I used to work at a salon in the Chicago suburbs for 5 years, so I knew what to look for. I was also very lucky that my recent colorist gave me my formula (not many will). I found Bellissimo online and read the reviews. I ended up booking with Nancy. I can't tell you how nervous I was going to someone new, but I am so happy I am with my results. I'll be up front and tell you I don't visit the salon often at all. My last color was over a year ago and my last cut 6 months ago. That being said, I've always really loved my hair. I've always been a long layered and blonde highlights twice a year girl. I was really in need of a hair cut and finally got bold enough to go a different color. I loved my last cut I received from Mayra. It was a long layered cut that she did beautifully. This time I also needed the layers cut again and wanted to go with a dark brown with red/auburn hombre. This was my first time getting colored here and was pleasantly surprised to notice they had a color bar. There were soo many color tubes there is no way I could even guess how many. Mayra was professional, and devoted to my color. I could also tell her experience by the time it took her to foil my hair. She was quick but precise. She was also handled all paying customer's herself and answered all her own calls. She didn't rely on her staff to do it for her. Once the color was done, it was on to the cut and blow. She took her time cutting, made sure it was even when she was done, and blew it dry. Job well done. I have long hair and knew the price going in. It is worth every penny paid. I don't feel like "Oh my God what did I do to my hair" or "What was I thinking?" REVIEW OF PEDICURE I…read morenoticed that this place seems to be a Jack of all trades and does everything ranging from hair to pedicures. This means all the differing reviews could be for a range of things. In terms of their pedicures, I probably wouldn't go back, but I wouldn't tell people not to go here either. CONS: 1. The nail tech didn't seem to know what she was doing. I went with a Deluxe Herbal Spa Pedicure, just because I went with the most expensive thing on the menu at $45. I was hoping this would mean it was the best and it is not very often I have time away from my baby so I wanted to make it count. I'm not sure if this was new, but they seemed confused. A woman, who I'm guessing is the owner, came over to help out. When I went back to read what was supposed to be part of the pedicure I realized I never got my feet filed with a special tool, the second wrap or hot towels, or what is billed as "an amazing manipulation of the lower legs and feet." The buffing felt pretty much the same as a normal pedicure so I wish I went with the Deluxe Callus Pedicure Treatment, because that was the part I was really looking forward to. 2. I had to ask them for something to drink. The woman I think is the owner came over later and that's when she asked the other woman if she wanted something to drink, but I already had water at that time. 3. At the end, they didn't tell me they had a heat lamp where I could dry my toes more. My nail polish rubbed off on my sandals, once when I left right away and once when they fixed it and I sat with my feet under the lamp for 8 minutes. I'm not going to hold this part against them since I didn't have the correct shoes for a pedicure. I was here on vacation and decided last minute to do this. However, this isn't the type of place that seems to let people sit afterwards and let their nails dry. It's more of a done and go atmosphere. I ended up just having all the polish removed so I didn't have to deal with the hassle. 4. It said when booking that the pedicure would take an hour. Mine took fifty minutes even taking into account I spent time deciding on nail polish, because they originally gave me the choices that are only for gel. Their classic pedicure is 45 min which is why in this case ten minutes short actually felt like it meant something. PROS: Since I just wrote about my nail polish fiasco, I do want to point out that they have disposable sandals for you if you aren't wearing the right type of shoes. I just knew I had a long walk ahead of me from the parking lot to my hotel room so I decided it wasn't worth the hassle. Their cheapest pedicure price is $15 and their basic pedicure is $30. I almost feel like other than the scrub and lotion with oils I got the normal pedicure, so if you go for that one, I don't think it would be bad. That's a pretty good price. They take cleanliness seriously. My tech was wearing gloves, put a plastic wrap in the foot tub, and wore a mask when she started coughing a lot. I know my CONs are way more than the PROs, but I think this is a good everyday nail place if you're looking for something cheap and fast. I would come here for the $15, but I don't think this is a luxury place so I wouldn't spend more than $30.
