I've gone to salons with stylists that judged me on the state of my hair health and didn't do much educating at all. When I went to Ulta I had such a completely different experience from start to finish. Customer service: 10/10 When I called ahead to see if there was anyone who was educated on natural kinky coily hair, the stylist who answered (Samantha) was very patient and helpful. She walked me through the services and what she thought could be a good fit. When I got to the salon her great service continued. She had a very welcoming demeanor. Skillset: 10/10 I don't think I've ever had such a gentle hair appointment and on top of that still effective. Samantha is a master stylist at this location and that showed! I loved the way she detangled my hair at the bowl which cut down on detangling in the chair. She even worked the products into my hair so well, I've never felt my hair so soft EVER. She was very gentle with blow drying my hair and not having the dryer up too high. Education: 10/10 Samantha also walked me through a few products that could help with the dryness in my hair and stiffness that I have after blow drying my hair. She recommended a hair treatment and hair balm from sacred in addition to an Amika heat protectant (3 of which I will be buying!). She even recommended ways to retain length/avoid damage for my hair type. I would definitely recommend this location and Samantha! I can't wait to go back for my next trim. I added a before and after of my trim. I decided to not let go as much length as I should because I opted to continue coming back and doing it gradually. read more

Beware of the store credit card scam!! The cashier Brindy asked if I wanted to open a store credit card and I said "no" and she proceeds to ask for ID for my transaction. Why? She claimed that information was missing from my rewards account. Next, I noticed on the screen that she is attempting to apply for the credit card anyway. I reiterated that I said no and she asked if I want the 20%. Finally, I said no again and she rudely said to press cancel for the credit card. This behavior needs to stop and it's unprofessional. Ulta Beauty needs to do better and treat customers with respect and dignity. read more

I have to agree with the reviews I read . It's uneasy to shop and have security eye you every second , Also the staff is unable to assist you , if you can find someone on the floor to assist you your lucky . When I found a worker , she sent me in the back where the item was not where is was , the item I wanted was in front , telling her she sent me in the wrong direction she said I'm on a break anyway .is this how employees work ? I would not recommend getting your make up done at Ulta. I did not have a good experience, I could have done my own makeup at home, I would have done a better job, my face was caked, and my eye lashes were not applied properly, my eyes kept getting stuck together all night at the event I had, I spent alot of money, and it was not worth it at all. The customer service here really lacks. It is the last Ulta I will go to. They also give off the vibe that folks are in there to steal. The racist vibes are also plentiful at this place. Went there this past weekend and there was a security guard having an diabetic attack literally at his post by the door. The manager in training said she called the ambulance but seemed very un bothered. It was the saddest experience I have ever witnessed. I called the police because the security guard fell again , passed out onto the floor. Again the manager in training did nothing but asked me to not call 911 again so there won't be multiple ambulances. Like what ? That's what your concerned about. As literally customers were trying to help this man, CUSTOMERS! I hope corporate either write up the staff that was on duty or fires them. They clearly need proper training, and they clearly do not have a heart ! Disgusting place ever! They are rude and after reading the comments, the security guard was black , which is probably why they didn't help him at all. Sad just sad and out right wrong! read more

It's always about location. Aside from Ulta's low rating, this location truly- is literally a breath of fresh air in so many ways compared to Port Chester's. And aisles have big, well-lit mirrors to try on makeup. I still love my Clarins, Estée Lauder and Shiseido eyeshadow neutral makeup. But in the last several months, I've switched my makeup routine and been turned on big time to Ulta's main brands like Anastasia Beverly Hills, Tarte, Juvia's Place- and a few others they stock on. Plus these guys also carry a lot of hair brands (no Aveda though). You don't need floor assistance to get what you want here- because Ulta is self-service: go through the aisles and sample all the makeup you want. But if you're looking for expert advice on a particular Foundation, Concealer, etc and what color will be good for your skin type, ask for help. Otherwise you can knock it out on your own and sample freely. There's also a 'Benefit' and another makeup counter a soon as you walk in and a hair salon in the back. Product prices are ok and service has been nice. Floor people are scarce here (as one review mentioned)- but if I'm trying on makeup, I wouldn't want anybody hovering over me. read more

