So here's my story: I was a member of Retro Fitness and unfortunately, still am because the powers that be in management told me that since I paid for the year, they can't refund me. Do I go to retro anymore? Heck no. Why? Because once you step into the UFC gym, when you go back to Retro or Crunch, or Blink, and you say to yourself: What kind of 1 dimensional crap is this? From the moment you walk in there, the staff at the front desk, the managers, coaches, and even the gym members are really cool. They greet you even though they don't know you(be social and get to know them then). The place is kept sharp. I mean off the hook sharp. No matter what plan you go with, take advantage of every opportunity time permits to go because the place doesn't close! Yeah, you heard me right. Take classes. Whether you want to learn martial arts or just keep fit, push and test yourself. Try any class Everyone treats the place like family and there's a great aura. It's not a musclehead jock type ego filled gym. One word of caution: DO NOT LET THE WORD GYM FOOL YOU. UFC Gym is much more than that. It's your membership. Make the best of it. As for me, I've never felt more alive taking classes and meeting my fitness goals. 223 now and will be 200 and under by the end of the year. Don't ever want to leave either. GO FOR IT! Been signed up to this gym for close to 3 weeks now and as far as the gym area and equipment go it's nice, not cramped the machines are up to date and work. I'm a male so I can only speak about the guys locker room but it's disgusting, I have yet to see any staff cleaning the floor or anything for that matter, after my first visit I had used the sauna and showered, the next day I had ringworm on my foot. 3/4 of the showers are broken or didn't work properly. The two urinal's are broken and don't flush yet people still use them so it smells. I know for a fact the showers aren't cleaned because the same shampoos and a random bar of soap have been there since I joined. read more

I signed up for a membership at this gym a few months ago. Before joining, I clearly stated that there was a strong possibility I would be relocating, and therefore requested a no-contract membership. The manager at the time agreed to this and assured me that my membership would be month-to-month. I was also informed of a promotion offering two months "free," contingent upon paying an annual service fee--which I accepted. Recently, I returned to cancel my membership and was told that my account was under a contract. When I asked to speak with the manager who assisted me, I was informed that he no longer works at this location. I was then told I would need to pay my remaining balance in full in order to cancel. This is a highly unethical way to conduct business. It is unacceptable to make verbal commitments to members and then later reverse those terms--especially when the original agreement was a deciding factor in joining. I intend to file a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau regarding this matter and the misleading practices I experienced. read more

I stopped being a member and cancelled my membership of this gym back in August 2024. I expressed my reason because they let wannabe influencers set up tripods and full on video sessions while I'm working out. I don't want to be in anyone's video even if I'm not the main character. The front desk girl said it would be taken care of and no action needed on my part. Now i'm getting collection calls that my membership was not cancelled. She clearly was protecting her friends the wannabe influencers and never processed my cancellation. Now I am trying to call the gym and speak to the manager or owner, who are never there, and no one is answering. Don't waste your money on this gym. Even Crunch or LA Fitness is better! read more

I hate to write a negative review but given the circumstances I feel it's warranted. In late 2018 I went into the gym in person requesting to cancel my membership as I was busy and travelling for a few months, with the intent that I would sign back up a few months later when things settled down. The manager was brought over to the front desk and we went to his computer and he assisted with my cancellation. I specifically asked him to provide any paperwork required to be filled out by me and he said that I am good and that none was needed. After leaving the gym I did not receive a charge for several months. I then unexpectedly received a membership charge. I contacted the gym and requested explanation for the charge and received none. It was suggested that I come in person to cancel if I did not wish to continue paying membership fees and I informed them that I had already done this several months prior. Over the phone and email communication nobody even attempted to explain the reason for the charge to me. I followed up repeatedly and UFC Gym stopped replying to follow ups. I passed along the communication to my credit provider and protested the charge, this protest was approved by my credit provider. I also of course decided not to sign back up due to the poor communication here. Now I am hearing from a collection agency and having to pay $278 for services never provided or requested to avoid derogatory marks on my credit. This is theft. It is incredible to me that UFC gym is so shortsighted, as that isn't even equivalent to a year of membership dues from me so even from just a financial view this is the wrong decision. Not to mention the value of avoiding negative reviews, or dare I say even the value of common decency. Also curious is that that dollar amount includes charges for the months when I had not received statements or charges to my card noted above. Gym itself is ok, just don't ever cancel. And if you do refuse to leave without written cancellation despite the manager insisting that no paperwork is required. I should have done this myself but trusted the manager which was clearly a mistake. Even after the fact the gym had months of opportunity to clear this up with me and failed to do so. For example, it would have been simple to admit a mistake by the manager and ask me to come in to sign cancellation and waive the errant charges. Or even turn the charges into credit for future months when I sign back up. Or even to simply reply to my emails. In my opinion this behavior is inexcusable. read more

