I was very impressed by his response and am hopeful to see continued service levels across all area at Life Time. Unfortunately I echo many of the other reviews on this site - poor customer service and employee training-resulting in terrible customer experience. I recently went to the spa for a massage. Upon checkout the receptionist told me there was a note on my file for 20% off my service. She reached out to the spa manager who indicated since there was no name or date on the note that they should ignore it and did not honor the discount. When questioned they said that it was an employee error. Seems like the customers bear the brunt of all employee errors--I did send a note to the GM - Hayden Duffy. Folks I'm sad to say the gym has continued to only get worse. Life Time Princeton suffers from a poorly trained staff and employees. The manager at this location doesn't care about members and doesn't even bother to make any improvements. The only thing you can expect is a no effort generic response. They rushed me out, barely letting me get 2 questions in and they wouldn't even let me take a look around. Average gym, filthy locker and shower. Most of the gym equipment is broken, has cracks on the leather cover (prone to bacterial infections). This is one of the worst lifetime I've ever been to. The new manager seems as bad as the last one. Fortunately a member has already contacted the HQ with receipts. Example of mismanagement: Men's sauna has been closed for 1 month for no reason and now is closed again for months without proper communication. But they reorganized the order of the weights. I went to this gym for a year and it's a better version of LA fitness. The actual fitness center is not bad but weird that none of the equipment was bolted down so I had to often move the machines myself from their wooden floors, perhaps that why? I really liked that they had a ton of squat racks, which is rare for a gym, but disappointed that most were mostly reserved for group classes. That's really what makes this gym cause group classes are encouraged as well as personal training. If I remember correctly, the small group classes were inclusive of their 300$+ monthly fee, but not the PT which you are forced to buy into when you join. So if you're just looking for a place to workout then it may not be the place for you. It's a beautiful space and they have some great pools so could be useful for the summer. The sauna and steam rooms were clean and well kept too. I believe they had just a summer fee for the pool if you're looking for a close getaway from the summer heat. Forget about actually using the pool. The pool area is total chaos and the gym holds swim lessons and swim team from 4-8 Monday to Friday. With no lanes for other people. If you come during the day to swim or after 8.. you also can't get a lane or have to share a lane with many other people. There is never a time to actually enjoy your swim workout. The pool area should always be available to members instead of lifetime trying to upsell and squeeze more money. We pay a premium each month and I can't even access the pool. I have been a member of Lifetime Princeton for about 2 years now and I think I can provide a comprehensive feedback about this gym. To date, the gym has been consistent, it hasn't improved and it hasn't gotten worse. The good: This gym has great classes, huge space for various workouts, lots of equipments from cardio workouts, weight lifting, as well as recovery. I rarely have to wait for machines. Most machines are also really well maintained. Friendly people and staff. 8/10 The "okay" / bad: Keep in mind that this is a family gym, there are kids running around and occasionally occupying machines for fun, and it gets pretty dangerous if not being used properly. Also, Lifetime Princeton has lap pools and but they often occupied by classes. 7/10 The ugly: OMG, this gym is filthy. To compared, I have been a member of various gyms in the past: CanDo, Blink (NYC), Equinox (NYC), Base (JC), Lifetime Princeton is DIRTY. They are always out of disinfectant wipes at the main gym area, bathrooms and locker rooms are always filled with used towels on the floor, hair is everywhere, foul smell, and the steam room floor are just dirty... -10000/10 Overall, great place to be. I loved my time at life time Princeton. The amenities were always clean, staff really nice, and there was always equipment available that I needed (and I often go during peak times). The steam room is definitely my second home. What really is the cherry on top for me are the classes. The profs are super energizing and know what they are doing, and make the whole membership worth it for me. I particularly loved the upper rx, barrefusion, and barbell class which are in high demand for a good reason! read more

I have been a member there for several years and membership fees have really gotten out of hand. And I just received an email today stating that they are increasing the cost of monthly membership AGAIN. They claim they have a waiting list for membership which may or may not be true. I do know that they experienced an uptick in membership when Plainsboro Fitness and Wellness (located in the hospital across the street) closed a few years ago. The bottom line is that Lifetime does not have much competition in the area and that leads them to believe that they can charge whatever they want. However, I have heard that LA Fitness will open a location in the Princeton area which will lead to competition. LA Fitness is a FANTASTIC gym and their monthly membership is less than half the price of Lifetime. When this happens, expect a mass exodus from Lifetime. read more