Highly disappointed. Recommended by a friend and the store looks great however service was poor. I came in and was greeted. I roamed around looking for what I needed. Though the cashiers were not occupied, no one in the store felt the need to ask me if I needed anything but every time I looked up the cashiers eyes were following me. Luckily, the hairdresser was amazing in finding someone to help me from her station!!! Then that cashier brought me to the most expensive item when there were many more options that I had to ask her about. Where's the experience???? I'll keep going to Sephora. Ulta Salon Story time. For the workers in Dobbs Ferry... Saturday July 20th at 10:50am I made my appt for Samantha for a blowout appt on Monday July 22nd at 3:15pm. That same Saturday, she called and left a voicemail at 3:30pm saying she had availability on Sunday instead for my appt. I did not respond. I was going to a concert Sunday and took off Monday to rest and get my hair done. It is hard to find open salons on Monday in Westchester. July 22nd at 10:19am I get a notification that my appt has changed. I didn't change anything. It appears that they change it to Karina as a stylist for the same time. That was fine. July 22nd 11:32am I get a call that Karina flight cancelled and she won't make the appt for today. I said wait a minute, I had Samantha originally. It was changed to Karina this morning and now she's not even in the state? I needed my hair done today! They said they could not accommodate me for today.... I hung up. I called corporate to let them know they do not respect customers time. Whatever that salon is doing, it's not to Ulta standards. I've been to other Ulta's and 0 problems with services or retail. Wanted to try this one out but I guess I since I wasn't coloring my hair and having expensive processes done, a simple blowout was easy money to lose. No one needs to get fired or anything crazy. Based on the other locations I've been to, this is a pretty good Ulta. As in past Ulta reviews, I must specify that I don't come here for myself - I tag along with my fiance. While they do have items in here that a male can use, I've never needed anything from here - but they do have selections for men if need be, whether it's shampoo, skin care, or whatnot. As with most Ulta locations, this place is pretty well stocked, looked neat and organized, and has an overall good selection on most items. Pricing is what it is, but they do have sales/deals. Been to a few Ulta stores as mentioned, but this place looks much cleaner than the other locations. It could be that this store is relatively new or just better managed. Staff was friendly and attentive. It looks like this general area is trying to construct some businesses, as there's still construction going on across the street. This store (which shares the same space with Chopt and Chipotle) hasn't been around for too long, so the general location seems promising as a shopping area. The parking lot is a little small, but there was more than enough spaces for the time I went. Easy access in and out from the Saw Mill River Parkway. If you're coming here for the first time and using GPS, be cautious as the GPS had me turn the opposite way - I quickly corrected when I saw where it was taking me. I'm assuming because this is a fairly new location that the GPS error occurred, but something to keep in mind if you're not from the area. So all in all a good store for those looking for beauty products, skin care products, and whatever else. I guess if you're going to an Ulta, this would be the location I would recommend. read more

She has always done an incredible job on my hair, and makes product recommendations that work SO WELL for my hair. She cuts my sisters hair too, and was so sweet when she was nervous about going a bit shorter (she really needed to go shorter, her hair was pretty fried from home coloring.) RACISM!! I walked in there were young ladies at the counter , no one acknowledged me, the young ladies continued talking as if I was not in existence. Three customers of Caucasian descent walked in after me, they were happily greeted and they were very eager to help them. In the times we live in, pathetic and I never thought I would ever write such a review such as this. The manager did apologize . I would give this place 0 if I could! DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR CUT HERE!!!!!!! I have been growing my hair out for years... I came to The salon at Ulta to get a Long bob. I came with pictures of what I wanted. At first my stylist "Julia or Joila" (not sure what her name was exactly) seemed nice, very loud, talked a lot, but nice. We talked about how I wanted my hair. I said AT MOST, 3 inches. She asked me if I knew how much three inches were, she showed me with her hand to make sure. I said yes. During the appointment this girl would NOT STOP talking about herself. At one point I had to close my eyes in hopes she would get the point I was trying to relax and not here about her and her boyfriend but she continued to speak to me with my eyes closed. At one point I tried to engage in convo with her because I felt a little bad, maybe I was being rude. So I ask, "Does your boyfriend live around you?" She then went into a 20 minute rant about where exactly her boyfriend lives, and how to get there from Ulta. NO ONE CARES THAT MUCH. To top this all off, I said several times keep my hair as long as possible but I know you have to take some off to achieve the cut I want. Look at the pictures... I dont need to say anymore. Thankfully the VERY sweet manager refunded me. But I hate the way I look now, it's the exact opposite of what I wanted. I worked so hard to grow my hair out and this girl completely ruined it and didn't do what I asked. PICTURED: My hair before (the blonde) what I has asked for, and then what I left the salon with. I don't normally post negative reviews but I woke up this morning and had to look at my haircut in the mirror and I feel the need to share. I went in yesterday based off of a high recommendation of this location from my cousin. I saw Julia and discussed that I wanted my past shoulder length hair to be cleaned up by getting rid of dead ends and having it a little longer in the front. What I got was nothing close to what I wanted. And trust me I know sometimes haircuts don't turn out how you want but not only was this nothing close to what I wanted but it's unsalvageable unless I want a short haircut. Basically what I got was my hair enevenly chopped off. I'll post pictures showing the damage done. I feel the need to post this because I went through the Yelp reviews and saw another girl had this issue with Julia. My problem is she kept saying we were on the same page when clearly we were not. It's not even that it was cut too short but cut so unevenly that there's nothing for me to do but go shorter. This post is only about the horrible haircut I received. After the haircut I was asked if I wanted it curled. What I wanted would look good with a waive so I thought sure that would be nice. She proceeded to curl (and burn) all of my hair. I didn't like it and said I felt the contrast from the front to the back was too severe. She called over the manager Lina who pointed out the flaws in the cut. Again this is just about the horrible cut, because Lina the manager handled this perfectly given the situation. She tried to salvage what she could but because I didn't want to lose anymore hair I did not want it cut any shorter. She comped the haircut and offered to work with me in the future to even my hair out. However now I need to live with this hair until it grows and I'm just deeply disappointed because at this point I could've cut my own hair and would have been happier. I was in dire need for a healthy cut. I remembered seeing that Ulta had a salon. I went online booked a service (signature cut) and scheduled Michele. It was a great experience. She was very patient in listening to what I wanted. She asked me to show her more or less how much I wanted to cut and even asked me again before making the first cut. She was great at getting all my flyaways tamed and did a great job face framing. I'd definitely return to have her cut my hair. The price was fair and a 'new customer discount' was applied to make it even more affordable. read more