If I could give this negative 5 stars I would. First off during this whole pandemic most places are understanding of people's situation and notify their customers of charges before reinstating memberships. This gym has the audacity to say that I received emails, all while supposedly tracking if I read them or not, when I went through several emails and email accounts with no record of receiving anything about being charged when gyms opened. Overall, gym was nice and seemed fairly new. However, when I went to cancel my membership, that's when then problems began. When I originally signed up, I paid over $120 for a deal I was offered by signing up with two other friends that day. Great deal. Person I spoke to was nice and thorough. He also told me I had up to a month to cancel and I would get a full refund if I decided to cancel within that month - I double checked this info with him and he assured me I had 1 month. I go in a few days before the month ends, cancelling my membership due to various reasons. The person at the front desk was hesitant to let me cancel, asking me for my reasons, which I explained. I also explained the situation where the guy I signed up with said he would give me up to a month after they told me there was a 5-day cancellation policy. The guy looked up who I signed up with on my file because I didn't remember his name, and confirmed with that person. He then gave me the cancellation form, I filled it out, and was told I would be given a full refund in about 2 weeks. Almost a month goes by, and no refund. I gave them a call, had to explain my situation all over again, to which they gave me an email address where, again, I explained this same situation. I even attached a picture of the cancellation form I had filled out. The guy on the phone said that it's probable I would get a full refund, but he didn't want to give me any guarantees. Okay. About a week goes by, and no replies or refunds. But I do get an email stating that my card had been charged. Again. And this is AFTER I had cancelled. I had already paid for the next month when I originally signed up by the way, which is why it was over $120, but they charged me anyway of over $60. So now, I'm around $200 short and nobody is replying to me nor helping. Would not recommend the customer service because this process has been painstaking. read more

This gym has all the bells and whistles of a UFC gym but it is so poorly managed. The men's bathroom stall AND urinal have been broken for months. There's only one of each now and they are never cleaned for months at a time. There's never any toilet paper, paper towel, or soap. No one seems to care. The gym is a filth. I only go here for the Brazilian Jit Jitsu training that is renting the space, otherwise this gym is not worth the money. There's no water fountains available around the gym either, so come prepared with your own fluids. This gym highlights the importance of hiring a good manager for your business. read more

COVID PRICE GOUGING After the statewide shut down was issued in April, I was still charged for the membership despite it being clear that patrons would be unable to go. I still had to email them to cancel the membership as I was physically unable to. Fast forward to September, I again was charged for a months membership despite me making it clear that due to a pandemic, I clearly could not continue my membership. I called for two weeks with no response, I sent multiple emails and got no response. However; they still were able to email me when the charges were not going through. When I finally called and explained they laughed and insisted I have to physically come in and cancel. Despite the fact that I have immuno compromised people in my home and cannot risk exposure, the General Manager did not seem to care. He began lecturing me on supermarkets and my verbal skills. I'd like to see him tell that to someone who lost a loved on because of the same neglectful attitude this manager and gym showed me. The Gym is not bad and has pretty decent classes, however the staff is quite rude. One of the gym owners has been rumored to offer people steroids and there are quite a number of employees that conduct themselves in an inappropriate manner towards female employees and female gym attendees. This gym although spacious and rather new doesn't seem safe for female goers and impressionable young women. I would not want my daughter coming here. As long as you don't get involved with the staff on a personal level of any kind the overall experience here seems to be okay. read more