Sauna steam and jacuzzi all being shut down until further notice due to "full renovations to the steam room." After the steam room has been out for a month already, is an absolute joke. Can't even get a straight answer as to when they think it might be back up. Was told to go to another facility in the mean time. Missing handle attachments for equipment. Life Time Princeton gives a suboptimal experience. The mens room Steam and Sauna is out of service for over a month ... and they keep closing it frequently. When ladies room steam and sauna needs work, they swap the changng rooms and again men have to suffer with no steam and sauna (understandbly cause men are fixing those things) but they do not reduce the fees instead they keep increasing the fees. Classes are ok nothing great. very few instructors led classes actually are good - meaning most of the instructors that handle classes just stay put and do not even correct the form or help in any way. read more

I was a member for 15 months. I only was interested in swimming. As such my opinions center around the pool areas. 1) the pools are chlorine. This sux. 2) they're always overcrowded and sharing lanes is uncomfortable because they're not very wide. 3) the warm lap pool is dirty. 4) unsafe operating conditions- no lifeguards from 4am to 9am and 9pm till closing at 12 midnight. This by the way, is in violation of NJ regulations regarding minimum number of lifeguards required for 10 pool lanes, at all times. Look it up! 5) Too many kids. 6) Half the pool area is 100% for kids and very shallow. Great, I'm not 5 yrs old. 7) The hot tub is tiny . Compare it to RWJ In Hamilton. 8) The cleaning staff are rude. And they don't clean much. Floors are dangerously wet everywhere. 9) the check in process is inefficient and stupid. 10) the place is extremely noisy all day. Club music is playing too loudly everywhere. One program at the entrance. Another inside. Still another in the mens room. Is everyone deaf at Lifetime?? 11) the price is outrageous. Over $200 per month. Some pay $300 per month. RJR Fitness in Hamilton has a salt water pool , great facility and is about $75 per month. Lifetime is essentially a marketing company selling a lifestyle, with an overpriced, overrated fitness division. It's ok, but barely. I'd consider it to be a scam. You could build a pretty amazing home gym for about six months of dues and fees here but if you don't want to go it alone there's the almost brand new Life Time in Princeton/Plainsboro, NJ. The facility is well equipped and abundantly staffed. If you're looking for room to breath and relegating the hoi polloi to sweat it out in steerage at the servants gym at Planet Fitness, you've come to the right zip code Mr. Bezos. Swimming, cardio, classes, free weights, it's all here in spectacular abundance. Better yet, cleaning and general hygiene seems to be a high priority. Personally, I went the home gym route because I have trouble rationalizing a luxury car payment every month just to sweat. I'd much rather own than lease and besides, gyms make it so easy to join and then put you through the gauntlet and force you to chew your arm off when you have the gall to move or cancel. My biggest problem with this gym is that there isn't a lot of equipment and you're often waiting a decent amount of time to use a machine. They have a copious amounts of treadmills and free weights but for the price you pay it would be nice to not have to wait for some machines. The most diverse athletic club probably in the entire world - from young to old, every level of fitness, more culturally diverse than pretty much anywhere. After the Princeton Fitness and Wellness Gym was closed a year ago in Plainsboro, NJ, I switched to Life Time. It is a well equipped large facility, but it needs a more thoughtful management. Music is always so loud that even ear buds, ear plugs, or ear phones don't suffice. Instructors have to yell very loudly to be heard in their fitness groups, which other users may not want to hear. The latest disappointment started in January 2024: gym users whose membership is paid by Medicare supplement are not allowed to use facilities earlier than 9:30 am anymore. Highly unethical practices at the gym. You sign a contract for one price, but they charge another and you aren't even given the option to opt out of a new month. It's a nice gym, but definitely not worth the price overall, especially given the wait for some machines at certain hours. To be honest, I think this is why they don't care about raising prices and losing old customers, because there might be too many people at 'rush hour' anyway. Your best bet is to avoid signing up entirely, especially if you don't want to get yourself in a headache situation paying a different price then what you signed up for. This is by far the best gym that I have ever belonged to. I was like a kid in a candy store when I visited Lifetime for the first time. The building itself is massive and so impressive just at first glance. Then you step inside. Just walking in, I was blown away. The staff was so friendly and professional. (One tip: if you don't take a tour before signing up, ask for one when you go for your first visit. The place it huge and looking back I would have loved to have gone on a tour.) The front entry is quite impressive. There is a massive staircase along with a vaulted ceilings and such beautiful decor. Then I went to the locker room. You could spend an entire day in there. The lockers are clean and have their own locking system, (you use a 4-digit code). There are tons of showers with all of the supplies you would have at home. The are about 20 sinks and all of them have shaving cream, razors, q-tips, mouthwash and lotion, (I'm sure I'm forgetting somethIng). There is also a huge hot tub, direct access to the pool along with a steam room and a sauna. I cannot believe these locker rooms. I would kill for this to me by own bathroom. The actual exercise equipment is state of the art, brand new and there are just tons of each. I have never not been able to find a machine to work on. I have also been blown away by the classes offered just in their basic membership. While the price of this membership can seem quite expensive, if you really think about the amount of classes that are offered per day at these studios, the price really is fair. I pay more than I do here for a membership at my yoga studio, and the yoga classes offered here are phenomenal and up to par with traditional studio classes. You also get barre, spin, weight training, cardio, Pilates and so many other classes offered here. It is really incredible and I am so lucky to call lifetime my gym. I love it here. read more

