I just spent 1.5 hours in this store 1) looking for today's beauty steals (none of which were marked) and 2) swatching multiple different tinted moisturizers, cc creams, and tinted sunscreens trying to find one to match my skin tone. It proved to be a very difficult task. Not 1 single employee spoke to me in that 1.5 hours. Several walked by. But no one greeted me. No one asked me if I needed help. And none thanked me for coming in when I left empty handed. They did look at me. Must made no effort to speak to me or assist me in finding the right product or shade. For reference, I was there from around 4:45 to 6:15 and there were about 10 customers in the store at most, and as many employees. read more

Love all their products from makeup to hair to tanning. From high end to drugstore brands...all quality products! And great prices. My most recent visit I was looking for a concealer that would cover my face/neck tattoos because I wanted to be respectful and presentable for a funeral service. But also because I am getting them lasered off (already had 2 appts) and wanted to see how I would look again with them gone. I was so happy with the girl who assisted me. I asked her about Dermablend right away because I've heard great things about it from others and have also seen before/after photos. She helped me pick out the right Dermablend but also a reddish concealer that hides certain colors or skins tones plus a setting powder. She even applied it to my tattoos and showed me the process. I was so happy with the results and as someone who never wears concealer or foundation I did t want it to look cakey and it looked so natural. I bought all 3 items and tried it myself a few days before with funeral as well as the day of and got the same results. Can't wait to go back to but more goodies. read more

I go to this one because it's the closest to home. I love Ulta but I always have an issue at this one. I've had about $100 worth of coupons that never get accepted. when I finally asked the last two cashiers why they never accept coupons they said "I don't know they never work" and "yeah the manager says if the computer doesn't accept then just don't accept" these are coupons on the app and the ones that get sent with the catalog. as a district manager of major retailer I find this completey unacceptable. this would never fly at my organization. unfortunately looks like I will be switching to Sephora read more

I've been here a few times. Some things are a little pricey, but you can find brands that aren't in your pharmacy store. I watch the sales and and can find what I use and need at a great price. The girls that work here are very friendly and helpful when I'm unable to locate something in particular. When I was here last, I went to the register and the associate proceeded to ring me up and asked if I found everything I was looking for. I wasn't able to find one item. She told me where I could find it and held the order at the register while I went to get it. When I returned to the line, she flagged me over and finished my transaction without issue. They pad their salon services bill. It wasn't until I got home and compared my previous charge of $175 was now $230 with the same stylist. They charged me for partial vs full highlights and express vs. full roots coverage. They were not transparent about this. I said I wanted a partial highlight because I did not have time for a full highlight. She said she will only add "a few strands" which was only a few but charged me the complete price. She did the express version of root coverage but charged me for the full. When trying to express dissatisfaction with the charges, they offered me $15 on a $270 hair service/tip. Let me start by saying that I am still fuming from my experience at the Waterbury ULTA. Friday 2/18/22, was my very first time stepping foot into an ULTA Store, since the Pandemic, I have been very cautious and have not been into too many stores, so this was a adventure for me. It turned out to a very hurtful and disappointing experience. So I wanted to update my make up, lipstick, mascara, lip liners and perfume, as I was shopping for my items, my first disappointing moment was when one of the employees was walking by with another customer, neither women had the courtesy to say excuse me when walking by me in the very tight aisle. I feel as if the employee should have had more sense and courtesy than she displayed. i let that go and continued shopping for perfume. While shopping for it, I was listening to an Instagram video listing the fragrances I should try. As I was walking, I noticed the same employee standing with another employee near the perfume area with their arms crossed. Then I notice a security guard coming towards the area. So i began to feel uncomfortable, but continued looking for what I wanted. Looking around the perfume area, I saw one other black woman looking for perfume (yes, I am black). At this point I realized what what was going on, the employees at ULTA and this security guard were watching us! My stomach dropped and I was disgusted and offended, but also stunned and hurt at the same time. I just came from work, I had my work i.d still on and I just wanted some lipstick and perfume. I came into the store to spend my well earned money and I was made to feel as if I was a thief!! I was honestly about to put my basket down and walk out of this establishment, but an employee wearing a white lab coat, she may have come from the Clinique section of the store, came over and asked if she could help me find anything, which could have be sketchy as well, but this woman was kind, comforting and helpful. She asked To see the video I was listening to and mentioned that she could help me find all of the fragrances I was looking for and she did just that!!! This woman was not condescending or just standing around watching with her arms crossed watching me. So she left to go back to the Clinic section of the store, but I still wanted to compare 2 fragrances before I made up my mind. As I was walking over the test the other fragrance the security guard was in my path, I said excuse me and this rude man said absolutely nothing as he passed by. To be honest, I probably make more than him and I know for a fact I am more of a human being than he will ever be!! The woman in the white jacket was the only reason i decided to purchase my items. I have been contemplating all weekend whether I should return the products and get a refund for the 200.00 I spent in this store. As stated previously, I do not go into stores because of COVID, and I made a conscious decision to venture out, to do something nice for myself after a long work week and I was made to feel unwelcome d and like I was doing something wrong in this store. ULTA- you have to do better. I am very hurt. I rated you 1 star because of if it was not for the Clinique employee, I would rate this ULTA at a negative zero. read more