Love their salon! Got my hair cut and styled today & I'm super happy with all aspects of my experience. Because Ulta is a chain I was surprised by the quality of hair styling and the level of customer service. Their prices are lower than the other salons in town and the quality of the cut that I got was much better than the cuts I've gotten at the salons in Dobbs. I will always shop small and local before I buy at chain stores but in this case I'm sticking with the salon at Ulta. read more

I went to this location to get my brows done after too many months of waiting. I had gone to the Port Chester location for a while, but when the person I liked left I was nervous to try someone new. I saw 10/10 amazing reviews about Rosita on Google Maps (no, really - go look!) so I decided to take a chance, and I'm so glad I did. It was quick (but not too quick), painless (but still thorough) and my eyebrows are still themselves, just better. Rosita is incredibly sweet and easy to talk to and might just be the one to get me to try eyebrow tinting after all these years. I trust her judgement over anyone else. Go see her! read more

Briana is my only reason to go to ULTA. Briana does it all. She cuts and colors my hair making me look and feel fantastic. Whatever color you want or hair cut and style you want Briana can make it happen. She listens and is truthful. Briana is faithful to her profession. She won't use harsh chemicals that will damage your hair and/or scalp. After going from salon to salon I was referred to Briana and from then on I never looked back. Call ULTA in Dobbs Ferry and make an appointment with Briana. She truly does have magical scissors. You'll never look back after all the compliments you're going to receive. read more

This review is for the salon. When I went in to make the appointment, I spoke to Gina who was very nice and helpful. I told her what kind of haircut I was looking for and that I needed color. I shared that I had a baby recently and because of this my hair is totally out of wack (used to be curly- not so curly right now, a bunch of hair had fallen out after giving birth and I now have a lot of short hair regrowth happening- it was all over the place- I needed help asap). Gina recommended I see Briana. Gina said she gives great haircuts and would be a good match for what I was requesting (essentially a bob with a slightly stacked back). I made an appointment with Briana & she was fantastic. She listened to my current issues with my hair and understood that it is sort of in a limbo state right now with so much new regrowth happening. She said she wanted to err on the side of caution and not take too much off since it was already short- she said she would even out the hair cut I had previously and would stack the back slightly. She was super easy to talk to & I could tell she wanted to make me happy- she is a good listener! And that is definitely what you want in a stylist!! I really enjoyed talking with her while she colored my roots, washed my hair, cut it and blew it out. She is very sweet & easy going- fun and interesting. She did a great job with all the steps of my hair- she would check in with me frequently letting me know what she was doing and if I wanted anything done differently. I really appreciated her communicating with me all along the way. Briana did a great job, was really friendly and is an awesome listener. She also gave me 10% off since it was my birthday! Where do I begin! I love Ulta, In particularly the spa section. I've been going consistently for my facials with Tiffany, and have noticed a world of a difference in the look and feel of my skin. She is gentle yet thorough! We've done peels, microdermabrasion, and blackhead removal. She is the best and knows skin! I would recommend her to anyone. She also does excellent makeup! I just want to give a shout out to SHANNON at the benefit brow bar at Ulta in Dobbs Ferry. This young woman deserves some recognition for the talent she has in sculpting and perfecting my eyebrows. You can tell when someone just goes through the motions while doing their job and this is definitely not the case when it comes to Shannon. You can see by her work that she loves what she does and is very confident in what she does... and she darn well should be! I highly recommend her if you want clean wonderful looking brows that are "the frame to your face." read more