When I first joined this gym, I was really happy with the membership, even though it was running me alot for me and my kid. I joined mostly for the pool access. The previous managers were kind and all throughout 2021, I was never charged any additional fees for bringing in guests. This year, I find out there's a $50 charge to bring in guests. I tried to speak to the new manager, Kelly, and boy did she sure turn me off. Unhelpful, did not care to solve any of my issues and basically told me to go away, without using those words. Then on top of that, I find out fees increased and they started charging a credit card fee to run my cc every month. The bill was becoming outrageous and honestly, I just had enough so I cancelled. Although the facility is well kept, there were a few things needing attention. By the pool, there was always a bee/wasp issue and I got stung at one point. The bathrooms by the pool/cafe outside, reeked of marijuana and although I emailed the manager, I never heard back. I spent a lot of money in this gym between membership and cafe but in the end, they didn't even care to resolve my issues. I like working out here, but the staff barely lifts a finger when it comes to enforcing the rules. I can't tell you many times I see people hogging machines looking at their phones, which keeps others from using them. Also, you have other members on the treadmills, bikes, and elliptical talking loudly on the phone, not giving a damn about how it bothers others. And yet the staff does nothing about it. It's a shame -- it's a good, clean gym, but it's rapidly becoming just like the other gym chains that just want to sign new members up as rapidly as possible, but the long-time members who follow the rules are left out in the cold. read more

Update : They insist on not changing their paper towels, even after being notified of the strong Indian spice smell. People will dry their hands and face with these towels, use all the machines and sweat right next to you in group classes. Indian food smell is going all around the gym, absolutely disgusting! God forbid the management takes the smallest step to improve member experience. You can see their reluctance to improve in their response below -- why does the platform of the feedback matter, once you hear what the issue is, you can take action to fix it if you have any intention to do the right thing. I was not a member of this facility until 2 weeks ago. In an attempt to find an outdoor pool during the rest of the summer, I joined for the month. Wow!!! I'm so impressed with how they've handled everything. Total safety measures in place, social distancing, sterilizing, etc.. the pool area is so big and beautiful. Feels like I'm in a resort hotel!! There's a large family pool for everyone and then a lap pool for swimmers. The pool at my community was closed for the summer because of Covid but this has saved me for August. The facilities and services are amazing, so I don't understand why the staff that try to sell you on the membership have to lie, misinform, and distort information about it to try to convince you! Every time I speak with someone I get a different answer. When I bought my membership last year, I was told several things that weren't true, and spent my money based on that information. Once I paid and became a member though, I had to argue and talk to management (which I hate doing!) to receive any of the benefits promised because apparently that info wasn't true. Whether it's a lack of training, a persistent misunderstanding, or deliberate dishonesty I don't know, but to this day when I have questions about my account I get a different answer from every person I encounter (and I ask for it in writing now). That being said, they have really nice facilities, the hours are good, it's always clean, there are lots of great class options, and the integrated wellness programs are a nice feature I haven't seen in other gyms (you pay extra, but they do have some medically trained staff to help with diet and active metabolic assessments at least as of last year). The rating would be a lot higher if it weren't for my intense frustration with some of the staff. Y'all need to invest in some training or hire people who retain it. read more