Signed up for the gym! I was originally at a different gym in the area, but the 24/7 opening really is a game changer for me. Pros-- -Brand new gym, new equipment - Crap load of extra gear ( boxing bags, weight sled, flipping tires, and more) - New weight area, two olympic style lifting squat racks - Great lockerooms, clean! - Variety of cardio equipment -Open 24/7 Cons-- - My biggest gripe is that I was not told (pre-sale) to attend the BJJ Gi classes, you needed to buy a UFC gym gi-- which will run you around $99 or since they dont have any more white gis they will try to up sell you to the black ones which are $189. (bummer if already own good quality gis. When I saw the sales guy who didn't tell me about the gi purchase for the bjj classes, he laughed and thought it was funny... not cool - Could be cause they are new, but the gym staff wasn't really to helpful with questions or friendly - Already weights seems to be in disarray and not organized - The weight area although new, is not very big Pro tip: If you are going to train BJJ at this gym-- work with Bibiana Silva, she is a certified bjj Black belt. While I also did a class with Josh Key, who is a pro MMA fighter, he is a brown belt and he will tell you that he sometimes makes up his own bjj moves, which is cool, but not for basic level teaching(teach the basics) and it's kinda weird for a brown belt to make up their own stuff. I joined this gym in August 2019 and at the end of the month; I advised Maria that I would like to cancel. I was provided with a cancellation form; which I filled out and returned a few days later. I was advised that I would require a 30 day notice to do so. That meant that I would be charged for the month of September; which I was fine with. October rolls around and I there's another charge; so I call up the gym and I am advised that even though I completed a cancellation form, a Manager would still need to sign off. So why hadn't they signed off?. I refused to make any payments after September. To add insult to injury, I get a call from a company called Swift Fund Financial, on behalf of UFC Gym, threatening to report me to the credit bureaus. How dare you? I've written maybe 2 negative reviews in my entire life. The only reason I'm spending my time writing this review isn't because the customer "service" is nonexistent or because the billing practices are unscrupulous, although both are true. I mean any gym could have a couple of bad employees or make a billing error. I'm not going to hurt someone's business with negative reviews without offering an opportunity to do the right thing as a human being, which MOST business owners greatly appreciate, and everything works out 99% of the time. Well, this gym, the GM Jason, the billing manager Talia, and the manager before her named Carlo fall into that 1% of people who have no humanity and arrogantly believe that they can treat their members with zero respect and prosper as a business. They are not good people, and that's why I'm writing this. Let me tell you my UFC North Brunswick horror story. I moved to Northern Cali in late May last year after my son passed away. I had been taking care of him since early February and froze my membership. I eventually had to leave my job, as I had no one to help me. I moved to Redding because I needed a place to regroup. I realized at this time, that I had been getting automatic deductions the entire time it was supposed to be frozen. I called and was told to contact Carlo, which I did. I wrote him an email explaining my situation and asked him to cancel. I got no response at all! Then the place I just moved to (Shasta County) had the worst wildfire in its history. Thousands of homes and businesses were lost and my entire city was evacuated. I couldn't believe this was happening. The blaze came within less than a mile from my apartment. It was impossible to find a job and my savings were depleted. I got behind on the rent. On Dec.11, I discovered that UFC gym had been charging me this entire time while even tacking on late fees. I was shocked. I wrote letters explaining all of this to Talia, Heather (in corporate finance) and even submitted an email through the corporate website to make sure that SOMEONE would read it and help me to simply cancel my membership. I got NOTHING!....except another email about the $65 they were unable to withdraw from my account and more late penalties. I got on the phone a week ago and was told to write to Talia. The receptionist seemed sympathetic and informed me that Carlo no longer works there and maybe that's where the error occurred. She seemed to understand my frustration and apologized, letting me know that Talia would take care of it. I felt a bit of hope that this horror story might finally come to an end. I wrote to Talia explaining everything in detail and believing she would do what any healthy functional person would do under the circumstances. A week later, I heard nothing! This morning, I wrote another email asking if she received my last email and is taking action, letting her know that I'd escalate this if I don't get a response in 24 hours. It worked! I finally got a response! // Hi James, I have investigated your account and there is no record of your cancellation on file. This gym is AWFUL. I have a ZERO contract with them yet despite my constant complaints, they continually harass me for money. I had to call my bank & provide the $0 contract to them in order to have the charges reversed and stopped. Calling the number they provide to deal with billing (888-305-3885) leads you to someone who says they have no access to your information in order to deal with your complaint. It is so badly run... the employees all complain they are treated like slaves. It's a true shame this gym was sold as a franchise. read more

