Carina makes me feel beautiful every time I leave her chair! She's the best there is!

The stylist who cut my hair, Rachel, was very passive aggressive and another stylist there was constantly asking her what number she was using on my hair and subsequently said "you know you don't have to do it that short if you don't want to" to her about my OWN hair. During the cut I told her I wanted my hair cut straight across. The first time, she made a strange angle. When I reminded her I wanted it straight, she gave me choppy layers that looked extremely trashy. At this point I was far too frustrated and tired of the comments from both stylists and left. I want to give them the benefit of a doubt and hope this was simply an issue of miscommunication, but this was a fairly straightforward request for my hair and should not have resulted in the style I got. P.S. I still tipped because I know many people depend on tips, but my hair is far below expectations-- especially when I asked for something as simple as a straight cut and never something like layers. read more

Wow!!!!! Incredibly rude stylist!!! Walked in to counter with 3 yr old granddaughter hoping to get her 1st hair trim. Stylist, older short hair..couldn't see her well because she never came to counter. Just shouted to us that they were closing and 2 ppl were ahead of us.. SO happy I found Cost Cutters & RACHEL in Southbury. Typically when I have gone to a franchise's in any business you get what you pay for and it clearly lacks the quality. I've gone to Cost Cutters twice now and Rachel has given trimmed my hair PERFECTLY. Exactly as I requested. Did not try to bombard me with products. Was very precise, professional & friendly. I made an appointment for a wash, cut & blow dry. I wasn't taken until 35 minutes after my appointment time. I decided against the wash because I just washed my hair and it was getting late. I had someone waiting for me. I just finished chemo and my hair is thin. She cut and dried my hair in less then 10 minutes. It was $46 + tip! Not going back! read more

I've been going to Cost Cutters for years now and the cuts are good and the prices are definitely worth the service. I switched to a high end salon and got the same if not worse cut for $35+ $ more. I'm back at cost cutters! If only there were more incentive for the employees then there would not be such an employee turnover which makes it difficult for the customer that gets comfortable with the same person that they have been seeing. Without a doubt the worst service and the absolute worst haircut I have ever received. The employee who cut my hair today was aloof and spoke as little as possible. Asked questions about what I would like done and then proceeded to cut with not as much as an acknowledgement tbat she had even heard me or cared whether it was satisfactory. I did tell her it was the absolute worst haircut I had ever had. She could care less. Do not go there if you plan on being seen in public for a week or two til your hair grows back. this salon is money hungry!! $ 160.00 turned into $220.00, i have tried for over 3 years to work with them to get a collects off my credit report. when someone stole my purse they used a check here. every year they add 20 dollars to the amount owed. they lie to the collection company and do not return my calls. goes to show that they dont care about there customers!! read more

I rarely give five stars for anything, but my experience yesterday at the Southbury Cost Cutters deserves more than five. Paula gave me a perfect haircut, suggesting some changes from my current style; I usually am not comfortable at salons at all but Paula and Wendy were great--professional but very very nice. A big difference from Torrington and a competitive salon in Watertown which are both AWFUL. Thank you, Paula--I won't be so apprehensive the next time I need some style! read more
