First of all, the communication to get info is very frustrating. AGNES is NOT timely on responses…read more When I arrived at 5p the shop was empty for a Friday. So the three ladies were VERY NICE and I'm enjoying my experience UNTIL...a lady came in hollering at me upset saying that what I told her I wanted and what I was getting were too different things. So, I'm shocked and started asking who she was. She said the owner AGNES. I believe there is DEF a language barrier. However, like I told AGNES, I was there to spend money not take from here. I'm going to post the hairstyle I wanted, and what I got. I wanted my crochet styled like the pic I sent. No one told me to get a certain hair, so I got what I've been wearing for FIVE YEARS --GOGO CURL. I normally wear 2 1/2 - 3 packs MAX! One lady was putting a WHOLE CURL in my head. If you know crochet, then one curl can be PULLED APART. AGNES says that's too hard. I advised that I would pull the hair apart. Because the lady used ONE ENTIRE pack on the front quarter of my head, they did NOT have enough hair to finish my head so you will see the pics of what they did! (FIRST 4 PICS and my hair after they finished). Then AGNES Googles my hair telling me I got the wrong hair. Yall I go to Hollywood Beauty on Greenfield and they only have ONE KIND OF GO GO CURL HAIR AND ITS 26 inches BY FREETRESS. Anywho I ended up buying another pack and filling in the gaps. You will see what I DID (LAST 3 PICS AND MY FINISHED PIC), and I have the texts where I sent all of this to AGNES. WILL I GO BACK? I believe I am going to give it ONE MORE CHANCE b/c AGNES apologized and I REALLY want to support this business. I spent $130 and gave the ladies $10 EACH. I also found it odd that they DO NOT have mirrors so you can see the back of your head. I will update if I go back.

I wanted simple box braids and I already have a lot of hair so I knew it wouldn't be a 30-60 min job. More like 60-90 min at least so I scheduled with her for 9am the next morning, I also asked if she would be the one doing my hair as I am very particular and I felt comfortable with her abilities and decorum since we had already built a report. Needless to say, my experience was anything but pleasant I was supposed to have sm) medium all over box braids for $150, I was prepared to add hair if needed and I had brought an extra $20; for the tip. I arrived at 8:45am, was met by the stylist I had spoken to and was asked to sit down and wait for her to finish the other woman who also came in at 9am and was apparently scheduled for the same time So I picked out my hair and sat down with a magazine to wait. Next thing I know, a different woman walks in, Affrikaann' obviously, it's run by Affrikaanns' and I was already fully aware of this. It's perfectly fine to me. However, this woman was NOT happy from the second she walked into the salon. Like she got forced to come in in her day off of or something, and she wasn't afraid to show it! She was pissed and the bottom line is she was rude, she complained about my "White Bitch" hair and thought I couldn't understand, she was ripping at my hair and extremely pulling on it and braiding it as tightly as she possibly could! She got very angry because I was raised by very southern women and my grandma would have knocked a knot onto my head if I acted tenderheaded and gave her any problems, well I guess this B!Tc# was forreal trying to hurt me and got even more upset that I was tolerating her pulling on my hair so well, which is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable BTW! So she was more than halfway through the braids and started to pull hair from the crown section of my hair towards the back, and this time she made sure it hurt, she complained in Affrikaanneese' to the other stylist working right next to her, that "my stupid white woman hair is no good for braiding" and to "look at how it won't even part without tangling!" And she proceeded to PULL a chunk of my hair, dragging it up and into the feed-in hair and started to braid the section of very long hair without parting it first, causing it to of course drag the other hair along with it and cause a mess, as she was doing this she became extremely aggressive jerking and pulling my hair harder by the second and I absolutely was furious, fed up with this abusive treatment and being painfully handled by this woman and so Is she became too aggressive, I grabbed ahold of her arm right in the middle of this horrible scene and jerked my head around and looked at her dead in the eyes! I said "That's Enough!" Thank you very much!!! And I said you are almost finished and I'm not about to let you start ripping my hair out now! I looked at the other woman who was initially supposed to do my hair and I said you will never get me or anyone I know in one of these chairs ever again and I can promise you, if you continue to allow this woman to treat customers like this, you're going to end up with some real problems like lawsuits and out of business I said she lied to me, injured my head, caused pain and treated me disgustingly as if I'm nothing but trash.: Well ,she told her "coworker" not to do that anymore and she did end up finishing my hair and it didn't look as bad as it could have been seriously but then she had the nerve to change the price to $200, so I couldn't have tipped them "IF" I had wanted to the bottom line is, they were awful and treated me like I was nothing but white trash and like I didn't deserve to be treated properly with respect and have my hair done the way I like it and paid wayyyyy too much for this sort of treatment I will never go back there nor would I ever recommend it to anyone especially a white woman on the other hand I thought it was quite hilarious how she thought I couldn't understand what she was saying about me and that my grandmother definitely didn't raise no tender-headed, whiny-ass brat! That I got a kick out of But that does not make any of her actions acceptable as far as the other woman I believe she's the owner and she was very proper very polite she never said anything rude she giggled a little bit but she was very polite I don't blame her for her colleagues actions but I do hold her accountable because it's her shop and she is responsible for her clients hair care and well-being while they're in there.