Over the last year I have lost 130lbs and have gone to different gyms trying to find my gym home And after being truly dissatisfied with the other gyms and retros in the area came here. I have been at this gym for two or three months and everyday I'm so glad I made the switch!! I am training for my first figure competition in the summer and this gym has everything and more I would ever need or want.These people and this gym have truly become my second home and a part of my family!!The people who work here truly care about the people and the gym environment which other gyms in the area don't really care about. The trainers at Ufc are the best I've ever seen Alex and Obi are the best you could ever ask for!!! These guys truly know what there doing and truly care about there clients health and well being I highly recommend them. So come on over to Ufc North Brunswick and get that Ufc bod!! Expensive over $70 per month or more for the UFC North Brunswick gym membership (Manhattan prices) that don't deliver what they advertise. General Managers change monthly, so your concerns are not addressed, everybody understands, but nothing changes. Equipment repairs take a long time, six stairmasters only 3 work. Classes are cancelled at the last minute or you show-up but the instructors don't. A few months ago, there was an 8:00 am Saturday morning class which was well attended, now there is a $125 charge for the same class. People join and within weeks they quit. Why? Since 2017, there is a black garbage bag on the back wall - why? Many rumors about what is behind that garbage bag, afraid of what we're all inhaling - whatever it is, issue still not resolved. Do Frankie Edgar really know what is happening at this location with his name of it? This gym is worse than WOW and I didn't think anything could get this bad. I read the other reviews, 4 to 5 stars, nonsense. In process of finding a new gym. Do yourself a favor, don't do it. read more

We joined the UFC GYM in December for my son who is 14 because he wanted to box. We were happy of the warm welcome and that we could sign my son in and come back as he worked with a trainer if he chose to do so. We only went once as my son was not feeling so well and I have been fighting breast cancer. Well I thought it was going to be a nightmare to cancel membership, but I was wrong. Raj the manager and a sweet man forgive me for not getting your name but you gave me such a kind hug assisted me. They did not make me pay the last month's fee because of my circumstances and had the biggest hearts. Clean, new gym with good equipment. Horrible staff and pricing - classes geared toward exercise, not fighting. Backstory: Walked in to cancel membership late August. My billing date was September 10th. Spoke with General Manager Anthony who offered a membership to use the gym only (I was upset with the class aspect). I was told by him that I hd until September 10th to make a decision (downgrade membership vs cancel) and that if I was to cancel, I would not be charged. On September 8th, I returned to the gym and decided to cancel. I filled out a cancellation form (with manager Anthony present) and pointed out a piece of literature on the form that stated you needed to cancel 21 days prior to your billing date. I was again told I would not be charged and I left without issue (at this point - appreciative he was trying to help me out, so I thought). Come September 10th, I was charged full membership fee. Called in yesterday and spoke to David, who is supposively in charge of billing, who told me nothing could be done due to the fact on contract it states I need to cancel 5 days prior to my billing date. Explained the backstory, and he claimed he would let Anthony know via email and in person and get back to me. I had to call in the next day and Anthony picked up, had no clue of any of this, and apologizes for his 'mistake' as this is all 'new' and 'changed' for him. Beware the staff here. As a former member of WOW I was unsure of what to expect from UFC. I am old school. Give me a good selection of weights, some functional machines and I am easily pleased. I could not care less who's name is on the gym or that there are group classes, just not my thing. Well I have to admit UFC has done a good job so far. Plenty of free weights, benches and great machines. Everything new and clean. All that is needed is another Smith Machine ( 1 is not enough ) and a few more moveable basic flat benches. I don't even mind the "Gym Warriors" who punch and kick the bags and dream of being able to win a fight!! So far all looks good. read more