This one star has nothing to do with the best hairdresser. It is due to the utter ineptitude of so-called managers who don't have a clue. I have been in there quite a few times no, maybe 6 or 7, each and every time I have had to wait sometimes HOURS to pay. The don't have. Afte a clue. They are telling me the customer, to call the number of the card on a Saturday night. Of course, they were closed. The time previous after getting a 3-hr. cut, color etc. the card that they gave me with an 8000.00 limit was declined. I had used maybe 600.00 and already paid it down half. Finally, Saturday night they ran out of ideas on how I could pay so the girl said come back tomorrow's next day I was out so I called THEM to tell them I will give them my card over the phone, oh no they can't do that for my safety, but I can get in my car in the pouring rain with my new style getting soaking wet. No apologies at all from anyone. No one has a clue on how to be a manager. The next morning the girl called from allegedly from the store with a major attitude with her baby crying in the background. When I went to say something, she reprimanded me for talking over her. What a miserable experience, beautiful color and cut but there is no customer service, the manager is basically telling me to shut up when I am the one who called them. It's really sad because the 2 middle aged gentlemen doing hair do a fabulous job, but no one could but up with tat mistreatment EVERY TIME you go. Next letter is to their corporate offices and see if anyone has a clue there. After paying 300.00 plus tips i HAVE TO GO OUT DRIVING IN THE RAIN the next day because they could not figure out how to charge me. read more

Why is this store so ridiculously bright? I need sunglasses just to see what's on the shelf. Staff could be more helpful. If you don't have a product in stock - then shouldn't the SALESperson try to SELL me something else? It would have been nice if the sales woman asked what my "beauty" concern was and perhaps offered an alternative product. Instead I walked out of the store and ordered my product on Amazon. So much for client retention. The staff at the Bronx location is much more helpful. Not happy. read more

First Ulta around town, exciting! This location, not so much. You'll wait on an empty line in an empty store with no one at the cash register. No one around to help. One associate has also lied to me about a product not being in stock when the website clearly stated it was in stock, not even in limited stock... probably wanted the item for herself. read more

My mother went here numerous times for a particular beautician and felt very uncomfortable with the atmosphere each time, alot of watching and strange stares while she was getting her hair done in a particular style. She waited 7 weeks for an appointment when she called 2 days in advanced to confirm she was told she's not in the computer and someone will get back to her and they never did. Always gave a generous tip an was very polite. This is not how a business should treat good paying customers. read more

I am writing a review as an ex employee (prestige beauty advisor). I always heard this location had a bad rep for unfriendly and unknowledgeable staff and they were totally right. If you come in and know what you want you won't have a problem. But if you're coming in in hopes someone that cares and actually loves makeup and is happy to help you won't get it here. They don't care about who they hire it's a matter of who is a yes men and just lays low and stays out of the way. Management is a hot mess and treats their employees like crap. I took pride in my job and did the best I could they saw it as a threat and made my work days impossible. This place made me lose passion for makeup. MJ at Clinique and Lorraine at benefit are so helpful and kind. If you have a concern management will care less and spend the rest of the shift laughing and mocking you when you leave. I only recommend coming here for salon. It's a shame and I hope to see new management in the future. read more

I get my color done by Victora and my haircuts with Bri and occasionally see Nicole for blow outs! I can honestly say these girls are extremely talented and know what they are doing! Victora does the most amazing color she is so artistic! Brianna gave me my favorite haircut I've ever had in my entire life! I dont know but everytime I go here I feel unsatisfied . Seems the staff at sephora are more interested and knowledgeable than here .Two girls were more interested in primping each other in a mirror thanhelping me and i asked for a certain product and girl said they don't carry it.
