Came to pick-up my birthday reward. One of the samples (Rare Beauty blush) was super small and there were a lot of oils products. Wish there's more variety with the type of products for the rewards. Had to wait a bit in line but didn't wait too long. Staff was very friendly. Store was clean with nice displays and signs. Some products are displayed for customers to try out for themselves. Lots of parking spaces in the plaza shared with other businesses. read more

I'm only a random shopper and came 2 years ago bought stuff for my special occasion. Today, I came to get gift card for my daughter-in-law birthday as she always shop between Sephora and Ulta. I walked in straight to the cashier. An Hispanic lady was on the phone with customer. Ok! I'll wait! Another long hair Asian staff holding a bag and phone took a stare at me for a quick second and turned away. Another staff with glasses showed up and started with her work station at the counter, I guess. All three ladies aware that I had been standing there for at least 3 to 4 minutes and I was the only damn customer all along. I'm normally considerate and patient if the flow of ppl in line is heavy. OH..... I walked out of the store totally out of my reflex action !!!!! On my way out, couldn't help yelled out 'NOBODY SERVES' !!!!!!!!!! I then went to Alhambra Sephora and purchased my $200 gift card, not a big deal but received appropriate service. FYI: I was helped immediately I walked in the store and they had a short line customers. read more

I went in to exchange a cracked compact. While the exchange was allowed, I had to pay the difference and use my points. As a Diamond member, I expected an even exchange, especially within 30 days. I was also told I dropped it, which isn't true. I didn't have the original box, but the policy doesn't state that it's required. read more

Booked a last minute appt to get my hair flat ironed! This is totally out of my comfort zone but took a risk and booked with ANDREA! This was my first time shopping in-store at this Ulta since I recently got the rewards credit card, so I was pretty excited. I mainly came in to shop for a perfume and wanted to smell everything in person before committing. Unfortunately, the perfume section was a bit of a letdown. There was a noticeable lack of testers, and none were secured to the displays like they usually are at Sephora. Some of the few testers that were out were even empty, which was disappointing since that was the main reason for my visit. I tried to make the best of it and smelled whatever was available, including a few perfumes I hadn't originally planned on checking out. I was especially hoping to compare Prada Paradoxe and Paradoxe Intense, but couldn't due to the fact that none of the testers were available. Luckily, I did find and purchase a mini discovery set and was able to try the original and the virtual flower scent -- both were nice, but the original was definitely my favorite. I didn't get a chance to explore much of the rest of the store, and aside from being greeted, customer service was pretty minimal. That said, this isn't the end for me and Ulta. I'd be willing to give this location another shot, especially since there's so much more to browse. Hopefully next time the fragrance section is better stocked. read more

THE STORE MANAGER IS THE RUDEST PERSON IN THE WORLD. I really want to share my experience with you. I bought a Wella 30 volume developer at the Rosemead store. After I tried it, it didn't work as well. So I called the store to see if there was a way to resolve it. A lady answered the phone and told me to go to the store and return it. After I arrived, the store manager refused to return it because she said the bottle was empty. When I talked to the lady on the phone, she even said I could just return it even if it's empty. That is why I came back. But the store manager was very rude. She said there is nothing wrong with the product, and she started teaching me how to do the colors. I've been a hairstylist for more than 30 years. I have never been treated like this before. She raised her tone and spoke loudly to me. "IT'S EMPTY, YOU CAN NOT RETURN IT!!" "You should return it before using everything in the bottle." The bottle is very small, only 4oz. I've already put everything outside and could not put it back while doing hair colors for my family. That's also why I had to confirm with the lady on the phone to see if it's still returnable. And the answer was YES. Then she became super angry at me, and yelled to me "GET OUT OF MY STORE!!" 3 times. IS THIS THE RIGHT WAY TO TALK TO YOUR CUSTOMER??? Maybe because I'm Asian?? This is such a RACIST!! Sorry I don't know her name. Because she refused to give me her name. But she said she's the store manager. I hope you Ulta beauty's store manager MUST LEARN how to talk to your customers first. It was just a $5 developer, I've no idea why she was so rude to me. Is this how you treat your customers when they just want to return something? Or just because I'm Asian??? This is the worst shopping experience I've ever had in the United States of America. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE UNLESS YOU WANT TO MEET THE RUDEST PERSON. read more

The store itself has all the products you need but it's just the service that was odd. I came to claim my birthday rewards and I gave the girl my phone number and she insisted that I needed my bar code from my account, I've claimed my birthday gift with just my phone number alone plenty of times before so when she told me she needed it I was confused and pointed out that she has my name and number already. Anyways she didn't budge and said I needed it, my app was acting weird and kept crashing so I left. I went to a different ulta and the girl just took my phone number and gave me my gift. I told her about my situation from this location and she said that it must be the management making strict on them.. Anyways manager pls make note of this and make it easier to claim birthday gifts, bc my phone number should be more than enough to prove my account and birthday. read more

