded is a real thing but it's more often between two animals that lived in home together for years or maybe months, not between kittens who shared a kennel. Not to mention this was a 4 month old kitten, they haven't even formed their true personality's yet. She said that they always laid on each other as a reason they were bonded but news flash animals lay on each other all the time that are not bonded, for example the 4 puppies they had were all laid on each other when we got there and one went home by itself while we were there. I have adopted 3 animals as well as worked at animal shelter and I don't claim to be an expert but I'm not a dummy either and something was clearly fishy in this situation. There's was either something about us she didn't like, she was trying to save that kitten for herself/ a friend, she has some control freak problem, or she doesn't know what she's doing. The situation was extremely upsetting, animals are very important to me and when I'm filling out paperwork I have my heart set. She tried to show my friend "other kittens" but we don't see the animals as products we see them as potential family so we were not going to just grab another one. Honestly I cried for an hour after because I was heart broken. I'm not writing this review to tell people to steer clear of this shelter, because all of the animals there still need homes and for the most part most of the other staff were very friendly and helpful. I'm writing it so that lady has some form of accountability and for our experience to just be out there. I contemplated making a review at all but reading through the other reviews and seeing a couple of similar experiences, I wanted to share.

We got our first pitty from RDR 2011 and absolutely smooth experience (from application to home inspection as well as being available for questions/guidance). Ring Dog is a local rescue group dedicated to finding homes for bully breed dogs (pit bulls, APBT,…read moreetc.). The dogs are pulled out of unsuitable homes, or from kill shelters, and put in foster homes until they are adopted by their new families. Ring Dog has stands in Carytown on the weekends, and also participates in local events from time to time. Ring Dog tests for temperament before rescuing, so you can be sure that the dogs are not people-aggressive. They also get all their dogs up to date on shots and preventative medicine, and they are all tested for heartworm and spayed/neutered as well. Plus, in many cases they'll take their dogs through Canine Good Citizen training if they are in the foster home long enough. The volunteers who run Ring Dog are all great folks, who genuinely love dogs and want to see their foster dogs adopted out to great homes. Many times when they find a good dog, they'll pay for any medical needs (parvo, mange, heartworm, even amputations) before adopting the dog out. They also keep all the medical paperwork on their dogs and give copies to the new owners, and get them microchipped in case they get lost. Ring Dog does home visits before adopting dogs out, and decides on adoptions on a case by case basis. They also have several of their volunteers who are trainers, and they will troubleshoot problems if necessary. My husband and I fostered several dogs for Ring Dog, worked the adoption stands, and eventually adopted two of our dogs from there as well, so we can vouch for what a great rescue this is. The only thing I wish they did was offer training for first-time bully breed owners- bully breeds have specific training needs and behaviors that are different from other breeds, and a training class would be really helpful, especially when adopting a young bully breed dog.

The landscaping is so nice and the private parking lot is labeled so well. They have marked spaces for volunteers and adopters, it makes you feel good to pull up and look inside. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The kennels are clean an roomy compared to other shelters I have visited. I wish the color of paint on the wall was brighter. Gray is a downer on cement walls and the walk to the kennels is gloomy. Going back soon to visit my potential buddy.

We turned to this humane society because of an ad posted on a website finder of a specific dog. The…read moredog we had adopted from them was older and we had been under the impression that he was in pristine health. (After them giving us a run down of medical history, which wasn't a lot- but them giving us verbal confirmation multiple times that he was healthy, neutered, etc. We also asked more than once to confirm so. ) We had been under the impression nothing was wrong with him. We signed the papers and brought him home. He fit in wonderfully with our family. A little over a week into owning him I took him to the vet and within few minutes of the vet doing a SIMPLE look over, (the same look over any dog is supposed to get when brought to the vet for the first time) she managed to tell me 4 things wrong that were life threatening, 6 in general. I would need to spend 6k, which was JUST the starting price in order to assist these issues. All diseases/physical disorders/potential cancerous tumors were developed well before we brought him into our home. On top of all that, because of all the issues he had, even with the surgeries he would not have a much longer life span. I ended up spending $450 to get him the shots he needed & blood work done and had various other appointments scheduled. Unfortunately, I had to bring the dog back. I completely understand that non-profit organizations, shelters, etc, do the best they can to provide for each animal in their care. Having volunteered at shelters previously and just knowing people in the industry-- within the first few days of receiving the animal they are brought to a vet to be examined. Their goal is to test for heart worms, give the rabies shot, and spay/neuter the animal. However, before ANY of these procedures are done to the animal they examine them. There is no reason that we shouldn't have been informed about these conditions. It was highly,- no. EXTREMELY unprofessional for them to adopt out a dog without telling us the truth about his condition. After grilling them, I was refunded the basic adoption fee. Though, it didn't make anything much better. Im out $500+ and my family & I grew attached to the dog. Also, the receptionist had been very standoffish to us, which from reading other reviews, isn't much of a shocker. All my family & I wanted was to give an animal their forever home and this place turns out to not be the place to go. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE! My family nor I will never be associated with them in the future. I would give them negative stars if I could.
