Every experience I have had at Ulta Beauty has been very positive overall. A few weeks ago, my Dyson Airwrap styler broke and I desperately needed a new one, so the kindest employee helped me pick a new one, and she informed me all of all the pros and cons. Additionally, a kind and talented hairstylist here named Kaysha did my hair for my senior pictures and did a fantastic job. The employees are super kind and helpful. There's always a new stylist there, I used the same one a few times in the past. The first few times she did exactly what I wanted. Then the last 2, she cut my bangs way too short after I explicitly told her not too. I have had a problem with thin hair and she took thinning shears to my hair right after I finally had some new growth. The costs of the hair color and rinses are hidden. They will offer to put a rinse in your hair and ended up costing 100 extra dollars with no warning! The quality of this place has gone downhill from a few years ago. I usually enjoy going to Ulta to shop & browse for new beauty products, but after today I think I'll just be shopping online. I'm a tall blonde haired, blue eyed woman & I was completely being profiled as soon as I walked into Ulta Beauty in Altoona, Pennsylvania today. No one said hello when I walked in the door. I was followed by at least 3 different employees, not asking if I needed help with anything, just following me. It became apparent & extremely uncomfortable to me. I proceeded to the checkout line, which was fairly long & yet another employee walked by me literally 3 times eyeing me up & down looking at what I had in my hand. The cashier could not have been more rude as well. I just want to reiterate, this was the Altoona, Pennsylvania location, not Chambersburg. I forgot to check in while I was there on January 7, 2023... I just want to make that clear. read more

The store is always dirty and a mess. Some of the staff are rude and unhelpful. I never saw a worse Ulta store ever. They claim to do beauty services but cancel the day of and the day before every time. read more

Store personnel tried to insist I wear a surgical mask when I had a scarf as a mask. She was rude. Other store staff were helpful.

I walked in and got no greeting nor offer of help. I walked around looking for a few things, pasted the same store rep. and nothing. i picked up a $40 concealer and i really wanted to buy a good mascara and lashes but was frustrated by the lack of customer service I just left. read more

I would NOT recommend this hair salon to anyone. I took my daughter here to get balayage highlights and it was awful! The stylist clearly did not know how to do the technique, seemed to be in a hurry, and did not do what my daughter asked for. She was even given a photo, yet my daughter came out looking like nothing much was even done to her hair. We requested and paid extra for a "level 4" stylist so that we could get a knowledgeable stylist, but obviously that was a joke. So, the end result is a waste of $200+ dollars and my daughter's hair looking practically the same as before she went in. We will NEVER go back to this atrocious salon! read more

If you like makeup, here you go. Mecca of Makeup. I'm not a makeup wearer, mascara now and then. But, my mom and I went in here to check it out once it opened, and to see what all was available. We both love skin and hair products, so wanted to check that out, too. You can spend a paycheck in a short amount of time. I know it's high quality stuff, but man is some of it outrageous! We were immediately greeted, and greeted several more times by employees. They are always nearby if you need help. One woman was very eager to try to sell us skin care products, but her sales tactics were very, well, "sales-y." I don't like someone hovering and being pushy while I shop, if I need help I'll ask. I don't mind being asked if I need help, but please don't linger. I guess that kind of price tag comes with a different type of service. They have stations you can try makeup and then clean it off, which is nifty. They do have some less expensive items, and a line of their private label makeup that is very affordable. It's a great store if you love makeup, and really love high quality stuff (and can afford it). read more

I went to the Ulta hair salon and got the "go out blow out" according to the website it includes: shampoo, conditioner, and hair styling with hot tools (curling iron/flat iron) for $37. I was going to a Halloween party, thought it would be nice to get my hair styled for it. Since it was last minute decision, I didn't go to my trusted hair stylist. I thought that going to Ulta would be easy and convenient & who could really mess up on curls?! I was WRONG....first of all, she asked me what kind of curls that i wanted. Beachy curls or tighter curls? I said a little tighter than beachy. After about an hour and a half she was done with my curls and they were so tight...I was kinda embarrassed to walk around with them since it was still early afternoon 5ish. Anyway...she said that, I shouldn't worry...they were going to look like that so they could hold up until I went to my Halloween party @ 8. I just needed to run my fingers through the curls until I got my desired look. So I was fine with that...figured that it would be worth it. She hands me my receipt...she charges me the $37 plus $20 for using the curling iron for styling. I paid $57 dollars to get my hair shampoo, conditioned, and curled! I was highly upset...if the price is more than what I'm expecting, then fine....BUT, please tell me before you style it & the website states that the price includes styling with hot tools & I wasn't asking for anything crazy...$57 is close to what I pay for highlights, haircut, shampoo/condition, & style from my normal stylist. So with a $8 tip....I paid $65 for my hair which I wasn't happy with. When it was time to get my costume on for my party...all the curls had fell out...! For no reason...I didn't sleep with them....I got home and watched tv and did my makeup before the party. After all this...I STILL had to redo my curls myself! Very unhappy.... read more

Thee worst make up store. Workers are in no rush to help. The line for check out always takes atleast 10 mins. When telling someone that they need more cashier's all was said that they know, nothing was done. Have given this store multiple chances, every time I leave displeased and annoyed with the services. Will no longer be returning. read more

Beautiful store with a lot of products, but it is always distasteful and unprofessional for employees to talk negatively about the customers once they leave the store. As a customer standing right at the register listening to the 3 girls behind the counter berate a customer ' who was so indecisive' is in very poor taste. I wonder what they said about me when I walked out. read more