LT Princeton gives only a warning for sexual harassment case. On Friday afternoon 8/9/19, I walked out of the office of a LT General Manager with eyes red and swollen from crying.   Late Wednesday night 8/7/19, I decided to go to Life Time to take a walk on the treadmill and to relax in the jacuzzi and to go for a swim.  There was one male member in the jacuzzi who started off saying that it's so nice to destress after a long day of work.  I agreed and said how much I loved LT. We conversed like I normally do with other LT members. The member said that the family room is very nice, it has private showers.  I replied, "Oh, my son is going to be 13, we don't use the family room." He asked me if I wanted to go there with him.   I reported the incident to the front desk.  They found out who the member was. They said they would report it to the General Manager.  I did not feel safe and it was past 11pm at night. LT staff were great and walked me to my car.   The next day, Thursday, I followed up with the receptionist about the incident.  I asked if the member was terminated. She recommended that I speak to the manager the next day. No one contacted me about this serious situation. I had to followup myself. The next day, Friday, I asked to speak to the manager.  The manager told me that he spoke to the member and that the member denied having invited me to the family room.  The manager said he warned the member that kind of behavior is not allowed.  I thought a more aggressive approach was in order for sexual harassment. A member I never met before asked me to go the family room. The GM said he couldn't terminate a member because of "he said, she said." GM said the #MeToo movement doesn't have anything to do with my situation. But the #MeToo movement is all about sexual harassment. Within minutes of walking out of the GM's office, he called and let me know that the member had just canceled his membership (so I can feel safe now). No thanks to Life Time! The member canceled because of his own guilt and embarrassment. What if he didn't cancel? There should be a zero tolerance policy. I reached out to corporate. Corporate had someone else at Princeton LT call me. But the conversation did not go anywhere. How will they protect their members when sexual harassment, racial prejudice, or any other injustice occurs. Their answer : They "have to respect the other member, too." read more

I use to swim some laps evenings, but now they blocked all laps, and members can't swimm in the evenings! They used to leave one lap free for members, for some reason they think it is OK to block the whole swimmingpool for the swimm team. Pretty unfair! Best gym I have ever gone to! Nicest staff, beautiful facility, and top of the line equipment. There are so many classes to choose from, it's great getting to experience ones that I would not normally go out of my way to go to an independent studio to try. I love the layout of the gym. Free weights and cables are completely separate from machines. I have to also mention how much I love spin classes with Kemma, Chino, and Audrey! They are the best spin instructors I have ever gone to. When you join you have to check out their classes! read more

I love this place so much! I think they must be pumping extra oxygen in the air or something! I just feel like a boost of happiness when I'm here. The facility is brand new and state of the art. I LOVED having the outdoor space in the summertime. My favorite thing here are the classes. At first, I was confused by this "Life Time Format," for classes in the yoga studio, but the schedule has been adjusted over time, and I've found classes that I like. The people here are very friendly and it's a very positive environment for all people. The indoor pool is surprisingly great for me, because I never really liked swimming. The operating hours of 4AM to midnight is just about as ideal as it can get! Also the cafe and lounge space is great. I've really enjoyed the flatbreads here.. YUM! Other positives? Basically at this gym you have to accommodate to their schedule. I enjoy playing basketball. They had two courts and one was converted to pickle ball. Okay not an issue. The entire summer the remaining basketball court was used for a kids camp. Nobody is using the pickle ball court during that time but they make sure that basketball is bottom of the list if you enjoy it. It is occupied all morning and afternoon until 6 pm. On the weekends there about 40 people waiting to play a game on the one court that remains. Then I paid for the outdoor swimming pool, came with my kids over the weekend and as soon as we get in the water it is closed do to a private event. I'm paying for machines that I can get at any gym for $20-$30 bucks a month. I'm paying $150 and this is what I have experienced the whole summer. Extremely frustrating that you can't use the services you are paying for. read more
