Anyone who says they can't tell the difference between an expensive haircut and a cheap one should experience Smart Cuts in Johnson City for why it's usually better to pay more.
This was my first, and last, experience with this shop. I had a coupon for $5.99 cut, which is what caused me to try them. I was greeted - no, wait, there was no greeting. Just a look at me from some sloppy looking person, I am at a loss as to any professional title I could bestow upon her such as hair stylist or beautician, so I guess I'll just stick with a slob of a woman with hair scissors in her hand. At least I didn't have to wait long. Big deal, and that probably should have been my first clue.
I just wanted my hair trimmed, shouldn't have been that big of a deal. I don't know where that slob learned to comb out tangles, but I'm thinking it must have been the morgue where the people have no feeling in their scalps. My head was hurting so bad by the time she was ready to start cutting that I almost left but decided to stick it out and be done with it.
I guess the haircut was ok, nothing to brag about. I'm used to leaving a salon looking better than when I went in and that sure wasn't the case this time. My hair is long and can be frizzy, but usually when I leave after a cut it at least looks tamed and smooth for awhile, but not from this shop. I couldn't wait to get out to the car to pull it back and put a clip on it to get it out of my sight.
Something that I found especially troubling was that for the whole time that I was there, the slob with scissors and the other 2 stylists were all talking and complaining about the bad customers they had that day. While I understand that when working with the public there are going to be stories like that, PROFESSIONALS keep that kind of customer-run-down chit chat to times when the establishment is closed or when no other customers are present. They talked about families that came in and had all their children's hair cut - that should be considered a good bit of business. Instead, it was fodder for complaints.
Of course I have no idea what was said about me after I left, but I know for sure they won't be bothered with my business ever again. I've been going to the cosmetology school for several years and have always been pleased there, but this time I thought I would try a regular shop. Learned my lesson, I might go to another shop sometime but for sure it won't be Smart Cuts. I don't see anything "smart" about going there. read more
