I saw a lot of bad reviews before coming here so I just wanted to share my experience getting a keratin treatment. I was there for about 3 and a half hours and my stylist, Zena, was very professional and welcoming. She asked if I was doing okay multiple times throughout my treatment, offered me water even though she saw I brought my own water in, and overall I'm glad to have been serviced by her! Here are some before and after pictures of my hair. I'm really glad I got the keratin treatment, this salon is very affordable compared to other places too. My frizz became unmanageable to me and my curls would not form. The treatment relaxed my hair a bit, not mad about that at all, and took away about 80% of my frizz. My hair is longer, seems thinner, and so much easier to manage. It's like my hair got straighten but kept the volume of my texture in tact. I don't see a lot of people with my texture hair so I hope this helps you! Will definitely return for another treatment. read more

I went to Ulta on 1/2/2026. I was there while my friend's daughter was getting her hair cut and tinsel added. During that time, my daughter decided she wanted a haircut with tinsel as well. Mia said a coworker could squeeze her in. I accepted and immediately regretted it. The stylist, Melody, was clearly irritated about having to do the service. A kids haircut is supposed to take about 30 minutes, yet Melody finished her cut in about 5. She didn't wet my daughter's hair, barely brushed it, barely cut anything, and rushed through the tinsel. It was a crappy half-ass job. Mind you I payed $40 for this service on a child. If you don't want to take a client, especially a child, say no. I spoke to the manager who was dismissive and was told I could return within 7 days to have it fixed. I didn't want to come back, but my daughter begged me to, so we returned today on 1/8/2026. The staff stared at us and acted annoyed that we were there. I also overheard Mia joking about the situation while we were present, which was unprofessional. Her friend who she was helping said "well if they don't have to pay, then I don't have to pay" and Mia laughed and said "you're going to get me fired." I'm writing this review because this location showed a complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic decency. I did this for my daughter, but she deserved better. Alright, I usually don't write reviews ANYWHERE, but this one is deserving of a write-up. I booked a hair appointment for 12pm on June 19, 2024. Just wanted to get cleaned up, and wasn't happy with the shaggy length I had but that's besides the point. I come in about 5 minutes prior to my appointment time and get checked in, and sit down to wait. Come 12:15 I am finally welcomed back to the sink to get shampoo'd and otherwise prepped for the cut. Already off to a rough foot from waiting, but I see that the salon looks a bit understaffed so I'm willing to brush it off at the time. I sit down, get the wash, and am given a leave-in solution and told that I'll only be there about 10 minutes. Last I checked, 12:20 to 12:40 isn't quiet 10 minutes. Now I'm less than thrilled, as those wash sinks aren't comfortable. I sit up about 15 minutes in and see the stylist who'd up to this point helped me, and she's working on another client. As mentioned earlier, I wasn't too upset about the initial wait because I had seen the lack of staffing, but to not offer ANY explanation was, in my mind, not acceptable. I finally get rinsed off and taken to the chair, thinking I'll finally get my hair cut, but NOPE! She instead goes BACK to the previous client, finishing her hair first before FINALLY coming back to me to offer an explanation in the form of a double booking. Personally, I think that this is unacceptable and unprofessional, and stated as much to the stylist, which to her credit she was apologetic and did offer an explanation, as well as to see if there was any sort of discount that could be offered. Fast forward through the cut, as it was pleasant and well done once it got started, and I go to get my paperwork for the checkout counter. The manager comes up and punches in a discount code, and I'm handed the paper. I don't think that my wait and irritation was only worth 10% off the cut, as that was still approximately $50+ to spend on a less-than-stellar experience... Needless to say, I'll be finding a different salon going forward, as I don't see how it makes sense to schedule a time and feel that my odds would have been better with my usual walk-in method. read more

Went in to buy some primer. Was given the hard sell on their rewards program which I do not participate in. I was told that if I did not participate in the rewards program, I would not be able to return my purchase. So let me get this straight. If I get my primer home and it is defective, I cannot return it because I did not agree to give you my personal info? In other words, if I do not participate in your program, I am going to be treated as a second-class citizen and not be afforded the rights of other customers. I do not think this is even legal and the Ulta return policy certainly does not mention this which makes me wonder if the salesgirl just made it all up or was told by the manager to coerce shoppers into joining their program by threatening to make their purchase non-returnable. So here's the deal: I do not want to give you my personal info because I do not trust you with my personal info, nor do I want to receive email or texts from you. I also do not want whatever free thing may be on the horizon for me and even if I did want that mini lipstick or those eight drops of moisturizer, I certainly do not want it or them enough to legitimize the tons of waste going into the landfills in order to support sample culture. If I could give negative stars, I would. This review is on behalf of my husband, who was COMPLETELY taken advantage of at the Hanford salon. First of all, my husband went about 8 weeks ago to have his hair dyed silver. When he returned home, I noticed that the front looked fine, but the back was still YELLOW and patchy. He had