Even though there's a large African American community in Toledo Ohio there is not a lot of actual beauty shops that specialize in African-American hair. Yeah you can find someone on style seat that may or may not have a beautician's license but if you're looking for an actual shop good luck. So I made this appointment the first time about a week in advance and asked when was less busy time to come because most shops like this book people two to three at a time. To my surprise I came in and I was the only one there at the time of my appointment. Unfortunately there was a rude person that came in complaining about some braids she got done a week or so ago and insisted on getting her hair fixed right now. My beautician actually asked me if it was okay for her to fix her few braids that turned into an hour and a half later. This person was very belligerent so I really didn't want to get into it about it so I told her go ahead. To my surprise after she got done with my hair she gave me $20 off the style that I got for being patient. I really appreciated that because other shops in town don't really care and will charge you full price or over full price. So the next visit I made an appointment a week ahead again and I did not have more than a 10 minute wait for someone to braid my hair. They are not the quickest folks in town as far as braiding but they do a fine job and the prices are on par with everyone else in town. I will be back

Major positives They do phenomenal work. The braids are very neat and they worked with my head shape to give me something worked. Last night it was in a bottom bun and beautiful but of course I took it out as it's not practical to sleep with a bottom Bun. At 1 time they had 3 ladies working with my hair and they were all very attentive. They are not cash only as you can pay them via cash app. As I'm sure people who get their hair braided know, it takes a long while to get braids. They had no problems with me stretching moving around and like as it took 5 or 6 hours for mine to be finished. They had several braiders so if you walk in chances are there might be one that is available for you. Most African breeders come from West Africa is Africa and they speak Is French and broken English. The command of English in this place is pretty good and you don't feel as if though they're talking about you behind your back in French though French is widely used among them. The price is about what you expect which is around 200 some dollars. The only negative I might have is that they are very tight braiders. This is very common anyway so take a pain reliever when you leave and the braids will loosen within A-day or 2. They constantly asked me if I was comfortable With the tightness of the braiding and I chose to have it tight so that they would stay longer.

The owner is very nice. Called to confirm my appointment the night before. If you have been to African braiding shops you know they just tell everyone to come at opening and you may or may not be sitting waiting an hour. Not the case here. Appointments are honored with little to no wait. Can't do 5 stars because I'm not completely pleased with my style. I've had the same style done at another shop and they took extra care to make sure the length of the braids were even, no scalp is visible between braids, and the bob style hugged my face. Here the braids are uneven, just a little too much space between braids and I have to arrange the braids just so . Braids are supposed to be get up n go type styles. I will have to take time with these every morning. However I will return because I loved the professional and 'safe' atmosphere. In and out in 4 hours is pretty good for braids

I tried picking up her calls but they dropped because my service is trash rn. She just gives me a dirty look after I explain that to her and asked for an additional $10 for being late which I said was fine, then aggressively asked me to sit down. She was super rude and took is very personal I showed up late and was being snippy with me. I asked her why is she so hostile when in the past I had appointments with her and she overbooked and had me waiting over 30 minutes to do cornrows and braids for other people coming in . She lied and said she's never left anyone in the chair and her friend was defending her. I proceed to ask for my money back and by the 4th request she threw my money at me as I was sitting in the chair on my back side and told me to leave as if I wasted her time. The inconvenience I supposedly caused her is something she can't admit she's caused in past times. I didn't have a problem paying the late fee and getting my hair done BUT she proceed to be snippy and take it personal that I was late. Bella that's not professional! I went somewhere else with my service that does a better job of braiding for $180 in the Toledo area. I would not recommend their services to anyone. I'm personally not from here so my biggest mistake was not scouting around to find better shops. I'll be letting my friends and colleagues from the University of Toledo and hospital know not to go here at all. Thanks for showing your professionalism and telling me to get into a car accident today after you got mad I cursed you out. Don't throw money at me and expect respect.
