I LOVE THE ROUGE SALON & GALLERY! I recently moved to…read moreKingsport and was looking for a new hairdresser. I cannot say enough great things about Rebecca Smith, the owner and her friendly professional staff. She is so beautiful inside and out, as you will also see for yourself. She is well experienced, up to date in color, hair cuts and style. She is very personable, professional & funny too! Her goal is to make you happy and to keep you as a lifelong client...in which I am now just that! My first visit to Rebecca was in December, 2019. She cut my hair in a very cute, easy to manage style that she recommended, which she cut far above better than my prior hairdresser in Washington DC had ever done. I recently went back to Rebecca, June 2020 for highlights after her salon had been closed due to the COVID-19 lock down. I was greeted at locked door, by her friendly receptionist, Jenna. I had my temperature taken, given a mask and then seated at Rebecca's station chair that was sanitized before me sitting down. She first took her time discussing my hair color, my wants, likes and the color shades she professionally recommended for me and she did so as if I were her only appointment or client. She did just what I wanted and I was very pleased. She brought back my natural blonde hair color, just as I wanted. After I left I was back & forth on maybe wanting a few more highlights added. So I called a couple of days later to make an appointment to have more added. She was very happy to do so. She WOULD NOT let me pay her for having them added. She was adamant on getting the color right to my satisfaction. She went well above and beyond! Thank you very much for all you did for me, Rebecca. I LOVE MY HAIR and YOU! YOU ROCK, REBECCA!!!

I kept my hair short and didn't need a stylist of her caliber until recently when Wifey asked me to grow my hair out. So, I did but I didn't know what to do with it and it grew in unexpectedly curly! Jenn may have other specialties, but I've always known her to have magical talents with curly hair. Wifey made an appointment for me and I'll be a loyal patron from now on based on that experience. I got a style, an education about curly hair, entertainment, an affordable fancy schmancy product (turns out my all-in-one body wash, breakfast beverage, shampoo, and earlobe lube wouldn't work anymore), and a bit of confidence about how to handle my new luscious locks. Most importantly, Wifey was pleased with the outcome. I went to Jenn. I liked it. I'll be back soon.

I had no idea what to expect, but I was so excited. What an experience it was! I have never had a stylist be as in depth and knowledgable about my hair type, as Taylor. She explained every step and technique, so that I would be able to recreate the look. Now, come on, what stylist does that?! I kept thinking "wow, I had no idea how to care for natural curls." I'm so thankful that I took the plunge to begin my curly haired journey, and I'm so thankful that I chose Taylor.

She said if I booked the last appointment that I would not have to. I booked for daughters hair appointment(for June 1, 2021)and she refused to allow us in without a mask even with exception. She said she never heard of an exception before. This was the worst experience ever. Taylor showed zero customer service. I'm also not sure if she was discriminating due to race. She is the one who told me to book last appointment and not have to wear a mask. She said since March 2021 rules are more strict. I told her that is not true. Mask rules have been eased since March. She said she was in fear of having her business shut down. I told her there are exceptions to mask and she is the one who told me it was OK when I booked. Very odd behavior by an owner of salon. She needs to be educated to not lie to customers.

That was a patronizing way to not take accountability or responsibility for an extremely bad service that was provided. Maybe part of her issue is that her mother brought her 9 year-old son to the appointment to wait at the salon for Meagan to finish my app. He could not stop saying, "Why can't we go home now?" during my entire appointment!!!!! That is not an appropriate salon setting. What woman books a hair appointment and pays over $200 for a service and has to listen to a 9 year old complain the entire time???!!!! So unprofessional.