virgin hair, and had no idea that it was wrong. I asked him if he wanted to go back and have it fixed, but he said no and we fixed it at home using Overtone. He schedule his touch up as instructed by the stylist (Kristen), which was yesterday. He scheduled his appointment on the app, requesting a $60 touch-up and a trim to have his neckline cleaned up. When he got home, his hair was a COMPLETELY different color- purple, instead of silver. He said he was happy with the color being darker, but was unhappy that he got charged $150 for a color when all he asked for was a root touch-up. He told me that Kristen confessed that she "might have gone too light" the last time, and then just took it upon herself to do a complete dye-job. He was also charged $45 for a cut, when all he got was a clean-up. I also noticed when he got home that he had a big yellow spot in the back, on the neckline where she had missed a spot. He hadn't noticed it, and I asked him if he wanted us to fix it like we had the last time, or go back in and have it fixed by a stylist. But what I'm REALLY furious about is the fact that she COMPLETELY SCALDED his scalp. He already has sensitive scalp, but the first time she bleached his hair, he didn't come home with BURNS AND SCABS. As a licensed stylist, I feel that she should have known how to deal with sensitive scalp. My husband did say that his scalp had been irritating him prior to his appointment, but Kristen should have noticed the irritation and suggested that they reschedule his appointment... not put a fresh batch of bleach on BROKEN SKIN. PLEASE, GIVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME TO LOCAL SALONS WHO ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. My husband was completely taken advantage of, over-charged, and BURNED. I went earlier today along with my baby and ofc I took him in his stroller and I carried his diaper bag.. I walked and I did not receive a welcome just a bunch of the employees staring at me and as I walked around the store I noticed a dark skin girl (an employee) following me from aisle to aisle and I immediately knew they were keeping a close eye on me. Not sure because they thought I was going to steal something or because that's what they do . Keep in mind they have a whole ass security next to the entrance too. I came to visit Ulta like I usually do. Never really had to deal with their customer service in the past I usually know what what I want. I grab it and go, I love Mac Makeup and it is the only brand use from the skincare, primers, foundations, to pallets and pallets of makeup. I have purchased so much Mac makeup that the Mac stores would give me a call to try out products exclusively at stores. However my particular visit at this Ulta store was very disappointing. I came in because I wanted to change my foundation. The sales lady at the Mac counter did not even acknowledged us and I didn't think she wanted to work today. I came in and said I needed a new foundation I told her that I just moved here from the east coast and I think my foundation is no longer working and I needed to try for a new color. I asked her that I wanted to try it full face and she informed me that I have to spend $50 worth of makeup because she can even let me try the foundation. I told her how would you know it's what you want if you can't try it. I told her that o was disappointed and I felt like I was being pressured to buy something. I just walked away and started to look at something else. I decided to look at a different foundation options and I wandered over to the Clinique counter they ask if they can help me. I said I was looking for a new foundation I usually wear Mac but a parent you have to spend $50 to try a full face foundation. The Mac Representatives overheard my conversation and began to argue with me. At that point I did not want to spend any money at the Mac counter. The lady at the Clinique counter was really nice, she asked me what I was looking for and she helped me with what I needed perfectly. I purchased foundation, power, and pore-fillers that day. The total was above the $50 minimum in the Mac counter plus the lady's customer service was impeccable and the reason that this review is 3 out of 5 based on my experience. They have great products that were not previously available anywhere in this city, but that is where the greatness ends. They don't have prices on a lot of their merchandise. Unless you are a teenage girl who looks like you are going to steal something forget getting help from an associate. Also, I stood at the salon for 10 minutes waiting for assistance. There was an associate cutting someones hair in plain sight, but no front desk associate. There was also an associate who was on her break talking to the one cutting hair (shouldn't she have been in the break room). Neither one acknowledged my existence. They advertise that you don't need an appointment, but I am not so sure. Needless to say I left without my eyebrows waxed and without purchasing anything. I had an appointment on Sunday with Sophea in the salon for make-up. I checked in about 5 minutes before my appointment and was told she would be with me in a minute. 30 minutes after my appointment time and she never showed up. The salon staff didn't seem at all concerned with her be unreasonably late. I finally left about 30-40 minutes after my appointment time because it was clear she wasn't showing. I learned a lesson: beware of corporate establishments because of the mandatory pricing structure. I went in for highlights of my dark blonde hair and after 5 hours, came out with a single shade of platinum. Had to go back for low lights, which they didn't charge me for but I spent 7.5 hours and over $200 (with the tip for the correction). It's better to go to an independently owned place, look on Yelp or ask for recommendations from friends or on Next Door. My daughter had a good experience so I thought I would too. NOT! The girls are all nice but I think they are taken advantage of because they are just starting out. I'm positive they have more first customers than returning ones. She brought my ombre color at the ends higher up because we were going to cut it short if she didnt do this the ombre would've been ruined. Be very cautious. Hadn't been here in months because my two girls (waxing) had left and I'm very wary of new people. Well. . . I went to get my upper lip waxed because I assume the girls are hygienic and it's an easy wax. A few days later I am still battling this baterial infection on my upper lip - little bumps with polysporin. MAIN ISSUE: After waxing, she saw my skin was reddish and applied concealer with brush (? ) - I have NEVER had it applied with a brush, so my question is -- was the brush not sanitized? End of the day, my most trusted waxing jawn is no longer Ulta. Very upset, because my face is ruined for my trip. read more