I come to this Ulta pretty regularly to restock all my self-care staples, and they almost always have my go-to products in stock (which I seriously appreciate). The team is consistently warm and welcoming -- I'm always greeted when I walk in, and if I'm browsing for more than a few minutes, someone checks in to see if I need help. It never feels pushy, just genuinely attentive. But I have to give a special shoutout to NANCY at the Benefit brow bar! She is amazing. Her precision, care, and overall vibe are top-tier. She really takes the time to map your brows to fit your face and create the best symmetry -- you can tell she knows exactly what she's doing. My brows have grown into a shape I absolutely love, and they still look so good between appointments. Big thank you to Nancy and the whole Ulta team for making every visit such a great experience! read more

HORRIBLE customer service and very unfriendly. After seeing other reviews, glad to know I'm not the only one. Walked in, none of the staff greeted. While browsing the store, I've crossed paths with staff AND MADE EYE CONTACT 3-4x, no one asked if I ever needed help not even a smile, literally just awkward eye contact and a vibe that I was bothering them. Never experienced this at any ulta before. You should treat all customers with kindness and professionalism- this store lacks that. While in line, a lady cut in the line and cashier saw it and allowed it. The lady blatantly cut the line because she stood directly behind the customer checking out not where the line was formed. Checkout was also horrible. Horrible customer service. If you hate your job so much why are you there. Shame on you and shame on the managers for not fixing their customer service. read more

Galileya was extremely rude to my cousin. She rushed her to pay, claiming the system was about to shut down. My cousin hurried and bought the items she already had in her hands because she didn't want the register to close on her. But right after, Galileya started helping the next customer and the register clearly never shut down. My cousin then said she thought the system was going to shut down, but instead of explaining, Galileya kept telling her she had to leave over and over, like she had done something wrong, almost like she was being treated like a criminal. Another employee commented that there was no corporate number. When my cousin asked for it, Galileya told her to look it up online. When my cousin asked for her name, she simply tapped on her name tag. There was no budget or spending limit issue,my cousin wasn't stealing, she was paying for her items. The way she was rushed and repeatedly told to leave was unnecessary and extremely unprofessional. Where is that same energy when people actually run into stores and steal? read more

Extremely Disappointed with Customer Service - Thank You to the Manager I had a very disappointing experience today at the Ulta Rosemead location. Olivia, the lead cashier, was extremely rude while handling my transaction. When I mentioned I had a reward on my app, she immediately cut me off and said, "If I can't see the reward, I'm not going to give you anything," in a very dismissive and loud tone in front of other customers. She didn't even let me explain or try to help. It was embarrassing and unprofessional. I ended up having to call for a manager, and thankfully, Stephanie came to help. She handled the situation professionally, was respectful, and actually took the time to check my app--she found the coupon right away with no issue. Thank you so much to Stephanie for doing her job right and treating me with respect. Olivia does not have the attitude or skills to be a lead cashier. Based on how she treated me, she should not be in a leadership role dealing with customers. I hope Ulta takes this seriously and addresses the issue. read more

Really disappointed with my experience at Ulta Beauty. The employees were rude and gave off such unwelcoming energy the entire time I was there. Just because someone walks in dressed a certain way with a bare face no makeup doesn't mean they should be treated any differently. They kept coming towards my husband and i laughing historically loud and so unprofessional. As someone who actually knows how to do makeup, I couldn't help but notice the mean girl vibes , it felt more judgmental than helpful. Customer service should be about making everyone feel comfortable and confident, not the opposite. Definitely not the experience I expected. If i can give zero stars i definitely can . read more

I've been to this Ulta a few times and I try not to go to this store if there's not another one closer or if I'm in the area. This plaza is usually very busy and parking is hard to find sometimes. Came her to pick-up something for the holidays and the parking situation was terrible. Upon going inside, it was just the same. There are crowds of people and the lines are pretty long. Also, sometimes you can't find certain items because they do not restock so you have to find someone who works their to help you. Tracking down someone to help you is a pain. They blend in with customers so well sometimes that you don't know even know who is who. Other times they are helping someone else so you just have to wait your turn. Overall, they really to restock their products better and keep it more tidy. Various items are misplaced and some things become harder to find. The only good thing is the cashier staff, they are usually nice and friendly. read more