If this is the Ulta beauty right next to Dicks sporting goods on Union St. in Waterbury... Not sure if any other Ultas do this when people check out. The clerk girl asked me for my phone number and or email just to check out. I wanted a quick transaction and I just do not want to give my phone number out or get some emails I'm just going to unsubscribe to!!!! I said no the first time. She proceeded to ask me two more times in a different form. I'm good! No means no.. I came back to the location to make a return and I could not return the stuff I needed to return without giving her a phone number and email and my address and zip code. I refused. I said you can make it up if you need but I had my receipt and that's all I am willing to do since that's all I need to return something. She then asked me to give her a name. I have started to get fed up and made that up myself. The girl was condescending after I made up the name after not wanting to even give her my phone number and email.... What makes her think I'm now going to give her my name. Either Ulta needs to change their policy or the people at this location need to stop nagging and accept no and do the return/ transaction I am entitled to with the receipt and receipt only. Also wont be coming back to this location because it is disorganized and there is never anyone around to help when you need them. Honestly had a great experience here with Nicky - she cares about her customers.. I've been suffering through minimal breakouts and rosacea and she went above and beyond to sit me down and give me full cleanse to help my skin, recommend the right products I need, and even give me samples of stuff to use. She was nice enough to even tell me to come in within a week to see how my face is doing so she can see the results. Never even had this type of resourcefulness at a dermatologist .. she cares about what she does. Go in and ask for her she is great at what she does, knowledgeable and cares about the people that walk through the door. read more

This store is a really nice addition to the Waterbury plaza. With that being said, anyone who shops at Ulta religiously knows that the employees are there to answer any questions you have before buying these pricey cosmetics. There was only one employee helping customers find makeup; it is really inconvenient for the other customers who have questions. Also, their security guard was following me down every isle as if I was there to steal. I will not be back at this Ulta location, Milford Ulta definitely has better customer service and no security guards watching your every move. read more

Hairdressers are completely inexperienced here and don't listen to what people want, they instead try to experiment with what they think will look good which is all fine if they ask first but in my experience they didn't. My grandmother and I used to come here for haircuts because they were cheap and close-by but the last time I came there, the woman who cut my hair completely messed up my undercut I've has for years and cut off even more of my actual hair, and she cut it crookedly. Not only that but she cut my bangs extremely short and also crooked. I looked like coconut head after an emotional breakdown for weeks. Another thing I'm not a fan of is the fact that eyebrow waxing costs like $22, it's done pretty well but I can get the same thing done at a normal hairdresser for between $8-$12. One of my favorite stores but definitely not a great location. Makeup is rummaged through and the samples are beat up and gross looking. read more