Walked into Ulta looking for a foundation didn't know which one to go for so I was looking when a worker name Jeni came by and said if I needed help and I told her I was looking for a foundation she quickly responded yes I can help you with that. She then asked me some questions and right away she gave me options and was so helpful and color matched me. She has been the first person to ever help me like she did at a Ulta. She did everything she can to get me the correct shade and not make me leave with a orange foundation lol. Also she gave me so many makeup tricks and samples. Went in exactly when they opened to get the Ulta X WandaVision makeup line and I walked into the store 3 minutes after 11am and two employees who were shopping on their day off were standing in front of the display, blocking everyone else and filled their own baskets with most of the products instead of letting the CUSTOMERS shop first. I drove 20 minutes out of my way to get 5 items and left with 1 because they had the rest in their baskets. So instead of spending $100+ today, I spent $20 and had to order the rest online. That's bad business for the store in general. I won't be going back to buy anything from there if they're just gonna let their employees buy out all of their limited edition stock and not leave the rest for the customers. I even called to complain and was told that the managers would be talked to about this, but who knows if that actually happened. Second time at the salon. When my normal girl out in town isn't available I've gone here because they always seem to have a slot open which is great. I would love to love them more because the ladies in the salon are very sweet but both times my hair looks horrible. The first time I went in for a blow out and a toner. The tone was not really what I asked for but didn't look bad, and the blowout wasn't that great. I waited to review until I went a second time Incase it was just a bad day, but today I went in for just a simple blow out. When I called to make the appointment she mentioned that any hot tools; straightener or curling iron would be included in the $40 dollar price plus a wash. A little high for a small town like Hanford but I was comfortable paying because it's a name brand store and they got me in same day within an hour. I went in with high hopes because the stylist was very nice and knowledgeable. Unfortunately my blowout was terrible. My hair is still curly on top and underneath the top layers and some areas were still wet. Not sure if it's the shampoo or the oil they put in my hair after the fact but my hair looks greasy and dirty. Then she asked if I wanted her to run the straightener through it; I said yes please, and she said it would be $20 extra. Even though the women on the phone said it was included. I got home to re-examine and it was worse than it looked at the store. I had to rewash and blowout my hair myself once I got back home and had already paid. Really disappointed. For their prices and quality of work they are not worth it. I really love the stylist I go to in town she has great prices and leaves my hair so smooth and straight that it last for days! I've been dragged into a number of places like this, so I'm starting to get a feel for them. This place has a large selection of a variety of make-up lines, from cheap to the more expensive stuff. My wife seems happy with what they have as well as the price. There's always plenty of employees, perhaps more than shoppers. They never ask if you need help. Seems like that bothers some of the other reviewers, but I don't know why. I hate a pushy salesperson, but to have them all around the store is helpful, because if you need something, get this, ASK FOR HELP. They're not fricking mindreaders. Girls like to take their time, trying things, debating on colors and scents (and god knows what else) and so if you don't ask for help, the sales associate has to assume you're just browsing. When Ulta Beauty 1st opened it was kept to higher standards, and I believe it has the potential to be great again... I'm writing this review because I think Ulta should know how it can improve to stay alive. I do not want to see the store disappear from Hanford. I love having a place in town that provides products of all different price ranges. So some ways to impove... 1) The staff need to stop gossiping and complaining while on the floor. It is very unprofessional. It's not social hour, there are customers shopping who don't need to hear about whatever goes on Behind the Scenes. 2) Keep products stocked and areas cleaned. I know it is hard when customers are incredibly rude and don't put things back where they found them leaving a mess in their path, BUT it is still important to keep things stocked and neat looking. You are always out of NYX products. Also, I went in to buy lipsticks and all of the lipsticks had been tested/opened/touched or used by customers, they were also out of place and it was hard to find the color I was looking for. I wish you could expand the prestige brands that you carry. 3) If you have a huge line of customers waiting to pay, help them 1st! And your ear radios seem distracting because you rarely address and making eye contact with customers. Props to the few employees that come around to customers to ask if they need any assistance!