Emely cut my hair for the second time. She remembered I need to thin out my dense hair and did a decent job, I think. She cut my hair dry, which is fine. I've had good results with that. That didn't bother me. When she washed my hair from my haircut, albeit I did not opt for a signature cut this time, her version of warm water was room temp which made a cold rinse cold. My hair cuticles definitely closed up then. That's a difference of opinion and lack of discussion on temp. It's not the worst. We're back in the chair. She puts some product in and we're done. I asked about drying my hair to which she said I declined a blowout. That's true. I still have a freshly wet, barely towel-dried head. Apparently, that's how it is now. I mentioned it at the cashiers where they were going to check or talk to Emely. Why? I'm so over it. Why is it ever acceptable to let a client leave with a wet head? Not to mention, we're currently in winter on a rainy day. Even on a hot day, why should I client be done with a freshly washed head of hair? How do I know what my hair looks like if it was never dry to check? By the way, I still have stray cut hairs popping up. This is beyond disappointing. I'm sitting in my car polluting the planet with my heater on high to get my hair less wet. It's that or buy a towel at the nearby Target. A courtesy hair dry apparently is no longer a courtesy. Plus, I'm fairly certain my beauty service should count for points. Nope, the cashier didn't ask even after I mentioned it. read more

My family and I went in for a hair appointment for my god daughter so I waited on a chair by the hair stations didn't approach anything I needed to buy or for my interest solely to prevent even a possibility of an idea of stealing like we even asked to check in my bag they said no and still and was followed obviously enough to where two store employees followed my party and I from the rear store to front and moving and stopping when we did. What made me angry was they stopped when someone in my party was looking at a product she was deciding on and proceeded to comment on the empty display cardboard box when I turned their way. I proceed to let my party know it's making me uncomfortable and share why and went to the vehicle. After I left the team members still proceeded to follow my party while they were shopping. If you are hesitant on your receiving payment for any appointment have them pay in the back Jesus. There's no way you would enjoy that experience if it happened you you and your family. We went through every step to prevent this and still this store managed to make this trip the worst experience yet. You should be proud girls worst experience to date! Not sure if it was a racial thing or judging thing but please better the staff training on store prevention or just get security or check bags in. Like that was so not demure of you girls. read more

Came here to have my hair bleached and toned received no tone. Offered me a free coloring service with my booking which I was charged for. Requested purple and ended up with blue. It took my stylist almost 8 hours to complete the service after I had to wait for an additional hour because the original stylist didn't want to follow through with the appointment. It felt like no one wanted to perform a hair coloring service and spend the discussed time on my hair. I received a full refund but please save yourself the headache and find yourself an actual qualified stylist who will do you right. I had a wedding to attend and wanted to get my hair and makeup done. Hoping that Ulta would be my one stop shop since I don't have to go to multiple places. I'll just stick to shopping at Ulta and avoid the salon. Got my makeup done and thought it looked good at first but the make was heavily applied and foundation felt caked on. There was a heat wave so my make up was literally coming off my nose and upper lip area. I literally had to go to an another Ulta near the wedding venue to buy a powder foundation to try to cover it up again. My curls became waves and eventually strands became straight throughout the night. My foundation oxidize and was not a match to my skin and was too warm. Normally I get my makeup done at Sephora with my free rouge makeover but since we no longer have that perk I thought I'd give Ulta a try so I can get toward platinum but not too happy with the results.. read more

I went to Alexandra for an all over color and she did great so I went back to her wanting a balayage-esc color and she completely fucked my hair up AND let me leave the salon knowing it was nothing like the picture. I was so confused why it looked so orange and messaged her and she said I basically had the color I wanted when I went in--then why would you even bleach it?? I had also told her my head was getting hot when she put the foils on it comes down to that she let me over process wayyyy too long and just didn't know what she was doing. Everytime I shower my hair basically shrinks and gets so matted and it takes forever to brush out. I've cried so much with the state my hair is in now. It use to be so healthy and soft. It just broke my self esteem and has damaged my hair. Letting her touch my hair has been the biggest regret. I've colored my hair 3 times since then and my hair still looks horrible. I've put so many masks to help it not shrink the second water touches it and nothing is working. If I knew her license number and how to report her license to the cosmetology board I would because all the other salon people I have gone to have said she did a horrible job. I've spent so much money just trying to fix what she did. If you value your hair and confidence don't sit in her chair or let her touch your hair. The picture with my glasses is what it looks like to date, 2 months later after it being so damaged that other color just can't stick to it. read more

Came in tonight to get foundation and concealer and each employee I asked for help (it was 4 in total... I needed a lot of help) was so kind. Usually if/when I get approached by employees asking me for help I feel like they're doing it because they have to and feel bad asking. At this location tonight, every employee seemed like they genuinely wanted to go above and beyond to help. This was probably the best customer experience I've ever gotten at a retail store! I do want to say that this store does need to restock. Sad to take down a star considering the customer service but every single concealer that I was looking for was sold out in colors that would have worked for me so I ended up just buying the same concealer I already have and don't completely love since it was the only one in stock. read more
