Kelly did my eyebrows - it was painless! She kept me educated about which wax would be best for me and told me about the benefits of using a soy based wax. I initially before scheduling my appointment asked the receptionist over the phone whether or not extractions would be included with my facial service. I've came here multiple times and gotten a facial by the previous Beautician. ( I have no idea what services she was giving me) My skin has "more acne than the average face" when I walked in she already had everything laid out did not give me a consultation and even look at my skin. I was blown away . She already preplanned our appointment without seeing my skin or asking me what my goals were. Since I was let known the extractions were included and I can't tell time while laying on a bed it started to get I started to feel like we were getting closer to the end of the appointment where the extractions begin - I asked her "are we doing extractions today?" We did them for maybe five minutes- My face needs x3 the amount of time I figured she could assume that by looking at me and possibly prioritize it. When I mentioned this to her - as a disclaimer I was extremely calm using a soft tone no aggression, I asked her when we were going to do them since the receptionist let me know they were included. What the receptionist didn't tell me is that the extractions are included for apparently "more-normal" skin. I explained this to her how I was confused over the phone by the receptionist. The beautician started to shake and hyperventilate for the rest of the appointment. Again I did not speak to her in any way to get this reaction. I have PTSD myself and would never put someone else in an uncomfortable position on purpose. She began to make me extremely uncomfortable because of her behavior to the point where I asked her to just remove the product off my face so I could leave EARLY since she was making it seem like it was MY fault the receptionist misunderstood me she "I am also a receptionist I will get in trouble for this, The receptionists aren't trained properly on facial services" NONE OF THESE ARE MY ISSUE - First of all I came here after experiencing a traumatic life changing event and my boyfriend thought it would be nice for me to plan a facial knowing how much I like them. This is the last thing I wanted to happen during my service. Obviously there was a huge miscommunication but at the cost of a customer and maybe others in the future too. I told her "I wouldn't tell anyone because I felt bad" I left without speaking to anyone and the situation continued to bother me. I tried to call and reach back out to the owner- At first I was told she was on vacation ( I thought okay that's normal for July fine) the receptionist, then tried to intercept my call and call me the day before they said she would be back from vacation, I immediately noticed this and told them I didn't feel comfortable speaking with them and I'd call the owner myself. The owner then never called me and I called two more times to leave my number to be contacted. Now i'm not the smartest person alive but didn't the facialist say she worked at the receptionist desk too???? you can do 1+1 right? So this is my complaint I guess, I have your business more than enough chances to fix this. Get better receptionist girls who won't ruin your good business you already have. I remember speaking to someone named Faith who "took my phone number." Unfortunately I loved the services and salon enough to drive 30+ minutes. NEVER AGAIN. The tall brunette (RUTH) that checked us in kept talking directly to my non-English speaking mom when I was clearly there answering her and interpreting. She said that the style my mom wanted was really short and wanted to reassure that that's how short my mom wanted it and even after I answered for her, she says to my mom, "did you hear me?" It wasn't until I told her about my bad experience at the other Great Clips location that she started being nice and attentive as a customer service employee. Although, she did ask if the girl at the other location that was rude to me was, "American-speaking." So that was a big disappointment to hear. Then the other woman with a pink streak of hair working here wore her mask on her chin the entire time AND WAS COUGHING LOUD ASF gave me a dirty look until I greeted her and still she was hesitant to speak to me. I found it ironic and hypocritical how Ruth reprimanded a customer waiting for placing a salon-owned magazine on top of her purse because she had already asked her to wash her hands before touching the magazine.... but she stayed quiet when her own coworker was walking around and coughing without a mask on. They asked for any Pinterest images for reference, and I gave them a general idea and they went with it. They worked with me to ensure that I liked what they were doing and asked for constant feedback. On the day of the wedding, we had them come out to Saline. They arrived promptly and took little to no time to setup. They were amazingly fast but in a good way. They replicated with ease what we had come up with for my trial and worked with my bridesmaids, sister-in-law, and niece to give them what they wanted. We finished far and beyond ahead of schedule, and that was a fantastic feeling. It really helped in the flow of our day so we never felt rushed. Overall, we were all very happy with their services and would whoheartedly recommend them to anyone for their wedding services!

That said, I have moved as far as an hour away from Strands and back to the Downriver area and no matter where I lived, it was always worth the trip for the best haircut and color services in the tri-county area... Shayla is magic. She has such a natural instinct about hair and how it should feel, how the colors should blend, and how layers should fall and flow. She can comb through my hair once and she knows what kind of stupid thing I tried to do to it on my own (e.g. coloring over poorly done cap highlights). I have strayed every so often trying out places closer my house, but I always go back to Shayla for the next cut to "fix" my hair. Shayla isn't the only stylist to trust here though; everyone is really nice and talented as all get out. Tips: If you're looking to get highlights or a color service, prepare to be there for a couple hours and to be moved around a little bit. They are almost always busy and you will move chairs to sit while your color processes, then move to be shampooed, etc. Book your appointment a few weeks ahead if you want your service on an evening or Saturday. Walk-ins are easier most weekdays after lunch time. They are a unisex salon, and do a great job with men's hair, but if you're looking for an old-timey "shave and a haircut", they have a licensed barber during the week (not sure on specific hours or cost, but it's probably more than two bits, lol)...
